Sunrise is getting really early now - a 4am start, to climb up these hills for sun up. I was treated to some beautiful misty conditions, which bathed the landscape in a warming glow, despite the temp of 1ºC!

I have photographed this old man many times over the years, Mostly as it stands proud surrounded by water. On this trip the lake held less water and I could acutally walk out to the tree and capture a fresh angle as the suns first rays warmed it's old skin.

Today is the auspicious day of Guru Poornima. "Gu" means "Darkness of ignorance" and "Ru" means "One who removes"
It is not often that I do pano shots. But the alpen glow across this Himalayan mountain range could only be portrayed in this format. Have just returned from a trip to Ladakh, India. Had the opportunity to explore places far off the beaten path and inundate both mind and soul in the positive energy of this magical place.
The Divinity School was built between 1424 and 1483 and is one of the oldest surviving purpose-built rooms in Oxford University.
This room is called the Divinity School because Theology, or Divinity, was taught in this room and examinations held here from the 15th century up until the 19th century.
Divinity was one of the main areas of scholarship at the University, along with Law and Medicine. The Divinity School was never a library but is now part of the Bodleian Libraries.

I feel like as a photographer, this quote has become increasingly more relevant to me the more years I travel the world. Each year, the world becomes a smaller place as global tourism increases exponentially in nearly all of the major travel destinations. And that means that it also becomes more challenge to visually portray these places in a new and unique way.
But saying that, the fact that so many photographers visit this location only motivates me. Since we can all stand here in the same place, I get excited about trying to capture something that has been seen countless times before in a new and interesting way. That’s why when a thunder storm rolled over the city center of Florence, I set up to capture the dazzling display!

Old church buildings and the Milky Way are such a perfect combination. I shot a sunrise at this rural church late last year and I knew I had to return to capture the Milky Way rising over it.
Morning at Cerro Torre, one of the mountains of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field in South America. It is located at Los Glaciares National Park in the border between Argentina and Chile.
No mans land, no communication available execpt the Russian and Norwegian border patrols and God!

Entlang des Flusses ziehen sich kilometerlange, stufenartige Uferbefestigungen hin, die Ghats, an denen auf der einen Seite die Gläubigen im Wasser des für sie heiligen Flusses baden und wenige Meter weiter die Leichen der Verstorbenen verbrannt werden. Die Asche streut man anschließend ins Wasser. Ein Bad im Ganges soll von Sünden reinigen, in Varanasi zu sterben und verbrannt zu werden, ist der hinduistischen Mythologie zufolge, der Ausbruch aus dem ständigen Kreislauf der Wiedergeburt.
The Ghats in Varanasi are world-renowned embankments made in steps of stone slabs along the river bank where pilgrims perform ritual ablutions. The ghats are an integral complement to the Hindu concept of divinity represented in physical, metaphysical, and supernatural elements.[90] Varanasi has at least 84 ghats, most of which are used for bathing by pilgrims and spiritually significant Hindu puja ceremony, while a few are used exclusively as Hindu cremation sites. Steps in the ghats lead to the banks of Ganges, including the Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Manikarnika Ghat, the Panchganga Ghat, and the Harishchandra Ghat, where Hindus cremate their dead. Many ghats are associated with Hindu legends and several are now privately owned.
Many of the ghats were constructed under the patronage of the Marathas, Shindes (Scindias), Holkars, Bhonsles, and Peshwas. Most are bathing ghats, while others are used as cremation sites. A morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats is a popular tourist attraction. The extensive stretches of ghats in Varanasi enhance the riverfront with a multitude of shrines, temples, and palaces built "tier on tier above the water's edge".

We've known these raccoon kits since they were tiny little things. A while ago they were orphaned, quite likely before their ma taught them how to forage for themselves. They certainly know how to look pitiful.
I hope that between showing up here for handouts they're honing their natural hunting skills.
As I write this I hear their odd, alien-like chittering voices from the tree line beyond the kitchen window. I have a feeling that if I turn around I'll lock eyes with them looking at me from their perch on a branch.
