My uncle was an antique dealer and my parents were avid collectors of Victoriana. The two things were in perfect alignment when he acquired this document cabinet with tambour-work front that was used to store deeds in a Victorian court house. I have posted a photograph with the front up.

The height is 67", the width is 42", and the depth is 23". I am not sure what it weighs but it is a great deal. When my mother moved from her home into an assisted living community we rented a truck and loaded it with a few pieces of her furniture. This case was our first choice. My husband and one of my mother's friends loaded it on the truck but I am still surprised they managed it.

There are 4 large drawers at the bottom, 20 wide trays in the center, and 60 smaller trays at the top. The 80 trays are very shallow and have no sides. They were used to store deeds. When my uncle acquired it he found several old deeds still in it including the deed to my grandfather's farm.

We have had it for several years but are still not using it to its full capacity. Some day I hope to have our collection of cased images sorted, stored, and labeled.

I was moved to make these photographs after visiting the set of photographs of her wonderfully organized photo room posted by Snapatorium. I never expect to be that organized but if I can get my act together maybe I can get this one cabinet organized.

Letter from family in Russia to Henry Wedel

The letter that is attached was sent in 1934.

I have no idea if these people were relatives of the Wedel family or what. For some reason this packet was saved.

Documenting rock carvings by use of the so-called rubbing technique (Kalleby, Sweden).

"The re-documentation of the rock carvings in Tanum was started in 1989 by Tanums Hällristningsmuseum Underslös and its supporting association, the Scandinavian Society for Prehistoric Art.

It is carried out at the international working seminars arranged by the museum every summer, where a group consisting of somewhere between 25 and 30 volunteers from four or six different countries work for a week on the project of documenting the rock art of Tanum/ UNESCO World Heritage Area."
