There is a strong sense of contrast with the wide range of tones and rings/lines in the stacked wood. The setting sun highlights the nooks and crannies of the dry wood.

I haggled with Sony for days to get the adaptor for this thing, but they discontinued it and had to buy it from third party. I'm really glad I did, because it makes a huge difference in many lighting situations.

Surface Defect Density Lab

AIM:

To calculate the surface defect density of epitaxially grown GaAs based samples. Next to create a defect-density map with the data. Also, the different kinds of defects seen were individually characterized.

PROCEDURE:

1. The Nomarski microscope was connected to the computer.

2. After connecting the digital camera to the microscope, the glass slides were cleaned with Isopropanol Alcohol. The microscope was turned on at the external power supply.

3. The G12-172 sample was then centered under the microscope on the stage.

4. Then, the microscope was focused on the face of the sample at 10x.

5. Using a provided map, each point on the sample was put into view and an image was captured.

6. After all of the points were finished, all of the images of the sample were saved.

7. The defects were counted and recorded according to the points they were taken from on the sample.

8. The average of the number of the defects was taken and recorded.

9. Using Origin 8.5.1, the defects were graphed on a contour plot.

Heading back to the city on Sunday afternoon was a warm trip, but the sight in the skies was phenominal! The clouds wer gathering quite immensely, and put on a great display.
