From www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM7ZRH_Lion_Gates_University_...: "These lions guard the Gates of Opportunity to University Heights on Delmar at Trinity in University City.
These lions were commissioned by E.G. Lewis the founder of University City in 1909. The sculptor was George Julian Zolnay and the original lions were constructed of concrete and each weighed 8 tons. The lions originally stood atop 40-foot pylons of limestone designed by Thomas Young of Eames and Young Architects. Over the years the pylons became unstable and began to lean. In 1991 the pylons were reduced to 14 feet and the concrete lions were replaced with lighter fiberglass ones. The original lions are in the collection of the Missouri Historical Society."
On the subject of my Nikon F3 being cursed, yesterday I failed to load a roll of film properly and didn't notice until I'd already "taken" about 26 pictures.
Loaded it correctly today and took some photos down on the loop. Ran into my friends Sarah and Calypso. Took pictures of them, but haven't gotten that film back yet.

On Sunday, local artists helped out by covering the boarded-up windows with some beauty. Quite heartening. #delmarloop #universitycity #stlouis #missouri #heartening
