Arriving from the altiplano in La Paz, one suddenly discovers, at the foot of the majestic Andean peaks whose snow-covered peaks rise to over 6000 meters, the enormous basin sheltering this teeming metropolis of more than one and a half million souls. An Indian city, La Paz is today indisputably the capital of the country: seat of government, assemblies, church and cultural life.

Inverloch beach, seen from the Screw Creek walking trail. Not exactly crowded. View large for a bit more detail.

An old and (I hope) no longer used boat ramp at Campbells Cove, southwest of Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay.

I've always envied minimalistic water shots with water smooth as ice and only a few elements in the shot, so this is my attempt at something similar.

The grey wagtail is a common bird of fast-flowing rivers and can be found in high densities in the hills of England, Scotland and Wales. In winter, they move to lowland areas and can be spotted in farmyards and even in towns. Grey wagtails eat ants and midges that they find beside rivers, and snails and tadpoles they find in shallow water. They nest near the water in hollows and crevices lined with moss and twigs

I didn't have any fishing gear with me this morning, just my camera. Luckily the lady was nice enough to give me a wristband for 15 minutes, otherwise it's 22$ to enter.

Thanks again for giving me that 15 minutes!! Trust me I'll be back to do some fishing!

Sunlit sentinels - A superbly still and calm summer's day dawns on Buttermere producing near mirror perfect reflections of the sunlit sentinels overlooked by Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks.

This iconic row of scots pines situated at the southern end of the lake, come alive when first lit by the early morning light in summer. The verdant greens of the pines at this time of year, in stark contrast to the backdrop of the deep shadow of Fleetwith Pike cast along Warnscale Bottom, makes for added drama and beauty of this classic Lakeland scene.

Buttermere is often described as the most beautiful and photogenic of all the Lake District's lakes - it's hard to argue with that when witnessing scenes like this.

Reflecting the glen - An amazing light play on the impressive Aonach Eagach ridge and the view up the glen reflected in the super still waters of Loch Achtriochtan. Looking up from Glencoe, Aonach Eagach dominates the scene up the glen, its hard not to be transfixed by this view when conditions are like this.

One can not embrace the 'New Topographics' movement of the 1970's with their human altered landscapes without giving attention to the man who introduced the poetic beauty of nature through his impeccably rendered images.

I have always looked for that one scene which would offer the chance to grasp the range of tonality which Ansel Adams was famous for.

His one image I am particularly enamored by because of how it runs the range of zone densities is "Silverton Colorado 1951".

I also like the way he manages the perspective or lack thereof in the scene.

There at the side of the road I finally found that zone rich location I was searching for.

It is apparent after seeing my previous recent monochrome images that though they have fair black and white harmonics in comparison this analog photo and it's nuances and lighting is my little treasure.

The sun has just risen, casting its light behind the towering high-rise building.

I used the ND400 Neutral Density filter to extend the exposure, aiming to capture the sun's shape in the photo.
