Tall tales of short dwarves- small people in a big book! There's the story of Belrum, and his escape from the dragon's lair with the jewel of Bolta. There's the account of the wild rides through the mines of Rugarth after the goblins cut loose the minecarts. There's stories of rooms of gold, kings of old, and tales of both the brave and the bold.
Built for the Dwarf Tales category of Brickscalibur 2024.

Hello gents and gentlest, this is Alex THELEGOFAN, let's go back again in 2007 today, I'm reviewing the set 7036 from LEGO Castle Fantasy Era💎
It has 534 pieces, 7 minifigs and cost $120 in new condition😬
The good : The mine is very big, they are a lot of play feature with the wagons, there are also the waterwheel to transport the gold. I also really like the shape of the mountain, the catapult, and the bucket behind the mountain. And of course the minifigs are really great, especially the dwarves, I love the helmets👍
The bad : Nothing ! 👍
Rating : It's one of the all-time best set. It has an unique look and is very playable with some great figures⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hill Dwarves:
The Hill Dwarves are an interesting sect of dwarven culture. Centuries ago, certain adventurous clans ventured forth from their mountain holds in search of riches and glory, or were exiled from the holds for some wrongdoing or broken oath. These clans either failed at their vision of constructing a new hold or were not allowed to settle back in other holds, for once a clan leaves the mountains, it is, by law, never allowed to return. These clans then had to fend for themselves and over the centuries began to band together on the Foothills of the great mountains.
They built trading posts, logging villages, and forts along the popular trade routes that connect the lands of men to the dwarven elddoms. Over time, these places began to house more and more clans and now are an important trade network along the rocky landscape. The dwarves of the true mountain hold rarely interact with the Hill Dwarves, never allowing them into the mountains and only trading with them for wood, pelts, and other objects of value found in the harsh wilderness of the Foothills. Most longbeards, elderly, dwarves do not even consider their distant kin to be actual dwarves, but a stained reminder of great failures.
However, the Hill Dwarves gaze upon the towering mountains, ever remindful of their failures and always hopeful that someday, a chance will arise where they can prove their valor and regain entry into the glorious holds. The truth, sadly, is far from that hope. The Hill Dwarves have become a removed lot, changed by the centuries spent living with the dregs of human society. However, this has given these dwarves a certain level of tenacity that can be useful in combat.
When an army throng is called, most Clan Eldds regretfully recruit the help of the Hill Dwarves as a frontline harassing unit. These dwarves are a raucous bunch, often times engaging in battle with a brew in one hand and a crude axe, club, or pick in the other, thoroughly drunk. They hoot and holler as they saunter towards the enemy, shouting insults and letting loose their fury on the foes they face.
Most Hill Dwarves don’t wear armor, for a full set of chainmail or plate armor is far too expensive for the poor clans, and opt for leather helms and furs to protect them in the heat of battle. Their weaponry is crude by normal dwarven standards, and is often found to be chipped and rusted. A tough lot indeed, the Hill Dwarves fight with a stubborn fury that most dwarves would begrudgingly admire.
Rune Guard:
Dwarves do not practice the many forms of magic that can be found amongst the other races of Warscape. They disdain it as a weak and cheating form of combat, preferring the hard steel and stalwart iron made in their foundries to achieve victory. They are naturally immune to the effects of different magics, and have developed a resistance to the spells they combat in battle. However, they are not completely impervious to all forms of magic, for like all living things, they can be effected by spells, even if it is only the most strongly crafted of magics.
For this reason, the Runesmiths of the dwarven race have infused the magical energies into their hammercraft. They use these runes in battle to bolster their weapons and armor, deflect enemy spells, and provide magical energies to their allies. These Runesmiths, however, are susceptible in close quarters combat, and because of this units of Rune Guard have been deployed to defend their beloved runes of power.
The Rune Guard are the elite veterans of the many dwarven clans, chosen from their clan and given the honor of earning a place in the Rune Guard. They have proven their worth in battle and are among some of the most skilled dwarves in the army throng.
They stand sentinel outside of the revered vaults of the Runesmiths, silently guarding the mighty runes. They wield masterfully crafted war hammers etched with runes of strength and crushing and their armor is made of the stoutest of steel. They adorn themselves in runic reds and wear capes that signify their position.
Stalwart defenders of the revered runes of the dwarven race, the Rune Guard are a feared force on the battlefield. They sweep their long hammers in wide arcs, crushing the life out of their foes with impressive strength. Silently delivering doom to their enemies, the Rune Guard have become famous for their feats in combat.
Getting into Avalonia was not going to be easy, but dwarves are resourceful....and a brainstorm session can yield some great ideas!
Raven Darksight was contemplating how to lead a group of his Dwarven Army into Avalonia, but those elves seem to notice everything. There has to be a way in to get past those elves!
Ibun, son Mim spoke up, "I got it! We all know how Elves love the forest and the trees right?"
"Aye!"
"Well, all we need to do is have Rowyn and Bowyn dress up like a tree. They wander over near those Elves and start yelling 'Oi, Me leaves hurt, me branches hurt! Please help!' We know that those Elves won't be able to resist helping out a tree."
"Stupid Elves, they'll probably still be munching on their croissants and sniffing their flowers while rush over to help the tree too!"
"Yeah, stupid elves!"
They all laughed as they pictured those stupid elves sniffing flowers and helping out the tree in distress. If this doesn't work, nothing will!
The elves worked diligently and efficiently to help stop a dwarven invasion on Avalonia and the Drow, to prevent war and promote peace. They sent out scouts on their newly tamed wargs and built towers to detect any sign of dwarves, and to stop them. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, it all came to nothing. The dwarves secretly mined underneath their very nose, and gained entry into Avalonia, ready to take war on the Drow..."
My entry into the Guilds of Historica Book II Challenge III Category B - Deceiving Elves
Phew! I can't believe I finished it in time! Thanks to the extension of the deadline and a canceled family gathering, I had enough time to finish my second entry into the GoH Challenge. Once again I experimented in one of Grant Davis's techniques that he created in his creation "Undermining." (If you have not checked out Grant's creation yet, what are you waiting for!? Go give it a look! ;) ) Tons of fun to build, making all the little sections of rock pieces fit together was so much fun (although very delicate)!
The details on the top were also fun to add, I finally got to use my wargs! :D Even though wars in LOTR are evil, I always though they were kinda cool, so if you could tame them...they could be quite lethal and well worth the effort. ;)
All in all, a decent build, there are a few more things I would have liked to try if I had more time, but deadlines are deadlines. ;)
Thanks for viewing, and enjoy!
Soli Deo Gloria!

Dwarves Mine Tower
Eastern Schwarzwald. At a small mine, the dwarves once built a fairly large tower. From the tower they can observe if any enemy forces are approaching the mine (not only dwarves like gold, you know). And if enemy forces are getting close, the dwarves will shoot at them with the cannon.
We are currently seeing a mine inspection by a dwarven king. The king awarded the output leader, and the princess was given a gold crystal as a gift. Meanwhile, everything is being watched by an elven spy.
The dwarves, apart from hatches and axes, sometimes use a helicopter. Perhaps to deliver ammunition to the tower.

So lovely, it was complete, with all the animals, also the dwarves and all the amazing small glasses and plates...in love!
A company of dwarves are infiltrating the drow tunnels through the catacombs of a vast dwarven necropolis, deep below ground in southern Mitgardia. That the necropolis is nowadays connected to tunnels of more evil origin is sadly all too apparent, since drow or orcish plunderers have recently sneaked in and broken up all the cover stones of the graves to plunder the riches of the entombed dwarves. To someone like these dwarven warriors who are venerating their ancestors, this is an atrocity that cannot be forgiven and strengthens their resolve to defeat the Drow.
My entry to Guilds of Historica Book II, challenge III "Dwarven Affairs" category B.
When word reached Gabriel in the mountains, that the Jarl was requesting assistance and declaring war upon Galainir, he was ready. After having had suffered the humiliation of losing his home to the usurper, he had been getting ready and building his forces for months, all in secret of course. Now, the time he had been hoping for was finally here. After having gathered his troops and begun the march to the capital, Gabriel and the Darkstar Warriors encountered battalions of Lenfels and Loreesi looking for the same opportunity. After squashing some ridiculous clan machismo and rivalries, Gabriel and the leaders of the other battalions knew that joining forces was the best way to mount this attack.
As they approached the castle and formulated the plans, Gabriel shocked the others with what he termed his ‘secret weapon’.
“The dwarves of Garheim are tinkers….they will be able to breach the castle walls better and quicker than a sapper.”
“I don’t believe it, they’re dwarves. All they know is stone and mining.” Jerik, the Lenfel captain said.
Ahmed, the Loreesi captain snorted, but otherwise said nothing.
“Just wait, they have created something they call flash powder. It’s dangerous, but in these circumstances I think it’s warranted.”
As the siege began, the dwarves loaded a barrel into the catapult and lit the end. As the troops charged the gates, there was a moment of pause as the flaming barrel flew overhead. Then, chaos erupted. At once there was a blast of heat as that of a furnace that permeated the entire battlefield, and the sound of the explosion seemed to felt as strongly as it was heard. The walls erupted in a shower of stone and fire. Gabriel took a brief moment to turn and give just a hint of a smile to Ahmed and Jerik.
Then, the fighting erupted. As Gabriel charged the usurpers, it seemed that bodies fell left and right. It was hard to tell what colors they were wearing with the mass of blood and gore. As he looked up his eyes connected with that of the ugliest man Gabriel had ever seen. Clad in black, he whirled chains that ended in blades from each hand. In a blur, the chains whipped through the air and tore apart the soldier just in front of Gabriel. As their eyes met, Gabriel knew he had but moments to react…..

Orngrim Oathsmith
Dwarves, by nature, are a very old and traditional race. They take spoken words very seriously, especially oaths. Each dwarf will undoubtedly swear many oaths in his long-lived life, some spoken over drunken nights over tankards of ale, while others are so serious that they apply to the entire dwarven race. Oaths formed in friendship with the human race, or words sworn in hatred against the ancient elves and savage orcs. These oaths stand the test of time, only because of Oathsmiths.
An Oathsmith is a dwarven title given to very few dwarves who are the most honorable and stalwart of their race. Upon joining the ancient cult, the newly appointed Oathsmith is given an anvil engraved with the sworn oaths of the dwarven race that he is required to uphold. Such is the path for Orngrim, one of the few Oathsmith elites.
Orngrim carries his anvil into battle slung around his shoulder by strong chains and bears the Oathsmith standard of an anvil suspended by chains against goldsteel plates. His runic war hammer strikes fear into his foes as he bashes and cleaves his way through enemy lines, reciting sworn dwarven oaths as he avenges his ancestors. His anvil glows as the runes engraved upon it are fulfilled, acting as both a shield for Orngrim and a battle drum as he strikes the anvil with his warhammer to a foreboding beat. Bearing the strongest armor found in a dwarven army throng, Orngrim is virtually unstoppable as the battle rages on. Akin to a human paladin, Orngrim is a protector of the dwarven race. Upon completion of the battle, this zealot stoically awaits the next battle to continue his life goal of upholding dwarven oaths. Behold the sworn words of Orngrim Oathsmith!

This is a small dwarven castle on a small island - something I had built for Eurobricks' Guilds of Historica, but I never came to build the intended story. It started with the sighting of dwarven attack boats and then the dwarves would surely have had a base - which was meant to be this island off the coast of Mitgardia.
(It seems to be slightly warmer there...)
Stone carvings of dwarves on the outside of the main image house at Kelaniya Temple, near Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Kelaniya Great High Temple is one of Sri Lanka's most revered sacred Buddhist sites as it is believed to mark the location of a sermon given by the Buddha during what is believed to be his third visit to the island of Lanka. Kelaniya is one of 16 Solosmasthana sites on the island that Sri Lankan Buddhists believed were visited by the Buddha during his 3 visits to the island. Most of the structures at the temple are built or cut from a beautiful gold-coloured stone, as can be seen here.

Dwarved by giant trees, two dudes ham it up in the Muir Woods (National Monument). The coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are among the tallest trees on Earth, reaching heights over 300 ft (100 m). Their biology is intimately tied in with fog, which is responsible for much of their summer water supply during this naturally dry period. The trees have thick bark which enables them to survive periodic fires. The fires help germination of seedlings by providing them a nutrient rich mineral soil substrate. These trees are around 600 years old, but they can live over 2000 years.
