Some facts-
1. The blackbird is the most numerous breeding bird in the British Isles, with a population of around 6 million pairs.
2. The highest breeding densities are to be found in small urban parks and residential areas.
3. The only European country with no breeding blackbirds is Iceland; small numbers do occur there in the winter.

More birds are moving south from the north country now as September nears. This cute little yellow-bellied flycatcher likely nested in northern Minnesota where it is considered an uncommon summer resident. That said, northern Minnesota has one of the highest population densities of yellow-bellied flycatchers in North America during the summer season. This bird will winter somewhere in Central America.

Matteo Piergigli and the density of void
Forecast looked good so we decided to try Steetley. On the way the weather app changed and the forecast didn't look so great.
After a fair amount of deliberating if we should try Flamborough or Scarborough we finally decided to stick with the original plan.
What a fantastic place. It will be a sad loss to this coastline once it's gone. The cemetery above the beach has to be the creepiest graveyard I've ever seen!

The Hooded Merganser is the smallest of the three merganser species and is the only one that occurs solely in North America. The Hooded Merganser breeds mostly in eastern Canada, with the highest densities in the Great Lakes Region of southern Ontario, and in Quebec.
