trying out different painting/drawing type brushes in photoshop.
might try an illustrator outline too.
Using a portrait from: www.morguefile.com/archive/display/955580 - I liked the emotion in the face which I wanted to explore. I used a variety of filters and then used Topaz Labs Simplify to add a softer pastel effect. I then used Google Nik Software Analog Effects 2 Wet Plate Filter to create the surrounding marks.

Start the year as you mean to go on...
My first bit of art for 2019 was a digital sketch I did on my phone before I'd even got out of bed. This is a more or less abstract impression from memory of my viewpoint sitting opposite the fireplace in my brother's sitting room last week.
I'll be turning this into an acrylic painting before long.
In case you're wondering, the fireplace is on the right in the picture. On the left is a bookcase surmounted by 5 blue bottles, and in between those and the fireplace is an abstract painting my brother did in a style similar to some of the works of Mark Rothko.

A dear friend of mine made this digital drawing of Riley for me. I think it is quite lovely so I'm putting it up for you all to appreciate.
Riley would have celebrated his 11th birthday on Nov. 6th. I miss him so much. He is still in my heart.

Old white ceramic insulator from my Dad's farm fence graces this birdhouse inhabited by chickadees. I could hear the babies chirping inside. Saw the parents flying into nesthole, very busy feeding young.
