SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT....

Coming around the rampart I couldn't resist trying to capture the light coming down through the trees.

It is easy to get caught up in our day to day lives in our own worlds. Depending on the circumstances, our outlook on life can be promising or bleak. Most of us are fortunate and regardless of what kind of day we are having, we get to go home at the end of the day. However, some of us do not have a home and life’s perspective is different.

This is what happens when you wake up go hit on a ball machine at 5 am.

I ruined this drink. Thanks to 1/2 oz of lemon that saved the moment. The original recipe call for 1 3/4 oz Rum (done), 3/4 oz Amaretto (done), 1.5 oz Pineapple Juice (didn’t have, so used Saffron Juice; why?! I don’t know ‍♂️). Like with the lemon I added which was not in the recipe , Meh

The chairs stood perfectly arranged, unwittingly betraying the messiness of life.

Akane stood at the ground floor of the Picasso Museum. Children from at least three schools - given away by their differently patterned uniforms - filed about in orderly queues.

"Are Parisians born with this innate sense of organization?" she thought.

She sat against one of the columns, dropping her tired headphones to her neck.

"Numb like never before," she sang lightly. Her eyes hopped between the straight lines of the marble pilars and their mirror-like distortions in the tiled floor. Two groups of children were already milling orderly up the squared spiraling stairs.

Some kept throwing her curious looks - a few even squinted, as if trying to mimic her.

A kid - all spectacles, ears, and chubby hands - approached her. On his chest, a sticker spelling "Bonjour, je m'apelle" flashed bright red against the green and white pattern of his uniform. "ALI" jumped out of the sticker in its careful blue cursive.

Photostream on Black ■ Much Better this way ■

I've been feeling a bit different lately. My sight has been poor also. And my neck has been hurting like hell.

I asked my parents to take a look but they couldn't see any difference.

Weird :(

This panel explored different investment opportunities and learnt why all foreign investors agree that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an attractive opportunity that cannot be missed. The country’s strategic geographic position, investor-friendly legal environment, favourable trade agreements, competitive tax and customs systems, low operating costs, and talented people make it a destination full of potential for profitable investments.

In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Denis Zvizdić introduced the country’s great investment potential. He was followed by Sir Suma Chakrabarti, EBRD President, who described some of the Bank’s wide-ranging activities to promote sustainable growth and innovation in the Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to encourage potential and existing investors to the country, and so is at the disposal of investors at every phase of their projects; from starting a business and selecting a location, to networking with relevant institutions and stakeholders, implementing the project and expanding business.

This special session focused on specific areas in which Bosnia and Herzegovina has enormous investment potential. Boosted by planned strategic investments, these focus areas can yield high profits and generate overall economic growth. Areas of specific interest include the energy sector, metal processing and automotive industry, furniture manufacturing, food processing, the tourism industry, and IT sector.

The audience heard success stories about private sector initiatives, and how abundant resources can be turned into profitable investment projects with the potential for further growth. Specific examples include:

- Bit Alliance, an association of 58 major IT companies with more than 2800 experts.

- Olympic Centre Jahorina, host of Winter Olympic Games in 1984 and Youth Olympic Games in 2019, recognised as the most promising winter resort in the Western Balkans region.

- Prevent Group, the largest private sector company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a global contract manufacturer with strong sales and logistics expertise.

- MS&Wood, a design-oriented solid wood manufacturer which has won awards at many international fairs.

- Mljekara Livno (Livno Diary), the brand owner of “Livanjski cheese”, a high-fat solid cheese with a specific flavour that is widely recognised as a top quality product.

Different Women. Different Opinions. Great Conversations!

Escaped London for the weekend, and this morning I finally got out and about with the camera to go see some wildlife. Of course the first thing I encounter when leaving the house at 6 this morning is a fox!

Less than 30 seconds after I walk out of the front door its running straight towards me and stops no more than a few metres away (3.76m according to the exif data) In disbelief and complete lack of preparedness I scramble for the camera and fired off a few shots only to realise the camera was set to +1.0 exposure compensation and I was shooting handheld! :-(

Disappointing outcome, but great experience!

I don't typically do the song lyric thing, but I've heard E.T. at work several times and I think part of it fits Vera.

I FINALLY got my paws on Vera Tabray. I stalked both the Amazon and Walmart listings for her and checked them multiple times a day, only to get fed up when I heard of people finding her in stock on those same listings. (I've since left that board. I prefer a more helpful community.) FINALLY I happened to catch her on Amazon and ordered immediately.

She arrived yesterday and brightened up my horrible 10.5 hour double shift workday. I got to see her in her box in between shifts, then opened her when I got home. I was too tired to take pics, so I just did them now.

Vera is easily my favorite Novi. She's likely too over the top for a lot of people. She has butterfly-ish antennae and butterfly wings, but her wings are skeletal and include a tailbone. Her body is this lovely pearly peachy-pink fading into transparency at her hands, but her thighs are transparent and show silver bones underneath and then the same bones form her legs from the (unbending) knees down. She has adorable skeleton feet. She also has three glittering silver eyes with snake pupils and if you look at her pupils, you see tiny ghost faces. Then her outfit is simple and elegant until you get to the spinal cord bracelet.

Vera is a stunning blend of typically feminine things, like pink, butterflies, glitter and fairies, and horror elements like the 3 eyes, skeletal bits and ghost pupils.

Her pet Fibi is my favorite of the Novi pets, too. He's just adorable.

They hit it out of the park with this doll. Anne, Ina and Mimi are all awesome, too, and they follow the also awesome Malie and Tula. I hope the line continues, although I don't think they could ever top Vera!

Considering the different child protection concerns in the refugee context, UNICEF has been supporting the child protection programme both in Kule and Terkidi refugee camps through partnership with Save the Children and Plan International Ethiopia since 2014.

Since December 15, 2013, the violence which broke out in South Sudan has forced thousands of South Sudanese to flee their homes and seek refuge to neighbouring countries including Ethiopia. The total number of South Sudanese refugees who have entered to Ethiopia since the outbreak of the conflict in mid-December 2013 is now over 300,090 individuals and there are also 32,880 refugees who are residing within the host community (UNHCR: 17 February 2017).The number will also continue to increase since there are still new influxes on daily basis.

International Mother Language Day has been observed every year since 2000[5] to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The date represents the day in 1952 when students from different educational institutions such as Dhaka University, Dhaka Medical College demonstrating for recognition of their language, Bengali, as one of the two national languages of the then Pakistan, were shot and killed by police in Dhaka (near High Court), which is the capital of present-day Bangladesh.

The term "mother language" is, itself, a somewhat awkward calque translation of the term used in a number of "Romance languages"—e.g. lengua materna (Spanish), lingua madre (Italian), langue maternelle (French), and so on. A more fluent English translation would perhaps be "mother tongue", though "native language" is the most readily comprehensible term in English. In linguistics, in fact, "mother language" refers to an ancestral or protolanguage of a particular branch of a language family.

International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in November 1999 (30C/62). On 16 May 2009 the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution A/RES/61/266 called upon Member States "to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by peoples of the world".[6] By the same resolution, the General Assembly proclaimed 2008 as the International Year of Languages, to promote unity in diversity and international understanding, through multilingualism and multiculturalism.Social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coexistence within and among nations. We uphold the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants. We advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.

For the United Nations, the pursuit of social justice for all is at the core of our global mission to promote development and human dignity. The adoption by the International Labour Organization of the Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization is just one recent example of the UN system’s commitment to social justice. The Declaration focuses on guaranteeing fair outcomes for all through employment, social protection, social dialogue, and fundamental principles and rights at work.

The General Assembly proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007, inviting Member States to devote the day to promoting national activities in accordance with the objectives and goals of the World Summit for Social Development and the twenty-fourth session of the General Assembly. Observance of World Day of Social Justice should support efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.

Three New York Army National Guard Soldiers, along with five other National Guard Soldiers from across the country, rehearse the specific movements and commands of a full military funeral during the 80-hour, Train-the-trainer Military Funeral Honors course at Camp Smith Training Site on June 21, 2016.

Ten Army National Guard Soldiers were selected to attend the two-week training at Camp Smith, NY from June 13-24, 2016, which is designed to "train the trainer" so current Honor Guard members can return to their home states and train others. The training prepares each Soldier to execute the six different positions in a military funeral detail. This is the first time that

Camp Smith Training Site is holding the course.

Different shades of gray and yellow cover the central region of Anatolia. There is a lack of greenery because the sun bakes the soil and there's never enough rain. It's hard for people to live in the middle of a plateau. When the parching summer passes, then winter's snow and cold take their toll. Still, the plateau is a secret paradise, a feast for the eyes. The Bird Paradise in Nallıhan, 170 kilometers from Ankara, is an example of this feast. As the Kizilirmak and Sakarya rivers supply life to the plateau, the area near the rivers has become a habitat throughout history for humans and other various components of nature. Nallıhan Bird Paradise was sanctioned by the General Directorate of National Parks, Hunting and Wildlife in 1994 and is state protected. It is one of 70 bird sanctuaries in Turkey and more than 170 kinds of birds inhabit it. You can see flying creatures such as falcons, hawks, eagles, Egyptian vultures, red herons, pelicans, greenheads, shags, pintails, cranes, partridges, woodcocks, quail, geese and crakes............Don't use this image on websites, blogs or other media without my explicit permission.
