Chatterbooks Book Explorers, the children's book group at Okehampton library, have been shadowing the short listed books for the Greenaway medal. We particularly liked Millie's Marvellous Hat by Satoshi Kitamura, so we designed our own marvellous hats.

We made our own Where's Wally scenes. We stuck a picture of Wally on a piece of paper and then cut out pictures from old magazines to put around Wally to hide him. Great fun - and free!

Sci-fi/Fantasy collection and teenage area

As part of our 6-book Summer Reading Challenge Mischief Makers event programme we held a drop-in craft activity. Crafters of all ages enjoyed creating their own take on the Beano's Gnasher.

Kyle won first prize in our Elmer, Hunt the Elephant competition and won a free family entry ticket to Pecorama at Beer, kindly donated by Pecorama. Kyle and his brother both entered the competition and both found 9 Elmer pictures hidden around the library. I hope that Kyle will let his brother take advantage of the prize that he won and hope the family have a great day out.

The children pulled their house badge out of the sorting hat, listened to an extract from a Harry Potter story, made potions and bookmarks, went on a treasure hunt and played a Harry Potter circle game.
