This old drinking fountain in a little park in the middle of Wellesley was operated by a foot pedal. It still was in good working condition!
Charming start to the new year....
This is some sort of Baileys related drink inbetween the cowboy shots and the $200 brandy that tasted like burning. Pretty artsy composition considering a drunken guy took it with my 400D!
The Blakebrook Drinking Fountain was erected on the corner of Mason Road and Habberley Road, in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, UK. It was presented to the people of Kidderminster in July 1884 by Daniel Goodwin when he was Mayor of Kidderminster.
In 1954 the council determined that the traffic at junction was dangerous and road improvements were required. They initially decided to demolish the fountain, but after objections they rescinded and dismantled the fountain piece-by-piece to be stored away. Then at a later date it was to be instated as part of a new memorial in nearby playing fields.
No new monument appeared and Goodwin's name have never been linked with the playing field. Persistent enquires have failed to find anybody in the council who knows the fate of the salvaged parts of the fountain.
So is the fountain still stored away in some council depot forgotten and hidden; has it been sold; or even stolen from the people of Kidderminster?

What's a trip to Japan without experiencing all manner of excellent/weird/challenging drinks, available from the 7-11 across the street at low low prices? "Pepsi Strong" (more caffeine and carbonation) was the special edition of the season, the Zero is just a diet, and the "Strong Energy" is basically just a guaraná soda. Suntory Highball has a really neat can that its contents did not live up to. Yes, on the right is a 180mL bottle of Japanese single-malt Scotch from a 7-11.
Ella the water cat. She sits in the bath every night waiting for water to be streamed into the bath so she can chase it or drink from a bottle.
BTW - We just put tap water in the Perrier bottle...the real stuff would be too expensive to play with the cat.
