When I first moved to Yantai 12 months ago in July 2006 this land was home to hundreds of families it had a strong community feel that cannot be replicated - it had nong tangs, (alley's) small stores and street vendors. This was razed to the ground to make way for a pure commercial "development". Across chinas many provinces people are being forcibly evicted from their homes to make way for so called "development" , usually the land is taken by the local authorities in a land speculation scam and then sold on to "developers" .

Ms. Amy Dietterich, Director, Global Challenges Division, Global Challenges and Partnerships Sector, WIPO, Geneva, moderates the "Trade Secrets in Action: Development and Dissemination of Medical Technologies" at the WIPO Symposium on Trade Secrets and Innovation.
Taking place at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva and virtually from May 23-24, 2022, the Symposium explored the role of trade secrets and innovation from policy, legal and business perspectives.
It also took a closer look at how patent systems, trade secret systems and others are intertwined in knowledge creation and dissemination in the wider context of the intellectual property (IP) system. Discussions on topical issues addressed how digital information is increasingly driving the international innovation ecosystem – and the role of trade secrets in the development and dissemination of medical technologies.

Trying out a roll of film I found in a bulk loader that was being thrown out at work. A label on the loader said FP4 so I exposed it at 125ASA and developed it in HC110 for 9 minutes, but it turned out to be Plus-X, so it is a bit over-developed. Still, there's about 50' left to go at.

Over the course of several days, I made little changes but the core concept of a Star Wars STAP style speeder stayed in place.
The ground breaking ceremony for Beloit's Gateway Development was on a foggy, rainy Thursday morning 18 years ago today, on August 22, 2001. The sun came out and shined just in time for everyone to "play in the dirt."
It is hard to imagine where Beloit would be today without this singular achievement early in Jane Wood's tenure as City Manager. There was no shortage of doubters about this project and no assurances the gamble would payoff. Myself and many others thought it was a classic no-brainer that had been delayed far too long. Only three weeks later the great tragedy of 911 happened and everything changed forever, but Beloit didn't stop building a better future.
That future is now. Thanks to everyone in these photos and behind the scenes seen in these photos. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
I had started showing up at events like this earlier in the year with my 1 megapixel digital camera. You will see a lot of "old timers" in here as well as come notable now-timers. Steve Gregg, Ken Hendricks, Paul Ryan, Judy Robson, Daniel Schooff, Vern Marx, Bill Watson, Charlie Tubbs, Jane wood, and [I better stop less I forget more names]. That's Gateway Boulevard storm sewer being installed in background. The "hill" behind the shovel ceremony became the home of Kettle Foods. The site of the ceremony is near the entrance gate to the Staples warehouse on Colley Road now.
