I LOVE making these and, of course, eating them too!

Even the nasturtium is edible!

I'm not sure how I feel about this picture. I've tried to photograph this in a few ways and this is the best one. Of course, Tom and Zach have no problem eating them after I'm done!

When I posted the hardboiled eggs and indicated they were to become egg salad...everyone seemed to prefer Deviled Eggs. I know they're a bit late for Germ's birthday, but here they are. The Man is on a protein binge, so I've been making them everyday.

Deviled Eggs.

Another Movie Night with the guys, and Stormtrooper Bruce has been working hard all week to make this one "extra" special. Let’s hope the guys fall for it, er, um... approve!

TK-432: Dude! What a feast! What's the occasion?

TK-1110: How did you manage all this? We heard the P assigned you Clean Up duty in his Botanical Gardens this past week.

STB: He did. His Spring Fling starts this weekend, so I was tasked with getting everything ready.

TK-432: You mean like making sure the gardens are all weeded and pruned, the Photos with the Easter Bunny booth is placed in the right place, and the Egg Toss arena is roped off?

STB: That just the tip of the iceberg. Don't forget all that graffiti that needed to be removed! Did you know Vader is still a Hater, for a good time you need to call Data, and we all live in a yellow submarine? Some of that stuff is insane!

TK-432: Oh, I do love reading all that graffiti. Sometimes I've even taken some photos of the better ones!

TK-1110: What about the Bake Off? You haven't mentioned that.

STB: Three guesses, and the first two don't count. Palpatine is holding that next Friday - so that'll definitely cut into our Movie Night time!

TK-432: Not to mention, you'll be nutting up all next week getting your entry ready. I'm surprised you haven't already made half a dozen cakes for up to sample tonight, like you always do!

STB: Oh, you silly Padawan, the evening is still young. The fun starts during the second movie.

TK-1110: One last thing - what are those bunny ear thingies for?

STB: Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies.

November 2 Is Deviled Eggs Day

Deviled Eggs are celebrated and eaten on this day. Deviled eggs—also known as eggs mimosa, stuffed eggs, and dressed eggs—are made with hard-boiled eggs that have been cut in half and had their yolks mixed with ingredients such as mayonnaise and mustard. Many other ingredients can be used, such as tartar sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and usually a seasoning—such as paprika—is sprinkled on top. In the 19th century the term "deviled" referred to foods that were spicy, and many times deviled eggs are made spicy by being sprinkled with things such as cayenne pepper. Deviled eggs are oftentimes served as hors d'oeuvres or appetizers before a main meal, and are popular during the Christmas season in the United States. Many a potluck meal may include 24 deviled eggs as someone will prepare a whole dozen. Considering the cost of a dozen of eggs these days, compared to a pound of ground beef, your investment of time may be worth the effort. Plus, eggs are a source of protein!

How to Observe

Celebrate the day by eating deviled eggs! Some grocery stores sell them, but it is probably best if you make your own!

my best friend turned 40 yesterday and had a party last night. i ate most of this platter, i think, and consumed a fair amount of Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. that's the right wine to go with deviled eggs, right??

Turkey legs, stuffing and a few deviled eggs.

I haven't made these for a few years but I remembered how fun and well received they are. Time to make them again. Easter deviled eggs...the chocolate way. I think my staff will love them on Sunday.

Stormtrooper Bruce is working on the Death Star Homeschooling alphabet aides, a project Palpatine dreamed up and elected STB to deliver. Hoping to devote his full attention to his next installment without any distractions, his plans are suddenly derailed.

Darth Vader: Pardon my intrusion on your... whatever this is, but after my discussion with Palpatine, I just had to come and see for myself!

STB: Sorry sir, not to be disrespectful, but what are talking about?

Vader: The Emperor advised you're relieved of duties while you work on his project. I assumed the project was devoted to danger, deception, or would at least include dynamite. Is this some kind of trap?

STB: Sir, this is a photoshoot, a visual display for the alphabet. I won't deny it's harder than it looks. Lots of angles, staging, lighting and shadows. It's a total brain drain.

Vader: A photoshoot? With drums, deviled eggs and a droid? There's no denying what day this is. But you're definitely missing something. Me! Even your little "dice" says DV, so I must be included!

STB: Sir, at the risk of being disemboweled... don't be daft. Do you truly desire to be remembered playing drums, or eating deviled eggs? That could be deemed as... living dangerously.

Vader: True. After that debacle with your calendar, my reputation was damaged. I even received a T-shirt saying, "The dude with the daiquiri."

STB:

Our Michigan girls have come and left after an amazing week of visiting, shopping and eating . . . with their fill of scrumptious

New England seafood!

Our first meal at home consisted of jumbo shrimp, locally smoked salmon, and seafood salad for hors d'oeuvres, and then the famous native Stonington Sea Scallops for dinner!

Another meal at a local seafood shack brought steamers, lobster rolls, fish and chips and fried clams to our picnic table!

Our final indulgence back at home included whole lobsters and more steamers for the girls! Before they left for a pizza dinner with their aunt in the Boston area, they went to another seafood haunt in Mystic, famous for their whole bellied clams!

Of course *each* meal had its own complementary accoutrements such as native green beans, rice pilaf, coleslaw, Caesar Salad, gourmet cheese, my famous Deviled Eggs, a cold veggie platter, marinated artichoke hearts, hummus and desserts with an assortment of 5 gelato flavors topped with hot fudge sauce!

Our granddaughters have hearty mid-western appetites and I was thrilled to teach them how to disscect every inch of a lobster! LOL . . .

Happy Sliders Sunday everyone!

Bon Appétit

Nothing says the holiday season quite like my Grandma's delicious Deviled Eggs. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, actually I volunteered to take an hors d'oeuvre last night to friend's.

It may be Movie Night, but Stormtrooper Trooper has a big ask for the guys this time around. They know STB only has the best intentions so they're willing to put up with most anything. Especially when food is involved!

TK-432: Dude! This is the third cake tonight! Not that I'm complaining, but are you planning to do this all evening long?

TK-1110: Explain again why we have to be blindfolded? You're not planning to sneak us one of your Kitty Litter Cakes, are you?

STB: Guys, it's not my fault the P just announced the Spring Bake Off is being held next week. I just need to get your honest opinions on a "few" cakes I've whipped up this week.

TK-432: So, in other words, we'll be doing this all night long? Snack intermissions every couple of hours? I'm good with that.

TK-1110: That P and his last-minute announcements! Who does he think he is? Oh, yeah, he's the Emperor who shoots lightening out of his fingers. Can't wait to see what's in store for us this Spring Fling!

STB: Rumor has it the Photo Booth with the Easter Bunny is back, and photos are mandatory.

TK-432: I'm uneasy with these blindfolds, too. All your cakes are good. You always ask us to sample them. and then after eating a dozen different cakes you decide on a completely different one anyway. Not that I'm complaining.

STB: That's why I love you guys. You help me narrow it down. Now, stop talking and start sampling, we've got a long night ahead of us. And no peeking!

It’s been a while since Stormtrooper Bruce and the guys have have a nice, relaxing, non-eventful Movie Night, so he wanted to make this one a little extra special.

TK-432: Well, thank the P! The weekend is finally upon us!

TK-1110: Finally! I thought it’d never get here!

STB: Funny how some weeks seem longer than others. And these last few have some of the longest ever! But let’s just try to relax and forget everything for a few hours!

TK-432: No complaints from me. There’s more than enough food, friendship and funny films to keep us occupied for a while.

TK-1110: And even better, no freaky fish in that fish tank in the corner. What happened?

STB: That freaky fish grew too big for the tank, so when I reported it to the P, he and his nephew Confetti came to retrieve it. It was so weird, they were simply giddy with excitement.

TK-432: So, um, not to be nosy, but why they’d leave the tank?

STB: Simple. I asked if I could have it.

TK-1110: Uh oh, I hear that smirk in your voice. Am I sensing another prank in a certain bounty hunter’s future?

STB: Ask me no questions and I’ll tell no lies. But let’s not worry about the future. Let’s just sit back and enjoy tonight.

TK-432: And these chocolate bunnies. I’m gonna eat all of mine now!

When Palpatine announced security upgrades, Stormtrooper Bruce had no idea that meant he'd have to vacate his quarters when they got to his deck. Of course he was invited to use the Officer's Deck during this time. But that simply was out of the question.

TK-432: Dude, I've often wondered why you liked to stay in this rusted out cargo hold, but after spending these past few hours here, I'm starting to see the appeal.

Fett: Well, bro, don't get too comfortable. This is only temporary. And I'm still not 100% sure this isn't some kind of prank you're all pulling on me.

STB: Oh, ye of little faith. Just read the paper here - top headlines. This is for real. I may be good, but not that good.

TK-1110: It's kinda fun being here. It's like a Movie Night on holiday. Except for the dust.

Fett: Holiday smoliday - like I said before, don't get too comfortable.

STB: Dude, don't be such a Jabba! What's got your bounty hunter boxers in a wad?

Fett: I think you mean "who" and it's your precious P, that's who. It's time to renew my contract and he's trying to get me to take up quarters on the Officer's Deck, of all places.

TK-1110: You're joking! Hope you said no. Sounds like a trap. If you ask me, he's up to something.

Fett: A little porg told me he wants to renovate this so his sister and her family can move in. Seems they're not planning on leaving the ship anytime soon, and the P can't take it much longer - needs them to move off the Officer's Deck.

STB: Can't believe I'm about to say what I'm about to say - but - I can totally sympathize with him. That nephew is a great kid but after watching him this summer I realized I can't take it much longer either.

Fett: Well, your P is definitely up to something. When I stood my ground and refused to give up my quarters, I think he used a Sith version of a Jedi mind trick on me because before I knew it, I'd agreed to start taking his Little Darling on some of my simpler missions, for training purposes. He wants his nephew to be "well rounded" and see "how the other half lives." Whatever that means.

TK-432: Oh, that can't be good. You? Babysitting? The universe might explode.

Fett: I'm sure it will. So until then, I'll just sit back, enjoy these eggs, pass some gas, and then fall asleep. You three just pretend I'm not here and enjoy your Movie Night. But don't get too comfortable, this is only temporary. And NO touching my bear rug!

It's Food For Thought Week! And you know what I'm thinking? I'm hungry. All the time.

Deviled Eggs: Just in case you were getting the impression I only photograph foods I want to eat...you're entirely correct. But deviled eggs?...not a big fan. However, due to my dedication to my craft, I stuck my nose & lens in close for some swirly egg-keh.

Bigger is Egg-cellent

NOTE: Sorry I've been a rotten-egg friend this week...with the move to San Fran in just 5 weeks, I've been going in 15 different directions every day. I promise I'll get caught up. :)
