Each year the ice free water in this area attracts a number of wintering swans. To get close enough for some shots I tromped along the edge of the river through about a foot of snow. The weather was great (cold and sunny) making for an enjoyable outing.
Each year at this time I try to photograph my first sighting of the wild flower Prairie Crocus - Anemone patens . It is also know as a pasque flower as it arrives right around Easter. Once again this year, it is right on time. We saw the first one on Good Friday.
I have been tracking the crocus appearance on Nose Hill for 15 years now. In 2016, I saw the first crocus on March 19. In 2020, it was as late as April 25.
When I'm not looking for wild flowers, you can find me on Twitter
Inspired by Beate's lovely gift to me of Nell Dorr's
"Mother and Child"
"Each Door-Step has its own blossoms
And these are mine.
The fragrance of their breath is the air I breathe
And their roots go deep.
Yet here is no new kind of flower,
For every April smells of lilacs
And every mid-summer of the rose.
We are each of us brought forth by the same mother,
The human creature after his kind..." -- Nell Dorr
What a great opportunity to see this well known couple first thing on our visit to Seney Wildlife Refuge. They've apparently been together since 1997, making the annual 3,000 mile migratory trip returning to Seney each year. Here's a great article on the couple:

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.

Each time you fall in love
It's clearly not enough
You sleep all day and drive out in L.A
It isn't safe
And each time you kiss a girl
You never know what it's worth
You say all of the words they wanna hear
It isn't real
She took you for a ride in summer baby
Lost all your money to her
All I wanna know is if you love her
How come you never give in
Each time you have a dream
You never know what it means
You see that open road and never know which way to go
And each time you fall in love
It's clearly not enough
You sleep all day and drive out in L.A
It isn't safe
She took you for a ride in summer baby
Lost all your money to her
All I wanna know is if you love her
How come you never give in

Would have gone out today, it was fine enough, but other things got in the way. So took a photo of some ribbon I found, while sorting out something else. It looked OK, but I decided to play around with it a bit.

"Chouchou is a historic location in Second Life. Each of us has visited it at least once, and it enchanted us.
At the point of arrival, water, and an endless horizon seemingly infinite surround you.
When you activate music, it’s magic. The music is original to the authors of the location, more specifically: Juliet Heberle is a vocalist, while Arabesque Choch is a composer. The original music of Chouchou on the official website of the sim: chouchou.cc/music/.
Chouchou is known for its music and for the location of water that inspired many other sites, but it is right to remember that the sim hosts two other exciting spaces in the sky, Islamey, and Memento, accessible by a teleport located at the foot of the staircase that leads to the air.
Also, the authors of the location have made artistic videos of high level, and they are visible on their website at the following link: chouchou.cc/music/, under the heading “music videos.”
Today, reading on Facebook, I learned that Chouchou is in danger of closing down.
Many people are worried about this news because Chouchou is a symbol of Second Life, one of many, of course. However, one of the most significant. I hope that the Linden Lab will accept the invitation to preserve this place that for many Second Life users is a corner of peace, harmony, and therapy to the greyness of everyday life."

Each year at this time and around the height of Autumn, I return to this same place. Each year at this time it delivers an eye dazzling display of color and each year I try to capture it in a different way. Each year people cross the bridge to the left of the image and I do my best to leave them out. And finally, each year I hope for the best.

Each Spring, the Hortus here puts out an array of tubs planted with tulip bulbs. This year the first flowers to sprout from the green are Alborz Lowly Tulips, which originally hail from northern Iran and the surrounding area. This Tulip was introduced to Europe in the middle of the nineteenth century and first flowered in England in 1844.

Each Spring, on the Sunday closest to 11th May, people come from all over London and the South East to join in the local tradition of celebrating the blossom on the magnificent horse chestnut trees in Bushy Park.
The tradition originated in the mid-19th Century and continued until World War II. It was revived in 1993.
Chestnut Sunday has evolved through its long history but the central feature is a parade down Chestnut Avenue.
The photo shows the horse leading the parade and some of the crowds and the blossom on one of the chestnut trees.

So don't go throwing our love away
It's here to stay
I'm telling you
There's nothing that could stop us anyway
Our love is an ocean
Let's get it in motion
" Greet each day with your eyes open to beauty, your mind open to change, and your heart open to love." {Paula Finn}
Sea otters are known to eat 33 different types of prey – but each otter has its favorite 2 or 3, and usually sticks to these preferences its entire life. Quickly spinning the sea urchin in her paws, she breaks off the prickly spines. Using her teeth, she chomps open the body and licks out the insides. Yummy!
Her home was a magical castle, each room holding a different experience that are all so precious in her lifetime. Sometimes, she finds herself walking into a room without any thoughts. Other times, she actually plans to visit certain rooms she is so familiar with, yet there are times when she forgets where certain rooms are located or gets lost in one room with the intention of being in another.
This evening, she was looking for a particular room. This was a room she didn't visit for so many years and was yearning for it. It was the one room where she could be herself completely. A room that held all her desires, dreams and peace of mind. After hours and hours of searching, she thought she could never find it but there was a ringing in her head and a light whispering call singing her name. With much focus she managed to follow the voice until she reached the top most room of the castle.
With a happy heart she pushed the door open and was welcomed with warmth, light and a sweet scent in the air. She floated around, bathing in the darkness that was her solitude, embracing her heart that was always shining from within for others but perhaps it was time that her heart will shine for herself too for a change.
"It is your turn."
This is her time.
P.S. Shout out to the lovely SweetBun, Lya! She gave me an inspiration Image and told me to go crazy trusting me to add my own touch to the artwork. I have never been so inspired in a while to do a solo shot but here I am!
Each semi-dome has 14 windows and the central dome 28 (four of which are blind). The coloured glass for the windows was a gift of the Signoria of Venice to the sultan.

We have a very limited time on this Earth. Think of the mountains who laugh at the humans who feel proud to make it through a century! Many of us live a life where we don't realize the gifts given to us or the beauty of the humans around us.
Don't live like that. I often think of the work of Buddhist Thich Nhat Hanh (especially when my body isn't feeling great)...those that walk around not giving thanks to their legs, their arms, their minds...those people are like zombies. But also, give thanks to each other.
It is indeed a very special thing when someone agrees to share moments with you in her/his/their short life. There is no greater compliment and this love must be cherished. No life will be measured by its possessions or its monetary riches. A life will only be measured by the love that was given and cherished in return.
