Seen at the 2026 Open Weekend at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum at Lathalmond, Fife, was this 1985 Leyland Olympian with ECW bodywork. It is one of a number of Edinburgh Corporation or Lothian Region Transport vehicles which have found a home here. It was displayed on this date with that elusive Edinburgh destination, CIRCLE, common to a number of routes at one time! Route 42 had become a circular service in February 1958 in the era of Edinburgh Corporation Transport. Circa 1981, Lothian Region Transport gave the circular routes different numbers in each direction so the clockwise service retained the number 42 while the anti-clockwise service became the 46. Circular routes were abandoned by Lothian in the early 2000s.

De tweede week van ons verblijf werd gekenmerkt door heerlijke zomerdagen met veel zonneschijn. Het is dan ook niet verwonderlijk dat het beproefde concept "ochtenduitstap en in de namiddag luieren aan het zwembad" werd bovengehaald vanaf dinsdag 16 juli.
Ik stond die dag nog eens lekker vroeg op om richting Allgäubahn te trekken: nu dat de RE-treinen tussen Stuttgart en Lindau terug met de loc in de normale richting reden, leek het me een goed idee om nog wat Alex'en en 218 voor de EuroCity's te scoren voordat deze onherroepelijk zouden verdwijnen.
Bedoeling was om de eerste ALEX uit München op het viaduct in Maria Thann vast te leggen, maar aangezien ik weer voor mijn uur vertrokken was, konden er eerst nog wat treinen op de Gürtelbahn van af.
En zo hield ik deze vakantie toch nog halt aan het puntje in Nonnenhorn waar er ondertussen naast de armseincombinatie al een opvolgermodel was gezet.

The semaphores were still standing at Nonnenhorn but replacement was near, as one could already see the brand new Ks signal at the 16th of July 2019.
In the meantime one of the first trains of the day in direction of Lindau was passing by. This one is coming from Singen (Hohentwiel) and uses a class 612 DMU, here freshly repainted in bwegt colours.

I did "survive" the day.
But days like this is no joy when many of my good colleagues has been sacked because of the finical crisis, dropping sales figures.
Less of all of course, for those that has to look for another job in a time where it is hard to find new jobs.
But also for their bosses who must make the hard decision. And for those still in the department. One pair of hands less to run the new projects and take care of the daily support of our users.
We have to look for how to handle the new situation.
We might have to adjust the direction.

Al centro della piazza, preceduto da un portichetto su quattro colonne antiche, è l’oratorio di Sant’Andrea (IV-XII secolo), restaurato nel 1602-1606 per volere del cardinale Cesare Baronio e ultimato dal cardinale Scipione Borghese (1607-1608) con la direzione di Flaminio Ponzio. L’interno è a pianta rettangolare senza absidi e nicchie; di notevole pregio il soffitto ligneo a cassettoni, realizzato da Vittorio Ronconi nel 1607, nel quale è inserito lo stemma della famiglia Borghese. Tra le opere: “Flagellazione del santo”, affresco del Domenichino (1608); a sinistra “Sant’Andrea condotto al supplizio”, affresco di Guido Reni (1608); all’altare “Madonna e i Ss. Andrea e Gregorio” del Pomarancio (1602-1603); ai lati “San Pietro e San Paolo”, affreschi del Reni; in controfacciata, “Ss. Silvia e Gregorio” di Giovanni Lanfranco.
In the center of the square, preceded by a small portico on four ancient columns, is the oratory of Sant'Andrea (4th-12th century), restored in 1602-1606 at the behest of Cardinal Cesare Baronio and completed by Cardinal Scipione Borghese (1607-1608 ) under the direction of Flaminio Ponzio. The interior has a rectangular plan without apses and niches; of notable value is the wooden coffered ceiling, created by Vittorio Ronconi in 1607, in which the coat of arms of the Borghese family is inserted. Among the works: "Flagellation of the saint", fresco by Domenichino (1608); on the left “Sant'Andrea led to the torture”, fresco by Guido Reni (1608); at the altar "Madonna and Saints Andrew and Gregory" by Pomarancio (1602-1603); on the sides "San Pietro and San Paolo", frescoes by Reni; on the counter-façade, “Ss. Silvia and Gregorio” by Giovanni Lanfranco.
