"The secret of success is to be in harmony with existence, to be always calm to let each wave of life wash us a little farther up the shore." - Cyril Connolly
By Loch Cluannie, Glen Sheil. One of those moments when your driving and have to pull over safely into the nearest layby and capture the spectacle happening before you.

A dramatic duo tone of the imposing & impressive New Slains Castle. This impressive tower house ruin is perched on a precarious cliff edge near the Aberdeenshire Village of Cruden Bay. The castle inspired Bram Stoker for the supernatural tale of Dracula. I thought a dramatic toned b&w image would generate the kind of atmosphere that Bram Stoker imagined.
The sky didn't fire up as I expected but the dark clouds add some drama. From Whitby beach at sunrise.
This is my last favorite selection from the thunderstorms on Dec. 4, 2025 over Athens. This happened on my NE side. Apart from the triple lightning, the low clouds hovering just above the buildings and giving a more dramatic tone, was another reason for choosing it.
Here, f/9 marginally "saved" the lightning bolts from overexposure, but I continued with f/10-11 later on during that night.

Starting on the slopes as we start the final climb to the summit of Cairn Gorm we look back across the Cairngorm plateau. The coire's (cliffs) we have been following on the right, slope down left, with the UK 2nd highest summit of Ben MacDui in the distance, while above the blue waters of Loch Etchachan is Derry Cairngorm. On the far left, the rocky tors of Beinn Mheadhoin stand out against the blue sky.
Cairn Gorm, the mountain from which the Cairngorm mountain range gets its name, stands at 1245 meters (4085 feet) and is my 4th Munro of the season, my 27th in total. The hike (no bike this time) sees me covering a circuit of just over 7 miles and making an elevation gain of around 762 meters (2500 feet).

2) Το περίφημο αυτό “θεματικό” πάρκο τι ΘΕΜΑ έχει;
By chance I saw on a channel a tribute to "The Elf Mill".
Hearing the cheerful disposition of a “manager” to say that this year we expect to surpass last year's 1,200,000 visitors (!!!), I have some thoughts to share that I know will throw a few drops into the internet ocean:
1) Finally we are all numbered
2) What theme does this famous theme park have?
3) If it is Christmas anyway, it is obviously out of the question since nothing in this consumer kit patch has anything to do with Christ's coming into the world in extreme humility and poverty.
4) All dictatorships over the centuries have the unmistakable same method of controlling the masses
(and not of course conscious peoples) use: "bread and spectacles"
The story of the very important industrial heritage monument has been mentioned in a previous post

A dramatic sunset captured at the beach of "Torre Mozza" in tuscany.
After a busy beach day as everyone finally left the beach I enjoyed this beautiful and colorful sunset.
This was another photo with dull colour but interesting clouds, so used mono on this one and was pleased with the result.
I went over to Akaroa for my Covid lock down. I was already packed up to go over when our level changed from level 2 straight to level 4. I spent the five weeks there without any other contact with the outside world apart from phone calls. It was a bit lonely on my own but I had the birds bees to keep me company.
