The 2020 Holi Adventure with Paramahamsa Vishwananda was infused with devotion as it took place in Vrindavan, India, and the ashram of the Shree Giridhar Dham. Fortunately, it was held just before the onset of big changes in the world due to the Coronavirus, so a large number of devotees from all over the world were able to experience the joyous festival of colours known as ‘Holi’ and visit many of the sacred sites where Lord Krishna’s lilas took place.
During this time, new deities were installed at the ashram, too: Panduranga, Rukmini, and a unique Hanuman/Garuda.
A truly memorable trip for everyone in so many ways!

how far can devotion go? well it can go as far as your faith tells you to. from the dawn of civilization people have been showing their veneration to god through different methods which only the individual will see fit in his own way to express his devotion. many of these ways have become customs and traditions in different cultures. to some it may even be caring for a statue of the child jesus and caring for it just like a child, bathing it and changing its clothes everyday because they believe this form of expression of their devotion will bring them security and good blessings. in manila there is an industry that makes a living out of selling clothes for different saints for any occasion or just for daily use. some of these clothes are very elaborate and very colourful!

One Heart.
One Love.
One Life.
It's like dat.
This is a bit weird you may think, but I needed a picture of devotion for school. Fernando played along perfectly. On Black
From Paris' oldest church: St. Germain des Pres - the El Greco is a copy.
I'd have more photo's from this church if it hadn't been so dark. I did manage to visit the marked; but barely notice-able tomb here of Rene Descartes: who sits along-side David Hume in my pantheon of mind-frying philosophers.
Photochallenge Day #259: Devotion.
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.

The month of October saw the conclusion of our annual Forty Hours' devotion as well as the anniversary Gala to close out our 125th parish anniversary!
Forty Hours' Devotion presented our parish family with a beautiful opportunity to adore our Eucharist King enthroned upon the high altar. Upon concluding Forty Hours with benediction, the celebration continued at the While Eagle with a fine meal in the company of over 300 guests.
In addition, several parishioners were recognized for their indispensable support for the parish throughout the years. Last but not least, the Canons were overjoyed to welcome their newest novice, Br. Mateusz Szymański!
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE (Patroness of the Americas and the Philippines)
DEVOTION TO OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
OPENING PRAYER TO
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE
Heavenly Father, You sent Your only Son to become one of us having been born of the Blessed Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we may be reconciled to You and to one another, we are truly sorry for our sins. In choosing to sin and failing to do good, we have sinned against You and Your Church. We firmly intend with the help of Your Son, through the intercession of Mary, His Mother and Our Mother, to make up for our sins, and to love as we should. Amen.
NOVENA PRAYER
Lord, Our God, You have chosen Mary to be the Mother of your Son, who gave her to us to be our Mother too (Jn. 19:27). Grant that through her maternal care and protection, the sick may be restored to health, the sorrowing may be comforted, the alienated may be reconciled, the downtrodden may be uplifted, our families may remain united, our young people safely guided, and our elderly graciously attended.
Grant to us who call on her through this novena, the blessings and graces. That through the centuries you have showered on all who sincerely, faithfully, and devoutly come to her. For never was it known that anyone who fled to her protection, implored her help, or sought her intercession was left unaided.
Trusting that you have given her to us as Patroness through the Holy See under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and encouraged by the wonders she has brought to the Cebuano since she was introduced to us during the baptism of the first Christian ancestors, we now confidently pray that You would graciously listen to our prayers. As we invoke her help and intercession. Amen.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and the hour of our death. Amen.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
(A short pause follows in which one may ask from Our Lord through the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, the special grace desired in this novena. Then the following concluding prayer is said.)
PRAYER TO THE VIRGEN DE GUADALUPE
O Virgin of Guadalupe, our Mother, look upon us now and turn to us your merciful eyes. In the beginning of the Church in Cebu your image was given as gift at the first baptism. Like the disciple John, our ancestors receive you and treasured your image in a cave. Without ceasing the Cebuano people sought refuge in you and without ceasing you showed yourself truly their Mother. In 1902 the Bishop of Cebu sought refuge in you during the Cholera pestilence and when your image was brought out in procession the pestilence ceased. Now once more, the Cebuano people together with our Bishop (name of present Bishop of Cebu), and priests seek your protection from all dangers and evil we are facing today. Specially the forces that seek to undermine the integrity of marriage and the family.
O Mary, cover Cebu with your mantle of love and compassion and protect us. Keep faraway from the people of Cebu, O our beloved patroness, all evil. Once more show yourself a mother to us O gentle, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, Patroness of Cebu. Amen.

Another shot of the golden statue at the Samye Ling centre in Eskdalemuir.
From their own website: "A wonderful 5 metre high Green Tara statue has recently been built by Lama Thubten Kunsal in the new herbal medicine garden to the right of the Samye Liberation Gate. Green Tara is said to embody the loving compassion of all the Buddhas. Her female form symbolises wisdom and her posture with the right foot extended represents her readiness to help whomsoever needs it. The Green Tara prayers, recited to overcome fear and obstacles, are chanted in the Samye Ling Temple every morning between 6 and 7am."
Lucky her!
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Everyday during this month, Muslims around the world spend the daylight hours in a complete fast. During this holy month Muslims all over the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice, Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking. The Arabic word for "fasting" (swam) literally means "to refrain" - and it means not only refraining from food and drink but also from evil actions, thoughts, and words.
Devoted souls congregate and pray to the almighty for peace and mercy as Ramadan is said to be the month of forgiveness.
