On my drive to work each day I would notice the mist rising beyond the guard rails, and then it would be gone. Next it would be a flash of red and gold, a glint of light would catch my eye and they too would be gone as I continued along the highway to work. I have always known that if I kept my camera in the car on the days driving to work, I would never arrive. So, last Fall I decided to take the time and stop along the main highways and the back roads and climb over the guard rails. What transpired was a series of images that are seldom noticed by the thousands who pass them every day. I call the series “Beauty Beyond the Barriers”. I hope you enjoy them.
The lovely textures used in this series are thanks to the beautiful work of Anna Lenabem and Jai Johnson.
Life has kept me away from Flickr for a while and I have missed you all, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your visit, all your kind comments, invitations and favorites. This image may not be copied or distributed without my written consent. © All rights reserved.
A favourite album this time of year is George Winston's "Winter." While caught up in the bliss of the historical Ukrainian church in Redwater, AB with gigantic snowflakes falling past my lens, the clarity and detail of every note was unmistakable. How pristine the sight, and how perfect my recollection of these fine piano melodies.

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I will meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about
language, ideas, even the phrase 'each other'
doesn't make any sense.

Sun grave
Falling asleep I want to go back in time
some years ago
to be a small boy
who likes to play and who is with you
It seems to me a lot of years
I was a boy who wanted to know the world
and I played with you
I´ll get back and wish to be with you
to recall memories
but I have bad news
Dry soil here only
without flowers, without water
kneeling down
I do reverence by rembrance
I say goodbay but something remained
from those days of us
and I know I´ll stay faithful
Dry soil here only
without flowers, without water
kneeling down
I do reverence by rembrance
I say goodbay but something of us remained
from those days
and I know I´ll stay faithful
I can´t sleep and I wake up
and can´t resist the thought
to come back in time some years ago
to be a small boy
who likes to play and who is with you

Snowdrops are not to be confused with Snowflakes,
Leucojum.
The Snowflake is a much taller growing bulb which normally has more than one flower per stem. Snowflake petals are even, each with a green spots on the end, whereas Snowdrops have helicopter like propellers that are green only on the inner petals.
They are just starting to bloom in our garden.

Each moment of the year has its own beauty... a picture which was never seen before and which shall never be seen again.

Verbier : Mont fort and the Grand Combin.Canton of Valais, Switzerland. Izakigur 25.02.11, 14:35:51.
I appreciate and honoured for your kind and inspiring comments. Together makes us stronger... I appreciate this opportunity to learn from each other...Thats the meaning of this collaboration and sharing . Take care ...keep on doing . )
Me.
"Mont Fort is a mountain of the Pennine Alps, located near Verbier in the Swiss canton of Valais. It lies on the range between the valleys of Bagnes and Nendaz, north of the Rosablanche. With a height of 3,328 metres above sea level, Mont Fort is the highest summit north of the Col de Louvie (2,921 m).
Mont Fort is surrounded by several glaciers, the largest being the Glacier de Tortin, on its northwestern side. The second largest is the Glacier du Mont Fort, located on its northeastern side. On its eastern side lies the lower summit Petit Mont Fort (3,135 m). The Glacier du Petit Mont Fort lies between the two summits. There are no glaciers on the south side of the mountain. A small lake named Lac du Petit Mont Fort (2,764 m) lies on the south flank.
The summit of Mont Fort is easily accessible by cable car from the heights of Verbier or Nendaz. The cable cars from the two valleys converge at the intermediate station (2,894 m) north of the Col des Gentianes, the upper section reaching a height of 3,308 metres. In the winter and early spring season, the mountain, including the Glacier de Tortin, is the culminating point of the 4 Vallées ski area.

2023 photo 18/347 I was hoping to see birds when I took a walk Wednesday around Abbott Lake at the Blue Ridge Parkway's Peaks of Otter. Instead I found a quiet landscape locked in winter dormancy. These frozen berries by the shore were the only splash of color. ©2023 | jmhudson1.com
Built in Beverley in 1947 and still sailing with Holidaymakers each Summer, I have Photographed this little Vessel many times but this is the first time l have seen her leaving the Harbour stern first,
Each of the 30 main Sarsen standing stones that once formed a complete outer circle was around 4.1 metres (13 ft) high, 2.1 metres (6 ft 11 in) wide and weighed around 25 tons. The stones were hewn slightly wider at the top so they would look parallel-sided from the ground and the lintel stones curved slightly to create a more effective circle. (Wikipedia)
Each year the ice free water in this area attracts a number of wintering swans. To get close enough for some shots I tromped along the edge of the river through about a foot of snow. The weather was great (cold and sunny) making for an enjoyable outing.
Each year at this time I try to photograph my first sighting of the wild flower Prairie Crocus - Anemone patens . It is also know as a pasque flower as it arrives right around Easter. Once again this year, it is right on time. We saw the first one on Good Friday.
I have been tracking the crocus appearance on Nose Hill for 15 years now. In 2016, I saw the first crocus on March 19. In 2020, it was as late as April 25.
When I'm not looking for wild flowers, you can find me on Twitter
