I was so happy with the colors here. I didn't have to toy with the saturation at all. Made me giddy.
A Tibetan monk prostrating himself outside the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. He will continue until he is fully prostrated, lying flat on the ground, then he will stand up where his hands were and continue circumnavigating his way around the Potala Palace. Taken with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm lens.
I've know Justin for I imagine close to 40 years. His lovely wife Jan I've only known for the past 3 years. The two of them are what those in the southern states would call 'good folk'....super people that would give you the shirt off of their back. I'm proud to call each of them friend......

All Saints, Brandeston, Suffolk
A relatively civilised village in the wilds of high Suffolk. The church is most famous for its Vicar John Lowes, who in the 17th century was hung as a witch by protestant extremists.
The Mitchell River begins in Alleghany County into Surry County and is a tributary of the Yadkin River part of the Pee Dee River watershed which empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It is know greatly for its Trout Fishing, delayed harvest. Photography by Keith Hall Photography Elkin NC.

El diablo nuestro de todos los dÃas
Los Diablos Danzantes de Naiguatá, una de las manifestaciones culturales más emblemáticas de Venezuela, se celebran en la costa del estado Vargas y son reconocidos por su colorido y fervor. Cada año, durante la festividad de Corpus Christi, los diablos danzantes salen a las calles vestidos con trajes vibrantes y máscaras impresionantes, realizando danzas y rituales que mezclan elementos de la religión católica con prácticas ancestrales indÃgenas y africanas. Esta celebración, que data de la época colonial, no solo es una muestra de devoción religiosa, sino también un sÃmbolo de resistencia cultural y unidad comunitaria. Los diablos danzantes rinden homenaje al SantÃsimo Sacramento, pidiendo protección y bendiciones para su pueblo, y al mismo tiempo, preservan y transmiten una rica tradición que fortalece la identidad cultural de Naiguatá y atrae a numerosos visitantes cada año.
Our Everyday Devil
The Dancing Devils of Naiguatá, one of Venezuela's most iconic cultural expressions, take place in the coastal region of Vargas state and are renowned for their vibrant and fervent celebrations. Each year, during the Corpus Christi festival, the dancing devils parade through the streets in colorful costumes and striking masks, performing dances and rituals that blend Catholic traditions with ancestral Indigenous and African practices. This celebration, dating back to the colonial era, is not only an act of religious devotion but also a symbol of cultural resistance and community unity. The dancing devils honor the Blessed Sacrament, seeking protection and blessings for their community while preserving and passing on a rich tradition that strengthens Naiguatá's cultural identity and draws numerous visitors annually.
Detritus of Devotion is a painting about the violence and hatred caused by religious intolerance, and the wars it has ignited throughout the ages. The angel descending is Religion personified, made of elements symbolizing the worlds three largest monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. As cousins of each other, they revolve around a commonly shared ancestor, Abraham, represented by the goat that was slaughtered in place of his son. Religion is composed of various iconographies, as well rats and military ordinance, representing the destruction and decay brought fourth out of ideological discord. The woman lying dead on the ground is Peace, who has been slain by Religion in all its fury. She is distinguishable by the olive-branch crown and twig which she possesses, as well as the barren cornucopia once filled with the fruit of happiness. The setting is middle-eastern from whence developed all three faiths, representing the cradle of civilization. Set before the city of Jerusalem, innocent children of all three faiths weep and mourn the death of Peace, while a procession of crusaders moves past Arab soldiers in the distance, and the four horsemen of the Apocalypse ride ahead of the oncoming wrath of God.
