This is done using Krita rather than mypaint. Both programs have good and bad points but I really appreciate Krita's capacity to make large sweeping marks quickly -- something that mypaint struggles with in a conceptual sense. Krita could well suit "artists" rather than "illustrators" (to generalise). If only the interface wasn't so overwhelming (mypaint's is far less in-your-face).
I drew/coloured this picture of O'Malley Cat from the disney movie 'The Aristocats'. It's such a cute movie. haha.
It took a couple of days. The first drawing that I actually finished, so I was kinda proud of myself.
All done in GIMP and with a tablet.
Here is another quick digital drawing made in Photoshop. Again I kept in mind what I have been doing with my art journal. Playing with layers and patterns have been fun for me. Nothing was planned other than I wanted to mimic a traditional Japanese pattern I saw and go from there. Since work has slowed down a bit for me, I am hoping I will be able to post up some of these types of drawings several times a week to make up for me dropping the ball on posting frequently.
