One of the amazing surprises to me when I was exploring St. Louis on my travels on Route 66 was the number of theatres that St. Louis has created and preserved. This is one of the newer venues, The Pageant, created and opened in 2000 to evoke memories of an old movie marquee and theatre that was just three blocks down from the Pageant's current location on the Delmar Loop. I was heartened to see how busy it was on a weekend night with folks lined up for live music.
When walking my dog tonight, this fire hydrant was wide open and flooding the street and such. I think there were workers trying to fix something down the street.

Promoting the return of a trolley line through the Loop neighborhood
A few years ago the "Delmar Loop" (so named because of its proximity to the streetcar turn-around) was a dangerous pocket of urban decay. This stretch of Delmar Blvd. in St. Louis and adjoining University City is now alive and prosperous.
Lots of people have left tributes on and around Chuck Berry's statue in the Loop since his death. In addition to the beads, there was also a big pile of stuffed animals and some booze.

Saturday evening's peaceful protests in the Loop neighborhood of St. Louis gave way to unlawful agitators who caused damage to the glass fronts of many of the businesses. On Sunday, local artists helped out by covering the boarded-up windows with some beauty. Quite heartening. #delmarloop #universitycity #stlouis #missouri #heartening
