This building takes its shape from its paired auditoriums lifted off of sculpted pillars. It may have been inspired by Konstantin Melnikov's Rusakov Worker's Club (Moscow, 1927-28). Markings from wooden formwork are clearly visible along the building's exposed concrete surfaces.
Begrisch Hall was built as part of NYU's University Heights Campus. During New York's fiscal crisis of the 1970s, NYU sold the campus - it is now owned by Bronx Community College.

I really enjoy the challenge of making things as fast and efficiently as I can on quick projects such as this. I've learned I do better under pressure. Our new letterpress shop needed all of the stools in the shop labeled, as people kept using the stools near the press and apparently that's extremely dangerous.
Yeah, it's not that cool, and yeah it could've benefited from more time, but I bet you one hundred bucks that with 30 minutes 99 out of 100 people would make something a lot more boring than this.
I'm really just trying to justify a shitty design. But the copywriting, I mean, cmon…
