Between Glen Alpine Spring and Gilmore Lake

Tonlé Sap, Cambodia

Some call it "Quiet after the storm", and some call it "Calm after the storm". In a place like this, a little rain causes much trouble... How much more a storm?!

So what do you call it? Desolation... Misery... Or vendetta in a nice way!?!

This is a screen capture from a time-lapse video I made of a hike to Boiling Lake in the country of Dominica.

One of my sculptures in the show IT"S PAINTING SO IT MUST BE GERMAN at Silvershot, Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

made of papier mache, wood, wire, more paper, fabric and threads, etc.

tThis one has panels made of stitched acetate, so you can see light right through the box.

My friend and I were driving around looking for places to shoot, and I spotted this truck on some mans property. It was far enough from the house where he didn't see us lurking on his field, but I found it interesting. The truck was parked in an odd position, and placed completely random in the yard.

After Salt Creek we drove to the trail head for Desolation Canyon, refilled our water bottles, and went for a second hike. Nancy got a little ahead of me. Roll your mouse over the image and see the tiny box outlining her in the distance.

170423 heads south near Dalnaspidal with a train from Inverness. Despite how bleak it looks, the A9 dual-carriageway is just out of sight to the left.

This is the old Fresno schoolhouse in Hill County Montana. The town of Fresno is gone now but the school remains alone on the prairie. There is no way to describe the flat, desolate beauty that is the hi-line.

I traveled up to the hi-line to take these photos for a historical website:

www.kremlin-montana-history.com/

It is a wonderful website made for the centennial of Kremlin, Montana. It has great information and history on the town.

The remnants of a tree lies encrusted with salt. If you sat here long enough this could happen to you, too! ;)

24 March, 2007

Campogalliano (MO)

« Oh desolate tree,

Reaching out with your

Claw-like branches,

Empty and barren.

Waiting for summer to

Cloak you with shimmering beauty

And golden colours of nature.

So sad and dull, yet

Reaching out in desperation.

Cold and lifeless,

Tormenting my thoughts

With your solitude. ...»

Fragment from SPRINGTIME FOR TREES

(Coptright Luna Woodhouse (31.03.01))

At the foot of Sólheimajökull glacier was this wasteland of volcanic ashfall. The fog added a little something to the scene, I think.
