Can you imagine the face I made during my hikes in the mountains when I found this place here? The whole mountain slope was completely covered by this green carpet. And indeed, as I was walking over this area it sounded like I was destroying something. With every step I noticed that the surface was not stable as the ground was soft and muddy ;-) And every time when I find such places, I beginn to understand why legends and myths from dwarves arise from ancient times. I hope you like my vision here.

Thank you for your time and interest in my photos, your visit is most appreciated :-)

Duncan missed the warm sands of Kader. But as any wealthy noble would agree, one could not sacrifice potentially lucrative trade opportunities for personal comfort.

What would his time with the dwarves of Melikroth lead to? He hoped there would be less hostility with them than they experienced with the elves.

There are about 280 different Dwarves roaming around in Wrocław. Finding those little bronze statues can be a lot of fun and a way to explore the city.

German folklore describes the dwarves as a race living within the mountains and caves of the earth. Untiring miners, they carve out elaborate caverns and underground cities. I found one such site dwelling in the far corners of my mind.

Location: a brain cavern.

where fairies and dwarves live

Based on the scene in the book The Hobbit where Bilbo and the dwarves arrive at Rivendell. I built it for a collab based on the Hobbit with LOTRLUG, and was quite excited to get this part as I've wanted to build a model of Rivendell for a while. I must give some credit to Elven Ranger as his Siege of Imladris model was a huge source of inspiration for this build. Also, credit to Joe (jnj_bricks) for editing the photo! Overall, I think it might be one of my best build yet, and I hope you like it too!

Even dwarves cast long shadows

Mother duck had bred in an allotment in our neighborhood and then set off with the 10 little ducklings to the Ohre, a small river that flows through our town. But that meant a 1 km walk with several road crossings.

You probably saw it or guessed that the shadow is not from the ducks. To the right of them there was a children's party with bouncy castles, one of which probably caused this shadow.

Fontanone di Goriuda

It is said that Goriuda, a frightening ogre, enjoyed to terrorize the inhabitants of Val Raccolana with his movements. Together with Goriuda lived some dwarves, called Goriuz..

Goriuda's favorite abode was the large cave from which the fresh waters of Mount Canin descended, which gave rise to the "Cascata del Sole", now called "Fontanone di Goriuda"

(Goriuda's big fountain).

Under the boughs of a great ironwood tree lies the southern entrance to the Dwarven stronghold of Khaz-Dukhan. These days, the great doors are usually left ajar to welcome travelers and traders and allow a cool breeze of fresh mountain air into the stronghold's depths.

Built as a late entry to NCLUG's June MOC challenge (theme: castle). I was inspired by some old mudguards, which I used to create the "zigzag" pattern in the pillars. Also wanted to play with some interesting color choices I haven't tried before, like the pearl dark grey in the tree and a combo of olive, lime, and spring-yellowish green for the ground.

The dwarves march out of their stone halls, and through Mitgardia. A host of dwarves like this has not been seen in an age...

Final build for my Challenge III entry for GoH, I promise. :P

Duncan's peace talks with Melkiroth proved to be very profitable indeed. It took some convincing, but Duncan persuaded the dwarves to join him for a meeting with the Islorians.

Duncan picked a neutral location that both elves and dwarves would be comfortable in. The stone structure made the dwarves more at ease. And the surrounding foliage helped the elves relax.

Duncan had learned that trade deals and alliances always went better if the parties involved were not on edge.

Wrocław’s dwarves

From the haul of Lego Dimensions sale at Five below

Ken and I drove up into Tennessee today to do a little shooting, despite the rain. We found this GREAT little place full of treasures outside Pulaski TN, on Five Points Road! Not open, mind you, but . . . well, you know . . . !

Built for round 2 of MELO where the prompt was to make a 16x16 vignette that represents one of the free people of Middle Earth. I got the Dwarves category. So I was thinking, what defines the Dwarves? The result ended up being a cave that features digging, mithril, blacksmith, dwarven weapons and architecture (namely Erebor) and the arkenstone. This build was a bit of a challenge. First, I knew I was gonna be away for most of the tournament so this had to be done in the first 1,5 days which definitely got stressful. Second, I realized I had much less sand green than I thought, and there was no time for BrickLink orders. But with all things considered, I'm happy with the end results!

"Remember what Bilbo used to say: 'It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.'"

BACKSTORY: We were only scheduled to be in town for about 26 hours. And that included *two* sleeps. Combined with the SubGenius devival we were going to later that day, we really didn't have much time to do anything. We woke up, walked around Chinatown, ate, and then headed to the Museum Of Sex to see what oddities it had to offer. Then we went straight to the SubGenius Devival in Astoria afterward.

The grand entrance to Treacleheim was famous for it's large statues depicting the dwarf brothers Dwim and Dim. As travelers approached the dwarven city, the light would catch off the gem-studded door drawing attention to the large doors. But it was the towering statues that kept visitor's attention as they crossed the bridge.

Wyndor was visiting the dwarves of Treacleheim. The citizen's of his city, Dalig Ulv, were bringing their fall produce to trade for weapons. Raiders were becoming more and more of a problem. And with winter coming soon, it was likely the raids would only increase. Best to be well armed. And what better way to protect yourself than with a dwarven blade?

I’m pretty happy with how the wine racks came out. They’re quite sturdy, although their sides and shelves are pretty thin. You can even see which one contains red wine and which one white wine.

“Quite a merry gathering! I hope there is something left for the late-comers to eat and drink!”

Well, lots of figs on a plate—shame on me, haha. I never imagined that I’d be able to display 12 dwarves and Gandalf on such a small vignette. Thorin is missing, but I guess that’s okay. In the movie, he joined the group later.

There’s an alternate version of the vignette with a different wall behind them. I’ll post a photo of it in my Instagram Stories before Monday, so don’t miss it.

I half expect to see the 7 Dwarves open the door and march down the stairs...[comment by MacSmiley] - read in my blog flickrcomments.wordpress.com/2012/03/19/germany-stereotypes/

The elves worked diligently and efficiently to help stop a dwarven invasion on Avalonia and the Drow, to prevent war and promote peace. They sent out scouts on their newly tamed wargs and built towers to detect any sign of dwarves, and to stop them. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, it all came to nothing. The dwarves secretly mined underneath their very nose, and gained entry into Avalonia, ready to take war on the Drow..."

My entry into the Guilds of Historica Book II Challenge III Category B - Deceiving Elves

Phew! I can't believe I finished it in time! Thanks to the extension of the deadline and a canceled family gathering, I had enough time to finish my second entry into the GoH Challenge. Once again I experimented in one of Grant Davis's techniques that he created in his creation "Undermining." (If you have not checked out Grant's creation yet, what are you waiting for!? Go give it a look! ;) ) Tons of fun to build, making all the little sections of rock pieces fit together was so much fun (although very delicate)!

The details on the top were also fun to add, I finally got to use my wargs! :D Even though wars in LOTR are evil, I always though they were kinda cool, so if you could tame them...they could be quite lethal and well worth the effort. ;)

All in all, a decent build, there are a few more things I would have liked to try if I had more time, but deadlines are deadlines. ;)

Thanks for viewing, and enjoy!

Soli Deo Gloria!
