Sion, amongst others privately, also pointed out [unintentionally on my part! : )] that I'd only posted pictures of the back of Rach's head! Which, while having some fun with the dilemma of whether or not to keep the hair cut short from yesterday, has inadvertently extended this series... So, the series will now develop as the slow reveal of, uh, the front part of Rachel's head! : )

This shot has sat in my camera roll for about a year. Ive know idea why i like it, but i do. Shot from the hip, just playing around. Gives me a feeling of Hong Kong or somewhere but no, its Manchester again.

I have wanted to see this behavior for a long time. Having seen images I knew it was a behavior not uncommon for Least Terns. So last Thursday as I was watching these chicks I noticed them sneaking under the adult from the front and pushing far in. The parent had been turned parallel to my position but I kept watching. Then she moved another 45 degrees and I could see feathers moving and tiny beaks sticking out. I looked away for a moment and when I looked up, she had shifted with her tail facing my direction. And there they were, these two wee Least Terns snuggled safely and peeking out from beneath mamas tertials. <3 Living the dream! I confess that this is actually a frame pulled from 4K video, Canon 1DX II. I took stills but was happiest with this frame from the video. A video recap coming in the next day or two. June 28, 2018

fields, lakes, mountains, clouds, from the Chasseral pass. On this side you can see the lakes of Bienne, Neuchâtel and Morat (or Biel, Neuenburg and Mürten), and lots of mountains - maybe the Jungfrau if it isn't hidden by clouds.

On this particular evening, we had just traveled from Ashburton Lakes where clear skies led to progressive cloud build up. By the time evening arrived, there were all kinds of formations evident. I was shooting with Chris Carter, a traveler and photographer from the UK. We had set up facing Mount Cook and the glacier itself but when I saw the light starting to catch these clouds in the opposite direction, I tried my best to get a composition with the distant mountains and some foreground interest. There river was fast flowing so I couldn't go in too far but from this point, I was about thigh deep hoping the tripod wouldn't get washed away downstream.
We will be working on a post process video detailing how we use adjustment layers in our workflow so stay tuned in the coming weeks for that too :)

I had suuuch a wonderful day. Spent the whole time with my mom out and about and I got this glorious map, a fantabulous sweater, and decided on a hair style/dye that I'm gonna do for my trip! Oh, lifee. c:
