Soberanes Big Sur fire erupting in huge billows. Evacuation imminent. It's moving southward. This will be the biggest fire in Big Sur history. Driving through this in a red smokey haze. Then closed on Monday night.

Dam (Gossan & Copper) Rio Tinto Mines ..

Presa (Gossan&Cobre) Minas de Riotinto...

Driving from Stuðlagil Canyon to northern Iceland, close to Hverfjall over the ring road will give some dramatic landscapes. For this photo I had to use lightroom and photoshop in order to clean up the debris and dust from the camera sensor. When I came back home and cleaned the sensor, I found it was speckled with black dust, likely some volcanic ashes :)

you know who you are and you know what you want"

Lao Tzu

PARAISO

Broken bottles and charred pieces of glass,

Wadded up newspapers tossed on the grass,

Pouring of concrete and tearing out trees.

This is the environment that surrounds me?

Poisons and insecticides sprayed on our food,

Oceans filling with thick oil crude.

All sea life destined to a slow, awful doom.

These are the things we are to consume?

Mills pumping out iron, expelling yellow fumes,

Airlines emitting caustic gases from fuels,

Weapons of destruction tested at desolate sites.

And this is the air that's to sustain life?

There has to be something that someone can do,

Like raise the awareness to those around you

That if we don't heed the problem at hand

It's your life that's at stake, the destruction of man.

Point Wilson Lighthouse is in Fort Worden State Park, near Port Townsend in Washington State.

I am posting this image for my friend, Rich, who's been "urging" me to post it for almost a month now. Finally he posted his version of it from his recent visit to the lighthouse as a nudge, so I can't hold out any longer :) See Rich's version of the lighthouse here: www.flickr.com/photos/116895768@N03/29731015573/in/datepo.... And while you're at it, take a look at his photostream. He's an awesome photographer!

Thanks for viewing!

A Ruined House

Those Who Lived Here Are Gone

Or Dead Or Desolate With Grief;

Of All Their Life Here

Nothing Remains

Except Their Trampled, Dirtied Clothes

Among The Dusty Bricks,

Their Marriage Bed, Rusty And Bent,

Thrown Down Aside As Useless;

And A Broken Toy Left By Their Child...

Douglas County-Washington State

Shot with the Olympus E-M1 on the streets of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Fagradallsfjall started erupting on the 19th March 2021 and is ongoing to this day although the scene is now very different from March and from when this image was taken in June. At all times however it has been a scene of utter desolation although a beautiful one. It is an amazing place to visit if you are in Iceland and surprisingly easy to reach with just an half hour or so drive from Reykjavik airport followed by a 1 - 2 hour walk.

..."A footprint haunts an empty floor

A fading coat that I once wore

Oh, A desolation where I once lived

I have seen in times gone by

I have felt a different shadow on the wall

A stranglehold on a certain feeling

Reap the wild wind"...

Hverfjall crater near Myvatn lake in the north of Iceland.

This volcano is formed in the second volcanic cycle in this region. It began 2500 years ago with a gigantic but brief eruption, which formed the explosion crater (tephra ring).

The breakwater trail to Ame's Point that separates Lake Winnebago from Millers Bay is uncrowded today with cold winds and blowing snow.

Notice the ice heaves on the left.

Micah 7:13 “The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds.”

After the construction of the world famous "Afsluitdijk" the North Sea was definitively separated from the very dangerous "Zuiderzee", creating the "IJsselmeer".

As a result fishing disappeared , and many thousands of peoples became unemployed.

The buidlings of this industry also fell out of use and became in disrepair, such as the former fish auction in Laaxum (Friesland)

Tradition is every Christmas eve me and my family must go for a walk by the sea.....whether the weather is inclement or not! So me,' H' and the eldest and his gf went off for our customary blast of fresh air - lasted about 20 minutes and eneded up in a pub to get our warmth back!
