Flintlock 10 is a special operations forces exercise focused on military interoperability and capacity-building and is part of a U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)-sponsored annual exercise program with partner nations in northern and western Africa. · Used for hemoptysis due to pulmonary tuberculosis, premature abortion, excessive menstruation and blood in urine, bleeding due to piles.

· In New Guinea, root decoction used by lactating mothers to treat mammary gland infection. Juice from heated leaves used for colds, cough, and whooping cough.
· Infusion of new plant shoots used for filariasis. Stem juice used for postpartum illnesses and to help expel the placenta.
· Roots used to treat baldness. Leaf juice used for earaches, sore eyes, cough, stomachaches, eczema and gastritis. Roots used for treating toothaches and laryngitis.
· In Sumatra, outer part of the stem used with white sale for inflamed gums.
· In Hawaii, leaves used as heat pack; also for fever, asthma, chest congestion, headache, back pain, burns, constipation; flower juice snorted for nasal polyps.

Tomorrow, my grandmother, Velma, will be going in for her first dosage of chemotherapy. She's already purchased a wig, and I know that losing her hair will scar her terribly. She's even refusing to go to her regular church because she doesn't want people to ask her questions about the new hairdo. I offered to shave my own head, but she promised me if I did that she wouldn't speak to me (and if you've met my grandmother, she's not one to break a promise). I just worry for her. Send a prayer, to whoever your "god" is, please.
Many of you will know what these are as I suspect there’s a fair few of you who take them yourself. Anti Depressents- Happy Pills whatever you want to call them. They are used as treatment for OCD as well as anxiety depression etc. If you take them for OCD you generally have a larger dosage and they will take longer to kick in.
Over the years I had my ups and downs with OCD I was on and off them but they were prescribed mainly for Anxiety/Depression etc. I went to the Priory and on my first visit the psychiatrist says “those pills you have been taking don’t really work for OCD, you are on the wrong ones”. It just shows the importance of getting the right diagnosis, and I had been taking the other ones for years!
So I went on the new ones (the ones in this picture) and the doc warned me “They might make you feel worse before you feel better”. He wasn’t wrong. I felt like a zombie for two weeks! After that my recovery process started, the pills would have kicked in at the same time that I started the OCD treatment program so its hard to say what affect the pills actually had. The doc’s attitude is “who cares?” the “gold standard” (their words) is to have the treatment program and the pills together, they are much better together.
Although I am so much better there are still some odd side effects on these things (my sleep is crazy!). Now I am doing well I have started to reduce the dose and I am hoping next year to be medication free for the first time in quite a while.
So that’s the “Gold Standard” the CBT and Pills together. So many people just get the latter, we know that getting the former is extremely difficult on the NHS. So if you want the former you are paying for it. The thing is that you have to find your own treatment provider at a time when its very hard for brain to make sensible judgements.
I would say from personal experience finding a good OCD therapist is quite hard. I don’t need one any more but as an experiment I did local searches for therapists near me (using well known find a therapist websites), who could treat OCD.
There were plenty of hits all right, but the vast majority of them just had an OCD tag, on their profile page so it would trigger a search engine. Only a very small number on them actually listed OCD on their page of specialisms. And not a single one mentioned ERP (exposure response prevention) as an offered treatment. That’s a bit worrying as nowadays its considered the best OCD treatment available. I mentioned yesterday that a few list “thought stopping” as a treatment which actually makes the problem worse. I also got a load of hypnotherapists and Person Centred counsellors. Now I know many people have found hypnotherapy beneficial (I have to say I’m quite sceptical about it myself) for other issues but it does sod all for OCD. I am more positive about “Person Centered” counselling for other mental health issues but once again it doesn’t really work for OCD. So even if you’ve got the dosh to pay £40 - £50 an hour its not necessarily going to help.
This above all else has inspired me to campaign/raise awareness for the 1.2% of the population who have OCD. There are many terrible afflictions for which there is no treatment at all. OCD is not one of those and yet for many people it might as well be because the treatment is so hard to get hold of, even if you are in a position to pay for it!

Anyone that knows the Meester, knows that he will eat and drink some weird shit. Last year when I was away in Texas visiting Ms. Pants, he bought both Jones Holiday packs and proceeded to try almost all of them. I'm glad I wasn't home for that because I have issues with food that's turned into a liquid, let alone an entire meal.
Jones does this every year and quite frankly, I think it's totally foul. This years fare includes Pea, Turkey & Gravy, Sweet Potato, Dinner roll and Antacid flavored soda (complete with dosage cup). Personally, I think the Meester is going to need that last one.

The 3rd show at the newly relocated OhNo!Doom Gallery here in Chicago. The 7-man group show will bring Charlie Owens, Parskid, Tyler "MUTT" Coey, Toby Stanger, Brian Colin, Project Detonate & Matthew Ryan Sharp all together for a total, visual onslaught. Paintings, drawings, installations and various odd merchandise will be on hand for viewing and purchasing.
