St Thomas School Fete fun.
We positioned ourselves under an old tree which sheltered us from the rain and the hot sun (yes there was both!) and hung postcards of book covers and the Summer Reading Challenge from the branches along with some bunting.
Joe Blackman and myself worked our socks off encouraging the customers over to the stall
I managed to do a presentation on stage for a very chuffed Book Tracker winner also advertising how brilliant our library service was, of course.
RADIO EXE mentioned the library several times throughout the day and our competition 'Spot the Spider' (a grid based game) went down a storm. About 130 odd people had a go (adults and kids)! The biggest pull was that it was FREE and you could win something. Oh and the sweets on the table helped too.
Anyway I believe over 350 people that day must have seen or heard something about the St Thomas Library, which we are happy with.

On Monday 24th June, St Thomas Library held a special story time to celebrate National Book Start Bear week. The Little Princess puppet (which I made earlier) read fairytales to a large audience of little princesses and princes who dressed up in costume. The children were all given crowns to wear and sang songs - "When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears" helped along with laminated characters from the story. It was a resounding success and we have been asked to put on similar events by the child minders who attended.
The Giant’s Story at Exeter Library was part of the South West England Big Dance Weekend. The dancers from a local school told tales of South West England myths and legends through dance. The dance was linked with the Summer Reading Challenge launch weekend. After the dance the children sat outside on Exeter Children's Library patio and listened to 'The Hidden Forest' by Jeannie Baker.
The new Teen section at the library has a saggy bottom - not that I am in a position to comment of course!

Can you help us identify where this rather distinctive house is? The house is a nice example of Victorian vernacular architecture and we believe the picture was taken at the turn of the 20th Century.
