As I had difficulty finding a location with an unobstructed view I missed the arrival of the winner at the finish line by about ten minutes. In case you don't know here are the results:
Geoffrey Ndungu won the Dublin City Marathon for the second year running in a time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 9 seconds. The time was outside last year's course record time of 2:08.33.
Paul Pollock from Belfast was the first Irish man home in ninth place in 2:16.30, ahead of Sean Hehir who finished in 2:17.50.
Magdalene Mukunzi was the first woman home in a time of 2:30.46 which was outside the course record of 2:26.13. Maria McCambridge was the first Irish woman through the finishing line in 2:35.28.

A total of 14,300 people registered for this year's race which was without a major sponsor for the first time in 20 years.

This is a route that goes all around the perimeter of the municipal area of L´Escala, with the exception of Cinclaus, going along the coastal strip and returning inland.
Technical Specifications
- Departure point: Cala Montgó
- Type of route: Round
- Distance: 18 km
- Time: 6 hours
- Difficulty: High (because of the distance involved)
To follow the route:
The route starts at Cala Montgó and from the beach itself you head towards L'Escala, along Carrer Trenca Braços, on the right, coinciding with the GR-92. Once at the top, in front of Illa Mateua Beach, in Carrer Punta Montgó, turn left to follow the sea, following the GR-92 markers. Go past the Punta dels Cinc Sous, Cala del Salpatx and Les Penyes until you get to Port de la Clota.
Then cross over the port by Carrer Romeu de Corbera, until you come to Riells Beach. At the beach, walk along Passeig del Petit Príncep until you get to Passeig del Mar, which takes you, following the coast, to the old centre of L'Escala. Carry along Passeig Lluís Albert and Port d'en Perris to La Platja. From La Platja (the main town beach) take Carrer Cargol and then Ronda Mar d'en Manassa, on your left, following the coastline. Go past La Creu small bay where you will see the fishermen's huts. This coastal path takes you to the place known as L’Oberta, from where you can see the beaches of Empúries. Walk along the Ronda del Pedró for about 200 metres and when you get to the Lampadòfor (the lamp bearer, the sculpture built to commemorate the arrival of the Olympic flame) turn right to take the Empúries Promenade.
The Empúries Promenade is two and a half kilometres long and runs parallel to the beaches of Empúries. It takes you past the Platja del Rec, Platja del Portitxol, Platja de les Muscleres and Platja del Moll Grec beaches, and you come to Sant Martí d'Empúries, which is the end of the route.
Go past the village of Sant Martí d'Empúries, heading south, taking the main road that leaves the village. From the same road, take the left at the first path you come to, and continue along this path towards Mas Sastruc. At the crossroads with Mas Sastruc, carry straight on and cross over the main road at its narrowest part. On the other side of the road, near the Tourist Information Office, take a path there is on the left that will take you to Les Corts farmhouses, signposted as "Camí de les Corts a Empúries", go between the farmhouses and turn left towards El Molí de L'Escala restaurant, until you come to Camp dels Pilans, in Carrer Muntanya Rodona. This will take you to a path that heads south, right at the edge of the houses. You will find a signpost that labels the path "Via Heraklea" and from here on, follow the livestock path which winds between the pine trees. You will come to the large pine tree known as Pi Gros, carry on towards the south until you reach the road to Bellcaire. Cross over this road and go into the car park of Els Recs farmhouses, from here go to the football pitch and take the path behind it heading south, until you get to Cortal Nou. From Cortal Nou, take the "Termes" Path heading east, go through the old sand quarry, following the green and white markers, cross over Carrer Punta Milà and following the perimeter of the campsites, you will get to the end of the route, Cala Montgó.
Others values:
The value of this route lies in the combination and variety of spaces and landscapes; on the one hand the route takes you along the coast, going past a large number of beaches and small bays and panoramic viewpoints. On the other hand, it takes you past farmhouses and along rural paths with great landscape and botanical interest.
“My thinking is, in spite of the difficulties and the constant necessity to compromise, it is a good thing to have another mammal in your shed.”
Rack
That’s the best news, and lovely to hear, and beautifully put too (as expected). Yes, to mutually grooming mammals in a shed, it’s what it comes down to eventually. It is all about compromise. I see it everywhere here, being surrounded somewhat with disappearing older couples, and singles, as younger ones wait patiently, and sometimes very impatiently, for the be-pensioned to slough off so they can build their extensions, and destroy the lungs of the community, those large gardens, between the houses, by putting up their carbuncles and patios where they can entertain their space-heaters and their fellow aspiring breeders of the next generation of cheap-flight aficionados, champing at the bit to turn Odessa into a tourist destination once again.
But it has always been so, it’s called life, appetite, consuming, expanding, and eventually collapsing in on itself, to make room for the next generation of extension builders. Poor hobbled Herbert, upstairs (he had one of those new-fangled chair-lift things installed on his stairs so he can get up there), is busy leading the zimmer-framed resistance. We receive his missives regularly, pushed through our letterbox, those calls to arms, in that fight to save those lungs. Having gone wrong all of my own life, I can’t scream out that this, or that, is where you are going wrong, at the space-heater brigade, I mean. We all get to ‘go wrong’ for ourselves, and get to see it later, one of the glories of getting to that point where you can’t really run around anymore, so you settle in to contemplating your own navel. And what a navel exercise that is.
I am presuming that shed of yours has solar panels, or that some of your energy is provided by you, and that other geriatric mammal, cycling on stationary bicycles attached to the National Grid.
Needless to say, we join the fight, and canvas the powers that be to stop this atrocity, but if I tell the truth, I don’t really care. I know, utterly amoral, but that’s how it is. They will win, they have to, simply by dint of time, they have more, and their wondrous noisy offspring have even more of that ‘commodity’. Yes, let them build their double-glazed carbuncles, their paved paradise (nod to Joni there), and put up their space heaters, as if this dominion is a God-given right, which of course it is, according to their life-style supportive creeds. But then I don’t believe in ‘life-style’ any more than I believe in ‘choice’. It’s all just life expanding until it collapses in on itself, just like everything else. Mulch, mulch, manure, yum yum.
At the same time, I do love Herbert’s late flourish of energy for the game. I see it as being similar to deciding to write, late in the game; a, perhaps, final attempt at a Viagra-free salvo. There is, apparently, still some time to play the old three-legged fool. Nobody is listening, but who cares anyway?
Mr. David Shield’s ‘Reality Hunger’, as I said, is indeed wondrous, or at least I find it to be so. It took some little getting used to, being made up of over 600 aphorisms, numbered from one to the last number, so initially you have to get used to waiting for the counting to be over before the story begins. Then you realise the ‘story’ is the counting, and it is saying that the story has to catch up with now, the theory being that we are somewhat stuck in a formulaic 19th century story-telling mode, whilst the rest of the world has moved on. He extols, somewhat, the collage approach, but that’s just a small part of his ‘story’. I like his idea that all stories, all novels, are memoirs and all memoirs are fiction. I am there, as I make my own story up, that fiction we tell ourselves about who we are, all of us do it. The collage I get, I am currently looking at it in David Foster Wallace and others. I know it in post-Duchampian art very well, now I somehow have to generate it here with words. De Selby was an earlier manifestation of the same, and of course Joyce. There is too much to read, it’s happening on the seeping and expansive margins, but at some point you have to stop reading and start playing with it yourself. I feel almost there.
It is way beyond playing actually, I know that. There is no safety net, none at all, no rules and no safety net, just like life. Do and die, or don’t and die, it’s more or less all the same.
The only answer I can come up with, at the moment, is ‘DUH!’
Otherwise I hardly ever use exclamation marks.

Former Korn guitarist Brian Head Welch marks a new beginning with the announcement that his band will now go by the name Love & Death. “I put this band together in 2009” states Welch. “Since then, we've experienced some very intense highs and lows. Michael Valentine, Dan Johnson, JR Bareis and myself have toured around the world playing a lot of killer shows, but we've also had some heart shattering difficulties along the way as well. To us, the name "Love and Death" symbolizes everything we've been through as a band over the last few years. We love this band so much and we'll go through hell to connect with our fans. We've proven that to ourselves over and over again.”
With Love & Death, the music now lives under it’s own banner. “Many people have confused my speaking dates and our band dates because they were both being booked as Brian Head Welch” says Welch. “I have wanted to go to a band name for branding my music for a few years. It has been an ongoing discussion with my management, but we were just starting to tour and I was in the middle of supporting my third book and it seemed like a bad time to switch brands. Now with the new music coming out, its time to really separate the things I do. I want the music to be about music. I will still be doing public speaking under Brian Head Welch. I am happy that all the confusion will be over.”
Love & Death formed when Welch decided to have band try outs on YouTube in 2009. “I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix” says Welch. “Over the last couple of years, there have been a few line up changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of this new brand.”
The band’s latest single “Paralyzed” is already #5 on the BDS rock chart (the single was released under the name Brian Head Welch). “Paralyzed” was produced by Jason Rauch (Red, Breaking Benjamin) and mixed by Lee Bridges (Third Day, Newsboys). “‘Paralyzed’ was one of the first songs co-written with Producer Jason Rauch” states Welch. “He came to me with the idea and we both dove into it until it was all there. Jason is really helping me get back to crushing riffs. My first solo CD was an experimental album so the riffs were definitely lacking. Today's a new day and I'm excited about the future. ‘Paralyzed’ is only a taste of what's to come.”

I should be back on tonight. I have updates for 365Days, but everything has wreaked havoc on my nanowrimo. I hope I can still catch up...
There were a few clear views of the snow-blanketed Rockies straight below, and the terrain here was almost at the edge of the Wilderness (though all the scenery here was in fact within it).
The difficulty in taking low light photos on a boat is that, even with a tripod, you need to use high ISO settings because the boat is moving, especially when at anchor. This photo, taken at ISO 1600, F11, and 1/40, had a great amount of noise in it. In the process of removing the noise it created a much softer feel, than I originally intended. At this point its OK with me, as it it the end of February here in Canada right now and the moment of this capture is more of a dream to me than a sharp vivid memory.
Technical difficulties meant no stock today :( It's all sitting here, fully photographed/ edited and ready to be posted but I felt it was a little unfair to be posting at Midnight.
So I 100% Promise it will be loaded up tomorrow :) My best guess says I'll start some time between 1 and 2pm CST. (Yay for not having classes or errands or real life things!)

this photo was taken with great difficulty on the deck of Ganagaramaya Simamalakaya with hundreds of people crossing over. there was this brilliant yellow light coming from a street lamp near by which gave a perfect temperature. with the help of a friend to spot me i moved to the opposite side of the deck and stood at the edge of it and took this . to amplify the warmth and the emotions of the mom i wanted to frame them with the mass crowd passing by and came out perfectly :)
Respiratory difficulties reduced Tamara's gustatory and olfactory receptivity, sometimes to her advantage, as when we discovered Buenos Aires Cat Sanctuary #4, a giant litterbox on a street corner. But when we stopped at the heladeria, as we did nearly every night... alas.
Avenida Coronel Diaz, at least this portion of it, is beautifully canopied with jacaranda trees and other trees whose names I do not know.
Focus on Eldercare's response to COVID-19
At the purpose when the noxious impacts of COVID-19 showed first in Wuhan, the entire city and therefore the entire of Hubei Province ground to a halt. The lockdown of Wuhan brought remarkable torment and threatening difficulties for several individual occupants therein first focus. Presently, COVID-19 represents those equivalent difficulties for individuals and social welfare frameworks all-inclusive. Especially, it tests our aggregate endeavors to believe one another, particularly the foremost defenseless among us.
As a populace, individuals quite 70 will generally have more fragile insusceptible frameworks and progressively fundamental conditions that obstruct their capacity to battle the infection. They're likewise sure to dwell on bunch day to day environments, nearby people. Floods of COVID-19 passings in nursing homes — first within the Seattle territory, at that time on the brink of Sacramento and now during the country — have underscored this inauspicious reality. Up until now, Californians quite 65 have made up, at any rate, a fourth of the state's affirmed instances of COVID-19.
Be that because it may, guidelines, especially for helping living offices, are unsafely failing to satisfy the expectations in protecting California's older folks from this infection. Luck, Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan on Aging activity, as of now ongoing, presents an opportunity to forcefully address this peril and find how to secure an enormous number of more seasoned Americans.
Helped living focuses are an aid to the Eldercare business and therefore the enormous corporate proprietors that currently command the market. Simultaneously, in any case, an absence of guideline and oversight of staffing levels and capabilities — particularly prerequisites for on-location doctors and much prepared clinical experts — has left the business defenseless against misuse and unfortunate results. One glaring issue that has got to be tended to: helped living focuses are directed by the state Department of Social Services rather than the Department of Public Health.
In any case, it helped to measure maybe a piece of social welfare and clinical consideration conveyance framework, not only a direction for living. Propelled a year ago, Newsom's plan on Aging has framed a warning advisory group, is holding open gatherings and within the fall is planned to offer a 10-year plan which will address issues from lodging and vagrancy to crisis readiness to manhandle and disrespect. The venture has made a "Value Committee" to urge a contribution from a progressively differing gathering of residents and associations, including agents of the crippled network, Native Americans and other ethnic minorities.
Considering the spreading coronavirus general wellbeing emerging, it's basic that the representative's plan on Aging takes on an expansive and genuine open arrangement job. We weren't bothered with elevated level clichés for tending to the wants of the old. We'd like solid arrangements, solid guidelines with implementation teeth and a guarantee to continued oversight.
The Age of COVID-19
Older people who get themselves out of the blue alone without authority over their conditions are at specific hazards for an assortment of serious, even hazardous, physical and psychological well-being conditions, including a subjective decrease. Limitations on the opportunity of development ought to be proportionate and not founded solely on age.
COVID-19, as different irresistible melodies, represents a higher hazard to populaces that live in nearness. This hazard is especially intense in nursing or matured consideration offices, where the infection can spread quickly and has just brought about numerous passings. About 1.5 million older people individuals live in the nursing homes in the US, barring helped living offices and different settings making nearness.
Twenty-three individuals kicked the bucket in a flare-up at an office in Washington State in February and March, and the US Centers for Disease Control detailed 400 additional cases in offices as of April 1. On March 31, wellbeing experts in the Grand East district of France detailed 570 passings of older people in nursing homes.
Older people often end up in nursing homes due to governments' inability to offer adequate social types of assistance for individuals to live freely in the network, approaches that have put millions at included danger of getting the infection as a result of their organization. Governments ought to guarantee the progression of network-based administrations with the goal that individuals don't wind up in organizations without different alternatives.
Expound now on the roles played via care laborers in continuing the lives of the old during that emergency, and who, however dreadful themselves, by and by remain day in and outing inside the bounds of their wards to offer fundamental consideration.
Care supervisor Chang, the woman in charge of the consideration laborers among whom I led my hands-on work, coordinated the change of her ward into a self-sufficient fixed of a unit of care. The passage to her floor is carefully monitored; just fundamental conveyances are permitted, for instance, nourishment and clothing. Since nobody can enter or leave the structure, the flask for the older was transformed into a dozing region for care laborers. Despite the very fact that a lot of consideration laborers have their circle of relatives to require care of, they put that piece of their life under the control of others. Care specialist Lin, whose spouse died at the start of the pandemic, did not have the chance to completely grieve his passing due to incessant understaffing at Sunlight. She came back to figure following the burial service, despite realizing that she not, at now expected to figure at Sunlight to hide her significant other's clinical costs. Lin's arrival says much regarding her promise to her calling, to her colleagues, and to the old she had come to understand so well. My examination with care laborers recommends that it's an enthusiastic association and an awareness of other's expectations that propels them to remain the end of the day in care work. This is often borne out immediately.
Carefully add China is often seen as being grimy and unfortunate, thanks to an excellent extension to its nearby hook up with the realistic consideration required by slight, skilled bodies. Chinese consideration laborers are for the foremost part provincial to urban transients or urban specialists laid far away from previous state-claimed processing plants. In any case, direct consideration is intricate. In any case, its unpredictability goes unrecognized, or maybe disregarded by institutional powers that organize benefits and generalize the old as bodies to chip away at, to the disregard of their social-passionate necessities. As is valid with Sunlight, things which might typically undermine the keenness of care laborers, for instance, the absence of institutional acknowledgment for his or her enthusiastic work, are required to be postponed. Care specialists are currently centered around a shared objective: ensuring the gift assistance of the older. COVID-19 propels care laborers to consider what kind of care is required and the way to offer that care. It fills in as a channel through which the elemental beliefs of care are observed. Care is about common human weakness and our intrinsic association. Care laborers at Sunlight, in their aggregate every minute of everyday endeavors to secure the older, typify this ethic through their consideration. May the respectful regard, they hold of the older in their consideration redound on them and everyone consideration laborers overall who are fighting this pandemic on the bleeding edge!
Like the consideration laborers at Sunlight, the laborers in numerous nations are regarded human life so that we cannot be embarrassed to return clean with the leading edge about ourselves. Salute the spearheading staff who salutes our purposeful endeavors to handle the pandemic in numerous settings around the globe, within the daylight, yet additionally to ensure that veterans are appropriately treated, took care of and washed.
We all hope and pray that the coronavirus will soon be controlled and subdued. And that when the crisis is behind us, that we continue the important work of protecting the elderly and other vulnerable segments of our citizenry.

Our cheese is ready for ripening, but we lack the proper facilties.
Normally a refridgerator thermostat is hacked to be able to hold 54F
degrees. An additional container is utilized to hold a high humidity
of 85%. Both the temperature and humidity would need to be held for a
period of 2 months (minmum). Since these hurdles are significant we
decided to just vacuum bag the cheese and toss it in our fridge for now.
The season of growth has just begun - leaves sprout in the soft sunshine and everywhere the grass is green and lush. How pleasant to wander in these rolling hills.
We go through so much in a normal lifetime - seasons so fresh and easy that they are a breeze - and times that are so tough it seems that the good times will never return - seasons - we live our lives in them - it is just the way of things. Sometimes it may feel like God has abandoned us - but the truth is he is nearer to us all than our next breath.

They may wish to improve credit, increase savings, or decrease debt to put them in a better position to buy a home or rent.
“Fresh Start reaches Delawareans who have struggled to recover and get back on the path to financial stability,” Ben Addi said. “Losing your home or job is painful and a significant challenge, but with the right coaching and assistance, we can help Delaware families move forward again.”

Can you imagine the sheer difficulty of photographing public urinals. First you have to wait for the flush to get rid of the yellow water in the bottom. Then you turn round and find there is a parent of a five year old giving you a suspicious look. He does not say anything but I can see he believes I am some kind of pornographer hanging around the toilets waiting to photograph his son and heir. He then makes a strange growling noise in the back of his throat
I make my excuses and left red faced.
I will have to pay another 5.95 to return another day to photograph the other four. ho-hum
Luke Jones from Wales won the wheelchair section.
A total of 14,300 people registered for this year's race which was without a major sponsor for the first time in 20 years.
During the 1990s the difficulty of attracting new residents to the Home had resurfaced to the extent that, by the end of the decade, occupancy was down to six. The resulting financial loss to the Bethesda Fund had increased from £15,000 in 1992 to over £100,000 in 1999. The Fund's secretary assured those attending the Gospel Standard Societies Northern Meetings on 11 September 1999 that a provisional decision to close the Home had been taken only after
“much thought and prayer for guidance. Many of the points made by our friends who are understandably upset at the proposed closure are matters that the Committee agonised over for many months before the decision was made. There is a deep concern for the aged residents, how they will stand up to a move, and also the staff who have given such loyal service. Not least is the Committee's concern over the future of the chapel...”.
At the Annual Meetings of the Societies held on 28 April the following year it was announced, “with great sorrow” and “after taking all known factors into account”, that the Haydock Home would indeed close at the end of June 2000. It was announced, further, that
“the Trustees of the Haydock chapel have agreed with the Bethesda Fund Committee jointly to market the chapel and the Home. Planning permission for redevelopment of the combined site has been obtained and agents have now been instructed to seek a buyer...”.
Final services were held at the chapel at 3pm and 6pm on Saturday 1 July 2000, the late Ralph C T Warboys of Oakington Baptist Chapel preaching at both services. A notice of 2 November 2001 in the London Gazette advised that “the Registrar General, being satisfied that Providence Strict Baptist Chapel, Haydock, [is] no longer used by the congregation on whose behalf [it was] registered for marriages in accordance with the Marriage Act 1836, has cancelled [its] registration”.
This is one of my first evenings out with my camera, after getting
home from Manila....and finding the community in darkness and
ruin.....Typhoon Odette.
No electricity in most of the city. Only a few areas have power,
and the rest have to get by with portable generators or candels.
This is near Gaisano Grand Mall, Basak. Telecom and power
lines are on the ground, causing much difficulty for all. The street
is immediately to the right of the wires on the ground.
The difficulty here was to get the transmission scales to match with the visible and the IR spectroscopy. The sensitivities of the spectrometers are different and so it is difficult to use the same sample illumination for both. I calibrated these data with a separate observation using very similar illumination which resulted in low IR s/n - but good enough to set the relative scales. The absorbance has been scaled for the ~8mm depth of the sample to a standard 1 cm depth.
Spent today removing the gas fire / boiler from the fireplace in the living room and then removing the bricks that had been used to reduce the opening size.
The summer of 1974 was probably my most fun summer ever. That summer, because of the oil difficulties, there were no summer jobs in the area. I had just completed my freshman year at GOCC and my brother just finished his junior year at Carthage college. We tried in vain to land employment that summer but there were no jobs to be had. My brother ran into a high school friend, Denise who was helping put together a summer theater program at Glen Oaks and she wanted to know if he was interested in joining the cast. The summer line up was mostly set up but the cast was sorely needing males. My brother agreed to join and then also added that I had nothing better to do and that I would join too. My brother always was looking out for me! This turned out to be a pretty good deal too because I got 8 college credits for my efforts and it was all on scholarship, so it didn't cost a penny.
During that summer, we put on six shows, one every week (with a one week off during the middle of the season). We worked everyday, all day, rehearsing, building then striking sets. This was so much work. I appeared in 4 shows I think, all but one were relatively minor roles (no small roles, only small actors). I did have one major part as Timmy in the "The Subject Was Roses". This was a three person show where I was totally over my head as a thespian. I was horrible! No matter, I did manage to get through the three performances with only wounded pride and the knowledge that I should probably stick with the sciences as a career.
The final show was a sort of talent show, where we showed off our theatrical learning experiences and any individual talents we may have possessed. Since the show needed filling out, my brother and I quickly worked up (read stole) a "Smother Brothers" routine and performed it for the final show (see the next photo in this set). I think this went over pretty well too. One other memory from that final show, Terri and I had rehearsed an elaborate fight scene that began the show. During dress rehearsal, our fight took a real turn when I determined that I was just a fraction of an inch too far from Terri as he delivered his "fake" punch and moved forward slightly. Pow! I took it right in the mouth and played the show the following three nights with a highly made over fat lip. That'll learn me!
Yup, this was one incredible summer. I had my first date, learned to drink beer, performed with a really fun (sometimes odd) and talented cast and didn't have to work (at least for a job). One other positive thing that came out of this summer, the GOCC theater director offered me a full theater scholarship for the following year and all I had to do in return was to appear in the theater productions during the school year (although one would have to wonder why on earth I would get a acting scholarship because I was really a horrible actor). Not too shabby.

While some students have difficulty balancing their new found passions with their studies, RJ Nakkula, ME BSE Student, has more of a literal juggling act as President of Jugglers on Campus at the University of Michigan.
Having a passion for juggling and magic since age four, Nakkula continued his passion when he came to the University of Michigan as one of two members of Jugglers on Campus as a freshman four years ago. Committed to his craft and passion, Nakkula added to the core group one by one as he did when he was first learning how to juggle. The group now has over 20 active members and involves itself in a variety of performances across campus annually.
Having difficulties finding Domino's favorite flavors. Apparently there is a cat food shortage, and manufacturers are unable to keep up with the demand. These were the depleted shelves I found at Fred Meyer's (Kroger's), and the other stores in Battle Ground look the same. Domino is not all that fussy but she has her preferences and so I have ordered a supply from Amazon.
I know I saw this somewhere cause it said: "The picture that was shown when LU went down for a little while" or something like that.

Another great demonstration of the difficulties and hazards caused by the ignorant drivers who park outside the church (on the left) almost daily now.
This section of road has long been blighted by inconsiderate parking by visitors to the church which is situated through a gateway to the left of the picture.
I have flagged this issue to the council on two separate occasions, and I have also written to the vicar of said church, imploring him to ask his "guests" to park in the large (usually almost empty) FREE car park that is situated about 40 yards from the church. Utilising the car park would leave the church-goers with a walk of no more than 100 yards from their cars to the church door.
Opposite the church is the church hall, which is passed by a very narrow pavement. The pavement is further obstructed by 4 or 5 buttresses which stick out from the church hall wall, forcing pedestrians to have to step onto the road, or to have to cross to the other side... risking being hit by oncoming traffic, the drivers of which may not have seen them due to the buttresses and/or the cars parked alongside the church.
Immediately at the far side of the church hall is a concealed junction into a residential street, which sees it's fair share of vehicles attempting to exit the junction, usually turning left towards the main road (50 metres away), and with the view to the left partially obstructed by the aforementioned buttresses. Due to the cars being parked alongside the church, traffic turning left out of this junction then meets oncoming traffic coming head-on on the "wrong" side of the road... occasionally with the added hazard of pedestrians skipping round the buttresses while the head-to-head vehicles take evasive action! The pedestrians virtually take their lives in their hands every time the walk to the parade of shops on the main road, behind my position above.
In spite of the obvious hazards, the adjacent free car park ( less than 40 yards away), and the fact that I have written to the vicar pointing out the difficulties caused by this parking, these church-goers continue to park here almost every day of every week with no consideration to the safety of others.
I don't know if there have been any injurious accidents to date, but I am sure that if and when there is one, the selfish, ignorant, lazy drivers will simply turn the other cheek.
Note: I am aware that there are no yellow lines or other marked parking restrictions, so, as such the drivers parking here could argue that they are not committing an offence. However, one can still commit an offence of causing an obstruction or driving without due consideration of other road users (including cyclists or pedestrians) by parking in a position which creates a danger to others, such as that seen in this image.
A perfect demonstration of the problems caused by inconsiderate, lazy drivers parking here can be seen here.
