Some of my friends think Labor Day is the end. Those poor people.

Found this really old metal advertisement attached to the wall of a local tea garden.

Shaler High School Stadium

Glenshaw, PA

I often walk the track at this high school stadium when I go to the public library nearby. I got there after dark one evening in winter and was glad I still had my point-&-shoot camera in my pocket. When I was leaving, I walked behind the bleachers and saw these drink machines.

I loved how the glow of the lights of the machines colored the surrounding area. This platform is at about chin level, so I was able to hold the camera steady on the platform, thus getting a low point-of-view and a good night shot without a tripod.

Heading out tonight? Don’t forget our officers will be out and about looking for drink and drug drivers. Don’t take a chance when you’re coming home. Stay safe and remember #NonefortheRoad

This is a juvenile Siskin; one of this year's chicks. Adults are an attractive mix of green, yellow and black, but not many pictures are posted of streaky juveniles, which have a subtle beauty of their own. Siskins are a type of finch, which are typically seed-eaters. They mainly feed on seeds from conifers, but also from alders and birch. This is a rather dry diet so most finches need to frequently drink water. A group of Siskins were repeatedly flying down to a small runnel of water down a track by the conifer plantation where they had bred. Surprisingly, they were joined by a Canary, which I also photographed feeding on seeds of Annual Meadow Grass. I shouldn't be surprised that Canaries escape, but this is a remote part of the Pennines with few dwellings within a mile or two.

A bit over sweet for my tastes, but nice enough. Bought at TokyoJazzPanda in chester.

Being with someone doesn't mean having a drink right away, but it's about people we can trust and who stand behind you. ♥

Fish Crow - Long Pine Key Pond, Everglades National Park, Florida

I sat relatively still on the side of the pond takin' pics

of a Greater Yellowlegs when this Fish Crow came over

and put on quite a show for me.

They say crows can remember people,

and perhaps this guy still remembered the last time

we were drinkin' together at Long Pine Key.

It's always fun to watch birds drink

(in spite of the fact that they never wear lampshades).

Though perhaps that's not all that funny when you think about it.

Note:

Pretty cool how the feathers fan out over the ear.

And judging from the size of this guy's fans,

he must have pretty good hearing.
