A 2.2-mile electric-hybrid trolley line is scheduled to be completed in fall 2012, running from the western end of the Delmar Loop to the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park (via DeBaliviere). For ADA-accessibility reasons, replica streetcars will be used rather than this heritage Peter Witt vehicle.
4/4/12 UPDATE: See here for the latest on the Loop Trolley Project, including the latest plan to use the heritage streetcars for financial reasons: www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/loop-trolley-will-resem...
Hung out with Sam on Monday. We did some photography out in the rain and she splashed in the puddles and we went to dinner at Blueberry Hill and then we watched a movie together and it was really nice.
I've made a conscious decision for my health and fitness to not go out to eat the entire month of May. Then I've systematically failed in that resolution almost every day in May so far. Still, the pulled pork I got from Salt + Smoke after this picture was delicious, even if it did make me so full that I wanted to kill myself.
Went down to the loop to take some pictures and eat some BBQ and discovered the Loop Trolley is actually running. This shot of it is kinda blurry because I'm not nearly as good with the D700 as I am with my 5D3.

Things that have made me get all emotional and teary-eyed today which is totally not in keeping with my preferred image as a Big Manly Man What Is Manly And Masculine:
1. A couple of comic artists who I follow on twitter (Cohen Edenfield and Kate Leth) got engaged.
2. Robert Frank died. He was a pretty famous photographer, best known for his book "The Americans". I was simultaneously surprised to learn he'd still been alive and saddened to learn he wasn't anymore. I decided to go shoot some black and white street photography in the loop in his memory.
3. In the Apple presentation today where they announced the new Apple Watch, iPad, and iPhones, they had a bit where they talked about people whose lives were saved by their Apple Watches.
Saturday night was an interesting night.
These were inspired by a trip to Alton IL, one of the most haunted cities around.
Had an absolutely delightful morning sleeping in on Saturday.
I had been planning to go to this big event at the Bad Dog, but I just really wasn't feeling it. Instead I went and hung out on the loop for a while--got froyo and macaroni and cheese, took some pictures, then went home and relaxed. Had an uncomfortable text conversation, but other than that it was a lovely day.
I don't think this is a Futon store anymore, yet the sign remains. Most of it, anyway, There's a few chips taken out of it. Took a little walk around the Delmar Loop and caught some fresh Pokémon and took this picture.
In further news, I loaned a friend one of my Pentax film SLRs because I am an AMAZING FRIEND.
Cold and rainy and bleak and cold and disgusting and rainy and bleak and dark and cold and rainy and I got froyo. Don't judge me.
Joe "The Juggler" Welling plays the harmonica without hands, juggles knives while standing on a board balanced on a tube during the 2014 Delmar Loop Ice Carnival in University City (St. Louis), Missouri.
Joe is an amazing performer and his contact information can be found here: joethejuggler.com/index2.html.
Sailem asked me to come help film things for them again. Sofie and Eevee and I weren't needed for this particular scene, so they were practicing their dance moves and I was taking pictures of it.
I did that thing again where I brought my A7 Mark II with me to take pictures. It's just... not a good camera. I keep thinking "Oh, it's fine, I just need more experience with it", since that's usually the case when I use something other than my main camera, but with all of those cameras, I usually figure out how to get it to work the way I want. Not so with the Sony. It's just bad. It's a bad camera. It's bad and I should stop pretending like it's maybe not. Early in the evening, I took advantage of a small break to go home and grab my Canon instead and was much happier.
My photoshoot for Monday cancelled. As is my normal ritual when a photoshoot cancels, I went out for FroYo. Then I ran into Tasha, which was interesting since I hadn't seen her in a while but had been talking about her just a day earlier because I was doing a photoshoot with Kaity.
Anyway, Tasha and I both texted Kaity immediately after to tell her about the weird coincidence.
The Delmar Loop, an entertainment and restaurant district in St. Louis. This western portion of the Loop is actually located in University City, an inner suburb of St. Louis.
Early morning, went to help my friend Amanda move and almost immediately hurt my back. I decided to deviate from my normal back injury strategy (I.e., ignore the problem and keep lifting heavy things; go to the gym; pretend I am an invincible superhuman mutant with special healing powers) and headed home to spend some quality time with an ice pack.
It seemed to work. I was feeling better later that evening so went out and got some froyo on the loop. Back's still a little bit sore, but not incapacitating. It's my upper back this time, which is a nice change of pace.
