Tons of fun with Devour The Light today. I absolutely love the lighting on these, I find it amazing.

These are sandhoppers, amphipods of the family Talitridae. Many species are found in the intertidal zone, on and around the shoreline. Many are scavengers, feeding on kelp, carrion and other organic matter that washes up on the beach. I observed these ones devouring a small peice of kelp on Rincon beach park in Carpinteria, California
Maddy has loved Shakespeare with a passion ever since she saw an unusual staging of Romeo and Juliet (punk Montagues versus militaristic Capulets) as an impressionable 14-year-old. She devoured her local library’s collection of Shakespeare videotapes, and thus a lasting obsession was born. Although not quite up to Maddy’s level of appreciation, Marty is a Shakespeare fan himself, and the two have spent many long, nerdy conversations debating the best film version of Hamlet, the wisdom of “updating” the setting and/or context of the works of Shakespeare, and whether the “Stratford” actor Shakespeare could have actually been the same man who wrote the plays attributed to William Shakespeare.
When Marty was living in New York City, he kindly indulged Maddy’s Bardmania with not one, not two, but THREE Shakespeare theater experiences. The first two were enjoyable enough (Jude Law! Cross-dressing!), but the third play they went to will be cherished as one of the most romantic dates in the history of ever.* Claiming he had to work on Friday morning (not unusual), Marty snuck over to Central Park at an ungodly early hour to wait in line for the free tickets for Shakespeare in the Park. Hours and hours later, he returned to his apartment triumphant, told Maddy he had a special day planned for them but refused to divulge any further details, and they spent the afternoon lazing on a blanket in Central Park reading, eating street food, and sun-drunkenly grinning at one another. After much wheedling from Maddy about their surprise activity in the evening (would there be food? should they be dressed up?), Marty led his clueless girlfriend around to the other side of the park, where they found a production of A Winter’s Tale had somehow appeared. In addition to having the most infamous stage direction in all of Shakespeare (“Exits, pursued by a bear”), A Winter’s Tale will forever have a special place in Maddy’s heart for being a part of the perfect Central Park day.
Not quite sure what the story was here, but the man under the plants was crawling along as if being attacked or devoured by the wild grasses. While the person balanced on the bike rack filmed it all.

Abandoned since 1956, the town of Kolmanskop in the heart of the Namib desert in South West Africa, is slowly being reclaimed by Nature.
Metaphorically, to me, the sand represents time and the doorways represent different chapters in our lives. As we move from one to the next, each room fills with memories, knowledge and experiences shaping who we are. I used a fish eye lens on this shot to accentuate the sheer volume of sand as it swells inside the fragile wood structures.
With some reluctance, that is. A grand master of the culinary arts, Griff wasn't expecting his seaside dinner to be THIS fresh (www.nickgreenwood.com).
