An immature gull takes flight with a stolen bivalve, looking for a safe place to break the shell and devour the goods.
I'm not exactly sure what is happening here but I'm guessing that the spider (which is laying upside down and covered in what looks like webs) was killed by something else and the ants just took advantage of a free meal. Photographed in Maryland today.
This little golden cherry was the decoration on a key lime pie we devoured over the weekend. No pics of the pie, this is all that's left :-)

"Roughly translated, the word ‘Wendigo’ means ‘the evil spirit that devours mankind’. Another translation, said to be made by a German explorer around 1860, equates the word ‘Wendigo’ with ‘cannibal’. Wendigoag are said to have an insatiable hunger for human flesh - no matter how much flesh they eat, they remain hungry.
This hunger is reflected in their appearance, which, according to some, is extremely thin. Despite their gaunt physiques, Wendigoag are described by some as giants, measuring at about 4.5 m (14.8 feet) in height. Whilst there are slight variations as to the physical description of this creature amongst the different Algonquian peoples, it is generally agreed that Wendigoag have glowing eyes, long yellowed fangs and long tongues. Most Wendigoag are also said to have sallow and yellowish skin, though others say that they are matted with hair or have decaying skin."

Nine species of bat make their homes in New York State, and the interesting Little Brown Bat (Myotis lucifugus) is among them. These fascinating creatures—as most know—use echolocation to find and devour insects on the wing. One bat will feast on thousands of mosquitoes and other insects each night! Interestingly, they catch them in flight within their wings or tail, before snapping them up into their mouths, causing the bats’ erratic flight patterns. In the winter, they sleep communally within hibernacula, where up to 300 bats may occupy one single square foot of space, each one’s heart beating a mere once every five of so seconds! Incredibly, it seems that there are only about five hibernacula in New York State—these caves and abandoned mines serve as the congested hibernation spots for all of our bats!
Whether it be flesh or metal, all that satiates the great hunger burns alike.
Just a quickie made in a couple hours. I only used parts I had gotten from Bricks Cascade back in May. Nothing else!
Thank you Loafbuilds for the edit!

Though I provide them mainly for the Eastern Bluebirds, just about every species of birds devour the mealworms - including this male Northern Cardinal. Photo captured in my yard in NE Oklahoma.
The Yellow Garden Spider —Argiope aurantia traps his prey.
Garden spiders eat insects, including many common pests like mosquitoes and wasps. Garden spiders trap their prey by spinning webs that the insects fly into.
Not to be mistaken for the common "Banana Spider" (Nephila clavipes) these spiders also create a very interesting zig zag pattern into their webs.
Insects make up the majority of a garden spider’s diet, but they may also eat slightly larger prey, such as small lizards, if they get caught in the spiders’ webs. They can also devour moths, mosquitoes, flies, butterflies, grasshoppers, (obviously cicadas), and even small snakes.
As always, thank Y'all for your kind remarks and comments.
Hope everyone is enjoying this late Summer weekend !
This beautiful speciman was busy devouring a frog on a limb at Jungle Island. He was not intimidated at all by our presence as he became part of the annual bird count.
Took this movie down at Dave’s dad’s. The little fawns we’re out like crazy and devouring his roses and other plants.

'A visitor might descend upon this planet a thousand times and never see a tiger. Yet tigers exist, and if he chanced to come down into a jungle he might be devoured.'
(From: The Horror Of The Heights, In: Tales Of Terror And Mystery, by Arthur Conan Doyle, 1922).
Returning to the ferocious jungle of Shaidrapur in the summer of 1921, officially on a research expedition, I came across, quite unexpectedly and to my delight, the lovely Lady ChinaGirl, beautifully dressed in exquisite and fashionable fabric, at the isolated and nearly abandoned jungle outpost.
She had been shopping and was in search of her two pet tigers, Bunny and Irma La Douce. They had run off and were playing hide and seek.
Her smile was radiant. We stood in a sea of jungle plants, we chatted and we exchanged pleasantries. We discussed swamp fever, the price of coconuts, and the delight of herbal tea. Her smile was - radiant. I think I mentioned it already. It felt like morphine.
I felt a small sharp pain in my left leg. I looked down and the intelligent, gentle brown eyes of Irma La Douce greeted me. I did not mind in the slightest. I felt no pain. Not much.
Bunny would not be far away now.

Jour 276
Sunflower seeds were planted at the end of spring. Unfortunately the magpies devoured most of them. Three survived and are trying to grow sunflowers now. I took pictures on October 2 because we forecast a risk of freezing that night.
Tus fracasos devoran tu corazón
En cada hora, te ahogas
en tu imperfección.
Your failures devour your heart
In every hour, you're drowning
In your imperfection
