Divinity School, voûte en style Perpendicular (1427-83) - dessin de William Orchard 1480
I have been so blessed to swim with wild dolphins! These images were snapped by the super underwater photographer SparkyLeigh. I used to love watching him dive down, flip upside down and blow bubbles out of his snorkel as he took shots like these.
Divinity School - A Celebration Service for Graduates at Benton Chapel. (John Russell/Vanderbilt University)
This is the building that was used by the Scottish Parliament between 1999 and 2004. It is now part of the University of Edinburgh School of Divinity.
Granny sent some sweet treats home with us, yesterday evening, and I thought this one-- called "divinity"-- was worth photographing, primarily because I will always associate this homemade candy with holiday get-togethers at my paternal grandparents' house.
Divinity is a very sweet, light, nut-laden confection. I've always thought of it as a Southern goody, but apparently it may not be peculiar to this region.
I don't know Granny's recipe (& so ought to ask, one of these days), but there are of course many to choose from online. On one such recipe web page, I found a Google ad for "diabetes recipes". Way to take the joy out of Christmas sweets, Google! (g) ...But the stuff is almost pure sugar. Definitely not an everyday snack.

Edward Everett Hale (Apr. 3, 1822- June 10, 1909) graduated from Harvard College in 1839. He was licensed to preach as a Unitarian minister in 1842 by the Boston Association of Ministers and was ordained in April 1846 as the minister of the Church of the Unity in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he served until 1856. He then served the South Congregational Society in Boston from 1856 to 1899. He was the author of The Man without a Country as well as 70 other stories and several novels. His story “Ten Times One is Ten” inspired the founding of the Lend-a-Hand Society, a non-sectarian charity that still serves the poor, the handicapped, children, and the needs of low-income individuals and families; he was its first president. In 1903 he was made chaplain to the Senate. Andover-Harvard has several collections of his papers and correspondence (bMS 512 and bMS 122), scrapbook (bMS 89), and sermons (bMS 110).
Harriet E. Freeman (Mar. 13, 1847-Dec. 30, 1930). served as secretary of the women's committee of the Massachusetts Indian Society (promoting Native American rights) and the Boston Fatherless and Widows Society. She was active in the Lend-a-Hand Society, and from the 1880s to the early 1890s she wrote and edited parts of the Lend-a-Hand Society's journal, The Look-Out. She became Hale’s personal assistant and probably co-wrote a number of his sermons and other works. The library has copies of Hale’s books that contain personal inscriptions to Freeman from Hale, and these inscriptions indicate a considerable collaboration between them. Hale’s hat and most of the photos of Hale were collected by Freeman (whose collection includes over 100 photos and sketches of Hale).

Woodland Cemetery in Hamilton, Ontario. I find cemeteries to be very peaceful, and all of the monuments, and statues are so beautiful. All of these photos were taken with respect, and memory.
