Once again we were headed South on Interstate 5 coming from Reno, NV. The drive is long and boring, so I was looking for something interesting to shoot. As you can see, there is not much out there.
The odd colors of the salt ponds and the gray sky made this scenery look like an HDR to the naked eye...

Sketches from Basic Drawing with Oksana Ross. Currently I still need something to model my drawings on but this was one I drew free-form. It didn't start out with the intention of seeming so dead but in the end that's what it seems to me. Maybe it's just hibernating.
The ruined and abandoned old hospital in Worcester is a pretty desolate place but new life still finds a way!

This garage is near the bottom of the Nevis mountain range in Glencoe, Scotland. This little town only exists because of the slate mining industry from the 19th century. These folks had no central heating, no thermals, and no chunky Heinz beef stock soup to keep them warm. This was a mild day but even then the cold breeze snapping against your ears and nose really kept you awake. I saw this garage and the first thing I thought of was what it must be like working in there during the winter. Still on a day like the day I took this shot it sure beats the local Kwik-fit down Bletchley.

Anything but desolate, unless your a farmer and want to grow corn, maybe. Who named this place anyway?
Photo taken while on a day hike in the Desolation Wilderness near Lake Tahoe. This was part of a family vacation to Lake Tahoe, except that nobody else in my family is very outdoorsy or even athletic for that matter - so I went it alone!
After Salt Creek we drove to the trail head for Desolation Canyon, refilled our water bottles, and went for a second hike. Nancy got a little ahead of me. Roll your mouse over the image and see the tiny box outlining her in the distance.
