Sunrise is getting really early now - a 4am start, to climb up these hills for sun up. I was treated to some beautiful misty conditions, which bathed the landscape in a warming glow, despite the temp of 1ÂşC!

In fact the whole village is named after the Saviour. Sotira in Greek means Saviour. Sotira is a well-known village in the Ammochostos (Famagusta) area of Cyprus and plenty of old churches have survived in the village centre. The "Church of the Metamorphosis/Transfiguration of Christ" is currently closed. There is archaeological work going on, but the building was too small anyway and, in the 20th century, had been replaced by the "Church of the Metamorphosis/Transfiguration of Jesus". I'll come back to this interesting change of title. This old church here goes back to the 13th century, back to the time of the crusades and the French occupation of Cyprus. The building began as a simple barrel roof construction. In Venetian times, the dome was added, and the spire, also in Venetian style, is a 19th century product (still built during the Ottoman occupation). The archaeological dig showed that this church is resting on foundations of a fifth century Christian basilica. So, the question of who the Saviour is, has always been central to this village. Metamorphosis or Transfiguration denotes the visible appearance of Jesus, not as man, but as God. But "Christ"? Christ is already a title presupposing divinity, no need to transfigure here. That is why, I would guess, that in the 20th century the title was changed to transfiguration of Jesus. It makes more sense. Sense is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. If, as Christian doctrine has it, Jesus Christ was one person, but had two natures (God and Man), and if the Trinity consist of three persons, but having only on nature, there is trouble if you apply Aristotelian logic. Things are made not easier by the gospel of John which stipulates that Christ was always there with God and, therefore, had pre-existence. If you find this difficult, it only means that your mind is working. The question of who the Saviour is is not a puzzle the mind can resolve. But if you sing the question, turn it into sound, or into vision, you may be on a different path. Fuji X-Pro3.

I have photographed this old man many times over the years, Mostly as it stands proud surrounded by water. On this trip the lake held less water and I could acutally walk out to the tree and capture a fresh angle as the suns first rays warmed it's old skin.

Today is the auspicious day of Guru Poornima. "Gu" means "Darkness of ignorance" and "Ru" means "One who removes"
It is not often that I do pano shots. But the alpen glow across this Himalayan mountain range could only be portrayed in this format. Have just returned from a trip to Ladakh, India. Had the opportunity to explore places far off the beaten path and inundate both mind and soul in the positive energy of this magical place.
The Divinity School was built between 1424 and 1483 and is one of the oldest surviving purpose-built rooms in Oxford University.
This room is called the Divinity School because Theology, or Divinity, was taught in this room and examinations held here from the 15th century up until the 19th century.
Divinity was one of the main areas of scholarship at the University, along with Law and Medicine. The Divinity School was never a library but is now part of the Bodleian Libraries.

I feel like as a photographer, this quote has become increasingly more relevant to me the more years I travel the world. Each year, the world becomes a smaller place as global tourism increases exponentially in nearly all of the major travel destinations. And that means that it also becomes more challenge to visually portray these places in a new and unique way.
But saying that, the fact that so many photographers visit this location only motivates me. Since we can all stand here in the same place, I get excited about trying to capture something that has been seen countless times before in a new and interesting way. That’s why when a thunder storm rolled over the city center of Florence, I set up to capture the dazzling display!

New College is a historic building at the University of Edinburgh which houses the university's School of Divinity. It is one of the largest and most renowned centres for studies in Theology and Religious Studies in the United Kingdom. Students in M.A., M.Th. and Ph.D. degree programmes come from over 30 countries, and are taught by almost 40 full-time members of the academic staff. New College is situated on The Mound in the north of Edinburgh's Old Town.
New College originally opened its doors in 1846 as a college of the Free Church of Scotland, later of the United Free Church of Scotland, and since 1935 has been the home of the School of Divinity (formerly the Faculty of Divinity) of the University of Edinburgh. As "New College" it continues the historic commitment to offer a programme of academic preparation for ministry in the Church of Scotland, also made use of by ministerial candidates from other churches. In the 1970s the Faculty of Divinity also began offering undergraduate degrees in Theology and Religious Studies, and students in these programmes now make up the majority of the nearly 300 undergraduates enrolled in any given year.
The founding of New College came as a result of a religious conflict that emerged from the Disruption of 1843 in which clergy and laity left the established Church of Scotland to establish the Free Church of Scotland – free from state connections and submitting only to the authority of Christ. New College was established as an institution for the Free Church of Scotland to educate future ministers and the Scottish leadership, who would in turn guide the moral and religious lives of the Scottish people. New College opened its doors to 168 students in November 1843 and, under the guidance of its first principal Thomas Chalmers, oversaw the construction of the current building. A competition for design of the Free High Church and Free Church College was held in 1844 and, though not one of the winners, the design by William Henry Playfair was chosen and built 1845–1850. At the formation of the United Free Church, the United Free Church was granted the buildings, and the continuing Free Church operated from new premises in 1907. This Free Church College was renamed Edinburgh Theological Seminary in 2014.
Old church buildings and the Milky Way are such a perfect combination. I shot a sunrise at this rural church late last year and I knew I had to return to capture the Milky Way rising over it.
Morning at Cerro Torre, one of the mountains of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field in South America. It is located at Los Glaciares National Park in the border between Argentina and Chile.

We've known these raccoon kits since they were tiny little things. A while ago they were orphaned, quite likely before their ma taught them how to forage for themselves. They certainly know how to look pitiful.
I hope that between showing up here for handouts they're honing their natural hunting skills.
As I write this I hear their odd, alien-like chittering voices from the tree line beyond the kitchen window. I have a feeling that if I turn around I'll lock eyes with them looking at me from their perch on a branch.
