Turns out I have bugger all lime green pieces. This uses pretty much all of the small green and purple pieces I have. Pity Devy wasn't made in gray, I have stacks of those bits ;)

Devastation in Black and White, while my friends and I were in Jasper National Park last week week we went to one of my friends favorite spot, the drive to the lake was beautiful, snow covered trees along open streams then we turned a bend in road and were devastated. We had all forgotten about the forest fire in the area last summer. This was the sight that was in front of us on all sides. I immediately thought of this weeks B&W challenge so my post for Week 5
Cinnabar Moth caterpillars feeding on their host plant ragwort! The caterpillars are voracious feeders and will devastate their host plants. Known to be cannibalistic they can then begin eating each other!
The Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae) was originally named after the bright red mineral ‘cinnabar’ once used by artists as a red pigment for painting.
The caterpillars feed on poisonous ragwort leaves from July – early September and are initially pale yellow but soon develop bright yellow and black stripes to deter predators. The poison from the leaves is stored in the caterpillars body (and even remains when they are an adult moth). Any predators that ignore the caterpillars bright warning colours will be repulsed by how foul they taste.
The caterpillars overwinter as pupa in a cocoon under the ground. The adult moths emerge around mid May and are on the wing up until early August, during which time males and females will mate and eggs are laid.
The Cinnabar Moth is a common species, well distributed throughout the UK and has a coastal distribution in the northern most counties of England and Scotland. Due to its toxicity to livestock ragwort is being controlled in many areas across the UK and Cinnabar Moth numbers have dropped dramatically due to the persecution of their food plant ragwort.
My entry to the BWTB World War III challenge.
I'm pretty happy of how this turned out, with some small exceptions on the sides of the treads. My favorite part to make was the railgun and frontal armor using the torso armor from the jaller mahri set.

This is the result of 80mph winds last year. Taken while walking through Timble Ings Woods in the Washburn Valley, part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Near Otley.

The Devastator G-290 is capable of holding its own on the battlefield. Armed with a heavy minigun on its left arm, and missile's on its right, it is a force to be reckoned with.
And feared.
You can check it out on MOC Pages as well. Devastator G-290

So i just received my army men sets from TLC and i realized its St Patrick's tomorrow... so i built green :D
Here is a Devastator tank (named after the Dune Harkonen tank) Altho this is more based on the C&C Mammoth tank design-wise. Its built Mostly with parts from 2 Toy story army men sets.

That's why abandoned places must keep secret. Here the fireplace is too heavy to be moved and the mirror probably too difficult to be removed (but someone tried!)....

My first photo after the scourge of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico taught me that no matter the devastation, life continues.

There was a pretty limited forest fire in the Paradiset nature reserve in 2020 so in 2021, I was there, looking for species who are drawn to fire-damaged areas.
The main kind of trees there are pines, which protect themselves from fire by having a bark which char - but don't burn very well, resulting in the tree surviving.
This however made for a quite cool-looking landscape with basically all trees being charcoal black.
I did find some coool bugs there though, like this early instar goat moth caterpillar (Cossus cossus) in hot pink.
Notice I said early instar and the caterpillar is as you can see compared to my fingertip still fairly large. That's because it grows extremely large and is very spectacular in it's reddish pink colour (though not as pink as this one).
The caterpillar live, eat and grow in size inside trees and as an old Swedish name for the species, "trädödare" (meaning "tree devastator") indicates, it dmages the tree.

shortly after the invasion of Earth in 2356 SC-77 was tasked to build machines to counter the aliens war machines. the Devastator was the first Mechanized Battle Armor to be produced, it is more heavily armored, defensively as well as offensively, as a result it is slower and less versatile. however this is entirely made up with its massive firepower and high density armor which has kept it in one piece so far.
Mass: 125 ton
Height: 52 Feet
Speed: 30Mph
the main weapon is a short barrel 850mm artillery piece, which has been mounted directly into the torso to minimize the recoil from its massive firepower, which has been known to disable Alien walkers In a single shot
The left arm houses a custom built mark-3 Chain gun, the 50mm ammo is easily capable of penetrating the armor of alien machines and can sustain a fire rate of 6000 RPM
the right arm has a repurposed Naval gun, mounted with four 70mm barrels to increase the fire-rate, the cannons can fire many different ammo types but is generally loaded with HE rounds
there are a variety of smaller guns mounted to the torso, these are mainly used for groups of smaller targets
it is also equipped with dual missile launchers for a total complement of 44 seeker missiles and 6 heavy rockets which is the favorite means of destruction by most pilots
the dual heli-blade arms are used to move it over barriers it is incapable of climbing, they can lift the LDM to a height of 10 stories although, it has been known to be pushed higher
NOTES:
This is the Devastator's forth complete overhaul, I removed all the recognizable armor chunks, arms and weapons and dismantled everything else. then I rebuilt the legs using a design I had worked up awhile back, modified it to work with the old waist, then I rebuilt the torso using a new waist rotator to eliminate the previous' versions ability to rotate forward and back, then I attached the cannon I had designed to replace the shotgun.
the heli blades had to be attached to a swing arm to allow the cockpit to open
I designed a completely new gun for the right arm
finally I plated the legs and widened the feet
Studio Series Devastator! This is a great Devastator figure and definitely has shelf presence. It only took 40 years to get this Devastator 😅

I walked along the Motueka Sandspit a few days after the storm that hit Marahau in March 2018, and was shocked to see these consequences. The heavy rain swept great masses of logging slash down the river into the sea, and much ended up on the spit.
Motueka sandspit is a special environment for our bird life. Bar-tailed Godwits struggled to find somewhere to roost amidst the slash. They need to be able roost even when there is a very high tide, and this is the only area in the Waimea estuary large enough for the birds to fly into. I felt devastated to witness the impact of the storm on the birds. I feel despair that precious biodiversity is being threatened with extinction due to human activities.
