Experimenting with a double exposure in Sydney, one shot of a fence, with the other of some flowers. Also used a Hoya Pop Blue Filter for the latter. I was interested in trying out the widest aperture for each shot.

Routes 35 and 47 both began new contracts this year specifying new hybrid vehicles, both routes upgraded with MMCs but they carry the opposite chassis. The 47 uses Volvo B5LHs with the MMC body whereas the 35 uses AD E40Hs with the MMC body.

The Double O Arch, in Devil's Garden area of Arches National Park. Everyone starts this hike to see Landscape Arch. If you continue on for another mile or more you will get to experience a really cool hike, with some amazing vistas of the area and beyond. This is definitely a must.

We see double triangles these days. One of which is popular as "Winter Triangle" comprised of Sirius, Procyon and Betelguese. And now we also see the bigger triangle by Procyon, Mars and Jupiter nearby.

Self Portrait - Double Exposure

Double exposure photography can be a bit hit or miss, I have the idea. Just not sure its executed properly, The idea the tree is my brain (thoughts) the rays of light are the ideas (thinking) the other half is the darkness coming from my depression. What do you think, let me know in the comments.

This macro is a double exposure picture of Stellaria holostea and background. It gives a dreamy ambiance which was my intention. I learned it during a workshop weekend last week which I enjoyed very much!

Taken hand held, pictures were combined in-camera.

Title is a Foreigner song

A peek between the pine trees as the summer sun begins to set over the quiet water. The sound of the bull frogs is recognizable and welcomed. There is a calm to the evening.

Just keep those darned mosquitoes off of me!!

Two charming daffodils that I encountered walking up in the hills in Berkeley, California. The harbingers of Spring in our area: light, cheery, delicate and pretty.

Next up a Double-barred Finch, one of a group that came down to the waterhole at Tenterfield Park to get a drink. I have cropped this photo and brightened it up.

This bird caught a huge fish and had difficulty swallowing it and it attracted a juvenile Bald Eagle that was in the area. I stupidly did not realize how many photos I had left on my card and did not see the Eagle that came in from the back of me and took the fish from the Cormorant so I missed that action.

I was trying to get a shot of the guy in the front and didn't know that there was a second one coming into the picture!! ;-)) Lucky me!!

The fall colors are reflecting in the water of the Fox with the evening light!

This diving ducks will head south to their wintering grounds, to see them again next spring when they return to their breeding (nesting) grounds!

Cormorants usually winter along the coast of the Pacific Ocean from Alaska to Mexico, and along the Atlantic and the Gulf coasts from Belize to North Carolina, as well as inland in ice-free areas along lakes and large rivers. They inhabit a range of marine and aquatic inland habitats. They need water for feeding and perches nearby, such as rocks, sandbars, trees, pilings, shipwrecks, wires, or docks where they can rest and dry out during the day.

Heather Farm, Walnut Creek, CA. Unlike most birds, cormorants have dense bones which are great for diving but also means they need a long runway to get up to flight speed.

Double Arch is a close-set pair of natural arches, one of the more known features of Arches National Park in Utah,Double Arch was formed differently from most of the arches in Arches National Park. It is what is known as a pothole arch;[3] it formed by water erosion from above rather than more typical erosion from the side. The larger opening has a span of 148 feet (45 m) and a height of 104 feet (32 m). These dimensions give the arch the tallest opening and second longest span in the park.

Groups of female Red-breasted Mergansers are everywhere at the Bolas Chica wetlands. There were so many territorial squabbles going on I was sure we had a mix of genders. The birds would swim happily in a group and then suddenly the water would churn with the movement of irate ducks.

I used a tutorial from sewdeerlyloved. Still in a triangle and rainbow phase it seems. I used Kona Putty for the background. I tried a bunch of layouts and this was the winner. I'm really starting to enjoy hand quilting. Again, I used Svetlana's (s.o.t.a.k. handmade) awesome tutorial for a hidden zipper closure on the back.

Galanthus nivalis 'Flore Pleno'.

This is the wonderful double form of the snowdrop. It adds further interest to the winter and spring garden and they have a wonderful scent. Awarded the RHS Award for Garden Merit.

The double snowdrop is not native to the UK and its origin is not known. It was first noted in this country in the early 1700s and immediately proved very popular.

Snowdrops are among the first bulbs to bloom in spring and can form impressive carpets of white in time. They generally flower between January and late March.

Height: 15cm

Common names: Snowdrop; Candlemas bells; Candlemas lily; Common bells; Fair Maids of February; Little Sister of the Snows; Purification Flower. Also known in parts of Yorkshire as Snow Piercers.

The generic name Galanthus, from the Greek gala (milk) and anthos (flower), was given to the genus by Carl Linnaeus in 1735. He described Galanthus nivalis in his Species Plantarum published in 1753. The epithet nivalis means "of the snow", referring either to the snow-like flower or the plant's early flowering.

The first record of the common name Snowdrop, appears in the 1633 edition of John Gerard's Great Herbal.

Myth, Legend and Tradition

A Christian myth tells that when Adam and Eve were banished from Eden, Eve was despondent and sad. After the wonder of Eden she found her new home cold barren. Summer had turned to winter and driving snow covered the land and an angel saw her and took pity upon her. He breathed onto the falling snowflakes and turned them into snowdrop flowers. The tapering blossoms bowed themselves humbly a Eve's feet and each open bloom revealed a touch of green promise for the return of summer.

The snowdrop is sometimes called the 'Candlemas flower, probably because it comes into flower about the time of Candlemas, 2 February.
