Taken in London on Easter Sunday. After a huge sleep-over, a frantic search for chocolate eggs around the apartment and a lot of lying around and munching on chocolate, we decided to go to Greenwich Park and feed the squirrels, get a bit of fresh air.

The squirrels were very friendly (or just greedy, I'm not sure) and I took loads of pictures. When suddenly the sun burst out, I took a few pictures of the group and then asked Halla to pose a little by the flowerbed.

We made three dozen eggs, I let the girlies pick out whichever they liked best and I took the rest. Daisies seem to be the popular motif.

I've included some of the leftover leaves and flowers.

Every year the Orland Ministerial Association sponsors a community wide Easter Sunrise service at Black Butte Lake in Orland, California. It is one of the few occasions when the body of Christ in Orland unites together as a whole. It is a beautiful thing. For one day believers of every denomination set aside their sectarian differences and celebrate their risen savior, Jesus Christ, in the beauty of his Creation. He is risen, indeed!

My take on the Easter Bunny... The Easter Bear.

Not the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown.

This bulldog sculpture was adorned with a pair of novelty bunny ears for the Easter season. The sculpture - likely a molded one from Home Depot and bought by someone too innocent to realize it was mass-produced - some kind of innocence is measured out in years - was on the porch of a house in Caldwell, New Jersey.

Easter 2024

With the stage lights shining on them, the Easter Lilies at my church were too beautiful to pass up on Easter Sunday. I snapped this prior to Sunday's service. I am so glad for the convenient of digital pocket cameras. The macro mode on my little camera does well in most situations.

If you are wondering about the hot pink/red in the corner, that is the shiny paper around the pot of the flower.

Below is some information on the tradition of Easter Lilies from Texas A&M:

For many, the beautiful trumpet-shaped white flowers symbolize purity, virtue, innocence, hope and life - the spiritual essence of Easter.

History, mythology, literature, poetry and the world of art are rife with stories and images that speak of the beauty and majesty of the elegant white flowers. Dating back to Biblical lore, the lily is mentioned numerous times in the Bible. One of the most famous Biblical references is in the Sermon on the Mount, when Christ told his listeners: "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; and yet..... Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."

Often called the "white-robed apostles of hope," lilies were found growing in the Garden of Gethsemane after Christ's agony. Tradition has it that the beautiful white lilies sprung up where drops of Christ's sweat fell to the ground in his final hours of sorrow and deep distress. Churches continue this tradition at Easter time by banking their altars and surrounding their crosses with masses of Easter Lilies, to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and hope of life everlasting.
