Digitally drawn on Procreate using an iPad Pro

I was inspired by the iconic photo ‘Queen II album cover, 1974’ so I used a still from the 2018 Bohemian Rhapsody film. The official posters had a purple based colour scheme so I used that in my own work along with the yellow title font. In the background I used the Queen logo to make the composition more interesting.

Artist-in-Residence Sarah Comfort appreciates this specific, familiar graphic quality of digital imagery. “If you look at my lines, you can see that they’re pixelated,” she says. “It’s normal for a digital image to try to fool the eye into thinking it’s something else, something real. But I’m not trying to hide that these were created on a computer.” Read more about Sarah on our blog: bit.ly/sarah-comfort

Portrait Black and White of Norman Reedus. #DigitalDrawings

pen and ink on paper (original) - digital remix

Detail-

This portrait is an exploration of the Milwaukee’s history, as well as my own experience with this place. It’s laden with symbolism and references to the things that made Milwaukee a city, like alcohol brewing, iron business and trading, some of the original plant life, and patterns that reference Milwaukee’s first socialist mayor, Emil Seidel. Juxtaposing that is my own experience here, watching. Alcoholism, cold weather, and the stale taste in my mouth.

Kitten Academy's foster momcat Loom with her kittens Argyle, Basketweave, Chevron, Paisley, Herringbone

A Christmas present for my mother, a quilter. She taught me to sew - though I don't do it often other than some basic mending.

I ended up getting sick and finishing it up on Christmas Eve so I sent it to a 2-hour photo place next to her house so she could have it in time.
