This is a rare ivory sarinda, a four-stringed instrument associated with north Indian folk and devotional music. Here is has been transformed into a luxurious status symbol fit for a king or queen. The handle features a dragon-headed beast gripping an elephant while swallowing another.

On either side of the sarinda, winged angelic figures hold shields and swords. These symbols of royal power and conquest were popular in the Deccan Sultanate of Golconda - beasts in combat adorned its city walls from the 1550s onwards.

Intervention on an intaglio print - selfportrait

For the Austin Weekly Flickr Meet-up, we had colors to pick from and take photos. Mine was Red. So, being weird, I asked Amanda to help me paint my face Red and SIlver and put my hair in pigtails. Peeps were also involved.

Another statue of the savage underworld denizens ("Gui", pronounced as "Kuwee" which is analogous to a Western ghost) who judge/punish souls who do not qualify for heaven.

This area was creepy for me, and even more so for my companions who didn't enter this area.

TG and F have known each other their whole lives, but this was the first time we all got together that they spent significant chunks of time actually playing together. It was so great to see them playing in the yard and with various toys. When they came back to the table for desert TG was upset. The cause? His chair was too far from F's. Awww.

The famous Subway $5 Footlong. Can you believe the deal. This thing was massive. It was a turkey on wheat with no mayo, no cheese, extra veggies, extra mustard.
