"Cardiff Council, in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government, will be implementing street improvements to Clifton Street starting on Sunday 12th October 2008 for a period of approximately eight months.
The improvements include a range of measures to create a more attractive and pedestrian-friendly shopping centre, including the introduction of a one way system in a north to south direction, two sided 'limited waiting' street parking, disabled parking bays, new street lighting, traffic calming measures, a controlled pedestrian crossing, replacement street furniture and the installation of three CCTV cameras. "

Dan Lazenby is a cardiff artist whose work you’ll have seen on a few album covers by splendid welsh acts such as Sweet Baboo and The Gentle Good. He’ll be showing some of his work for just one week at Kooki Two Bit, a new clothes shop in Clifton Street, Splott. Clifton Street seems to be the new hip place in Cardiff - check the AMAZING ‘Canteen’ restaurant which has recently opened there. Without doubt the greatest sticky toffee pudding I have ever eaten."

What does ‘Earth’ mean to you?
The Western Australian Youth Theatre Company (WAYTCo), Yirra Yaakin Theatre and Filmbites youth film school join forces on April 3rd and 10th in a creative engagement with young people who like collaborative theatre techniques, scriptwriting and film to explore the meaning of the word ‘EARTH’. This single word, with it’s multitude of meanings, is the starting point in two three-hour sessions of creative interactions using performing arts techniques. This creative collaboration will inform WAYTCo’s production “Earth” late in 2011. These sessions are free to attend.

It can be difficult to keep up with a large project especially when it gets to the steel erection phase which can proceed quickly. There are inevitable hiatuses in ones opportunities to take photographs but I was fortunate today to be able to catch up with construction of CEMAST before it progresses further. I can not undertake to capture every significant stage but this set will continue to record development to completion. On September 2, 2014 the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) hosted Congressman John K. Delaney and the Honorable Thomas E. Perez, United States Secretary of Labor, for a forum on the topic of workforce development entitled, “Preparing Today for Tomorrow’s Success.” In addition to Congressman Delaney and Secretary Perez, panelists included: Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard, President of Montgomery College; Mr. Diego Uriburu, Executive Director of Identity Inc.; and Mr. Patrick J. Caulfield, co-owner of Coakley & Williams Construction Inc. The panel discussion was moderated by USG’s Executive Director, Dr. Stewart Edelstein.

At the Community Activity Center on Camp Casey May 29, civilians and Soldiers of the U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I attend a professional development session geared especially to those in leadership positions. The audience of 145 leaders heard briefings on a range of topics that included customer service, mentoring subordinates, administrative and maintenance matters, and leadership itself. Speakers included Col. John M. Scott, Commander, USAG Red Cloud and Area I, and other garrison officials. The afternoon was capped by an indoor supper of hot dogs and hamburgers.

INTERNATIONAL INTER DISCIPLINARY ENGINEERING SEMINAR

An International Inter Disciplinary Engineering Seminar was held in the double storied auditorium of Hajvery University (HU) Lahore. Dr. Abdul Aleem Khan Chairman Institute of Engineers Jeddah KSA (Electrical Engineering Discipline), Dr. Javed Yonas Uppal Chairman Institute of Engineering Pakistan Lahore Center (Civil Engineering Discipline), Mrs Fareeda Javed Local Advisor Pakistan Engineering Council (Mechanical Engineering Discipline) spoke on the subject “Design and Development” which was introduced by the Dean of Faculty of Engineering (HU) Dr. Naeem Akhtar Khan Afridi.
The auditorium was packed with engineering students of Hajvery University. The distinguished speakers rolled the pearls of wisdom based on their knowledge and disciplines of engineering. Key note speaker Dr. Abdul Aleem Khan Chairman IEP Jeddah KSA revealed that Pakistani Engineers are leading in building the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as expressed by Saudi Arabia Minister for communication and works. He as engineering manager of Bin Ladin Group of KSA explained the projects successfully completed. He revealed that IEP / Engineers Welfare Fund KSA has helped in employment of 3000 engineers and technicians from Pakistan in different companies of Saudi Arabia other than 300 scholarships to different public sector engineering universities to the brilliant and hardworking students on recommendations of respective Deans. He concluded his address with an open invitation for helping Hajverian Engineers on recommendation of their Dean for employment in Saudi Arabian multinational firms.
The question answer session was extremely thought provoking, brain storming and informative. Distinguished speakers emphasized that as engineers they should be job creators nor job seekers. They suggested different projects and ways and means for small medium entrepreneurship that any engineer can start and create job for himself and couple of others. Mrs. Fareeda Javed admired the infrastructure and training facilities of Hajvery University. She said HU has been genuinely granted accreditation of intake of two years and in future also HU will be accreditated due to the standard and speed with which engineering faculty in HU is progressing.
In the demonstration phase of the seminar, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Dr. Naeem screened five video films of failed and successful projects. These films were hailed with big applause by all the participants.
In the end HU shields were presented by Gen Muhammad Latif Director Administration of Hajvery University to the distinguished speakers of all the three disciplines. The function ended with a sumptuous lunch in the honor of international. dignitaries engineering.
