Easter bunnies for my darling daughters, Madeleine and Olivia.

A Christmas tree, sure, but an Easter tree?

Hanging plastic Easter eggs on tree branches is quite common these days, and the resident of this Hillside Avenue household in Caldwell had a nice little evergreen to work with. Many people hang eggs on branches of deciduous trees.

On Easter, we had dinner with my youngest son and his girl-friend at her family's house. My job was to bring dessert and my camera, with the special request to shoot some portraits of these great kids. I am posting a couple just because this is something I rarely do - you'll notice there is nary a bird in sight!! - and I would love some feed-back. Please be candid!! Really ....

I have spent all of my Flickr time this morning editing these images, so will have to reserve my commenting for another time. Sorry. In my next life, I am not having a job as it certainly gets in the way of these much more important things!! :-)

And lastly, thank you all for your comments on my Backlit Birdie Bokeh. Y'all rock!!

Easter was a busy day. Fun, but busy. Morning found us doing all the various chores that we needed to take care of to leave Santa Cruz: washing a load of laundry, wiping down surfaces in the house where we stayed, that sort of thing. It took us a while because of the chickens thrown into the mix, and when we finally got our list done, they were taking a nap, and so we had to wait.

Eventually we got going, and headed to my husband's cousin's house for Easter dinner. This was a great time. It's always good to see this side of the family, and they were soooo excited to see the babies. In addition to Easter, we usually see this side of the family a couple of other times a year. One of those times is 4th of July, and a tradition for that gathering is to put on a play each year, mostly starring the children, but including everyone at the gathering. Recently, I saw the movie Be Kind Rewind, and was inspired by that to swede my own movie. I reasoned that our 4th of July holiday gathering would be the perfect opportunity, so I lobbied hard for us to swede Star Wars. And we're going to do it! I'm the script (re)writer. I think that it's going to be fun... stay tuned.

Just having a bit of fun with little chocolate Easter eggs.

Easter Rose in my garden in Hamburg, Germany. Also called "Christ Rose" in German.

My first attempt to take photos whithout stopping. I was sliding down a short slope and had a few seconds to snap this. Not the safest approach but sometimes the only alternative when you don't want people to wait (even more) for you :-)

Wonderful trip by the way! :-)

"This Joyful Eastertide," music by Charles Wood, is one of my all-time favorite Easter hymns. The wisteria was shot in the columbarium at Christ Church Cathedral, Cincinnati

Some snaps from our Easter stay in the Columbia River Valley near Invermere, BC. We saw these birds on the hunt for fish, and make an actual dive into the river for one - like a bullet into the water, remarkable for such a big bird. Didn't get it on camera, however...

Easter is the pinnacle of the Church's liturgical year and is the solemnity upon which the rest of the year revolves. It was on the first Easter Sunday that the Lord's disciples discovered the empty tomb, indicating that Christ had risen from the dead.

By His Resurrection Jesus Christ triumphed over death, paid the debt that came through the sin of Adam, and thus opened the gates of Heaven to mankind. Thus, the Lord's Resurrection on Easter thus marks the turning point in salvation history.

It is for this reason that Christians have great reason to rejoice in the new life brought to us by the Risen Savior. Salvation has come at last! For this reason, the Church resumes the use of the word "alleluia" which is said with even greater frequency and fervor for the rest of the fifty days of the Easter season, also known as 'Paschaltide.'

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is no mere historical event relegated to history but a living reality which Christians experience again and again each year. It is an ever ancient and ever new mystery that is re-presented each year. May all discover and receive the new life to be found in the Risen Savior.
