Following a partial shunt of the shed, the stock in the dock has been reordered. After nearly eight years at the station end of the dock, LBSCR has moved to the middle and been replaced by LBSCR 328. SECR 3188 / LCDR 668 is now at the south end (in the background).
Floating Harbour in Bristol, St Mary redcliffe Church in the background and unknown Norwegian flagged ship. Back when the docks were docks!
Had a little business to take care of in Gloucester today, so I allowed myself time for a bit of a stroll around the docks.
The Stanley Dock Conservation Area encompasses two areas of redundant historic docks
which are linked by the Dock Wall (1821-1848). It also includes the flight of canal locks (1848)
which provided the first direct link between the dock system and the Leeds and Liverpool
Canal (1816).
These docks have always been closed to the public but dramatic views into them can be seen
from the bridge between Prince’s Dock and Prince’s Half-tide Dock and the recently restored
rolling bridge between Stanley Dock and Collingwood Dock. Redevelopment proposals for
this huge site west of the dock wall provide the opportunity to make this fascinating and
highly authentic dockland area accessible to the public.

Standing on Tyne Dock Shed (52H) in February 1967, is Riddles 9F 2-10-0 no.92063, fitted with air brakes for working the Tyne Dock-Consett iron ore trains. Although the rods and number plate had been removed, she wasn't withdrawn until November that year, with only 11 year's work done.
The water tower at Docking in Norfolk is, sadly, somewhat disfigured by communications masts and antennae.
