My bike for the AlpsDivide ULTRA Bikepacking challenge.
Start in Menton on the Côte d’Azure and finish on the shores of Lake Geneva in Thonon les Bains. In-between are lying 1.049 km, the Alps and a hefty dose of 32.730 meters of elevation on a mix of gravel tracks, paved roads and a bit of single-track.
The bike to tackle it with is my lovely Dropbar Exceed. A build I already did Winter of 2022/23 on the base of a Canyon Exceed XC Race Hardtail and which I used to much success already in Badlands and El Piri. And now, as I post this, also in Alps Divide.
The setup stayed nearly identical, too. For AlpsDivide I switched from a 36 to a 34 tooth chainring and also tried out a new light, the Gloworm XS G2.0. Only other change from El Piri is that I swapped from the super minimalistic cyclite foodpouch to a Revelate Designs Feedbag as I want the cushion, volume and closure to store a camera in it.

Upgraded parts of my 2nd hand 2021 Giant Revolt 2. Swapped out the stock 42mm Giant dropbars with a preloved 44mm Salsa Cowchipper and then the Tektro mechanical brake calipers with a Ferrino mechanical actuated hydraulic brake caliper also changed the saddle from the stock Giant to the Ergon Enduro . Made a world of difference in the bike!

Early 90's Miyata Pathrunner converted to singlespeed cyclocross for the race Ronde van Retaard 2012. The bike is a bit on the heavy side which did not work in my favor, but other than that the setup was excellent for the race. Very comfortable too!

The veloheld #bikeoftheweek is a custom veloheld.lane in size XL powdercoated in "Crystal Grey" and assembled with a #Rohloff Speedhub in combination with the Gebla Rohbox. So it's possible to ride with a dropbar and Sram Shifters. Really clever!
