Mandy, Malachi and Matt. Mandy is the granddaughter of one of Margie's oldest and dearest childhood friends so these folks represent the 3rd and 4th generation of a family friendship. That oldest friend lost her battle with cancer on the last day of 2009 so Malachi never had the honor of knowing her.
My friend and I were joking that we needed to do an ombre egg and chevron egg to capture all the Pinterest trends. But we ran out of eggs and energy before we got the chevron.
Easter weekend 2017.
Hired a house in the small village of Meppen in Drenthe.
Friday walked in the jeneverbesgebied "De Palms".
Saturday journey over the Afsliutdijk to pick up Oma for a family day in Veendam. Evening walk in the Mepperdennen forest.
Sunday walked to the neighboring villages of Aalden and Zweeloo.
Monday a short walk in the Mantingerveld nature reserve before driving back to Amstelveen.
Easter is the apex of the Church's liturgical year and is the solemnity upon which the rest of the year revolves. It was on the first Easter Sunday that the Lord's disciples discovered the empty tomb, indicating that Christ had risen from the dead.
By His Resurrection Jesus Christ triumphed over death, paid the debt that came through the sin of Adam, and thus opened the gates of Heaven to mankind. Thus, the Lord's Resurrection on Easter thus marks the turning point in salvation history.
It is for this reason that Christians have great reason to rejoice in the new life brought to us by the Risen Savior. Salvation has come at last! For this reason, the Church resumes the use of the word "alleluia" which is said with even greater frequency and fervor for the rest of the fifty days of the Easter season, also known as 'Paschaltide.'
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is no mere historical event relegated to history but a living reality which Christians experience again and again each year. It is an ever ancient and ever new mystery that is re-presented each year. May all discover and receive the new life to be found in the Risen Savior.
Easter breads are integral to our celebration. Jesus was the bread of life, and the institution of the Eucharist was on Holy Thursday, when he celebrated the Last Supper with his friends.
Bread is such a simple and essential part of life and food, and one that our family has always enjoyed.
I love making it but, sadly, don't have the time to do it often. There's nothing like the smell of bread baking or the taste of it fresh from the oven and still warm.

Easter Aquhorthies stone circle is one of the best-preserved examples of a recumbent stone circle (RSC) and one of the few that still have their full complement of stones and the only one that has all its stones still standing without having been re-erected.
The circle has a diameter of 19.5 metres. Eight of the stones are made of pink porphyry, the ninth is made of red jasper. The two tall stones flanking the horizontal stone are made of grey granite and the large resting stone itself is made of red granite.
In the back the recumbent and the flanker stones
On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Bishop David Walkowiak presided during Easter Vigil in the Holy Night at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew. Father René Constanza, CSP, rector of the cathedral, and Associate Pastors Father Bill Edens, CSP, and Father Michael Hennessy, CSP, concelebrated. Deacon Dennis Rybicki and Paulist Seminarian Deacon Michael Cruickshank assisted. The Vigil Mass included the Service of Light and catechumens and candidates of the parish were received into full communion with the Church.

'“Jesus is not here [in the tomb]; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and, on the third day, be raised again.'”'- The Bible, Luke chapter 24 verses 6&7

It is very silent still, a few birds sing a tentative song, in the distance one car.
It is Easter morning, no children or grandchildren to hide eggs for...
I light the candles for our 'special' breakfast.
We always make breakfast special on the week-ends, but for some days a little extra special!
Have a lovely day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

I'm submitting this photo to Jezebel's Past Fashion: Easter gallery. I have no idea where my parents found that plush gorilla baby dressed as a bunny, but it was The Hit.
