This is at the border when arriving into Nova Scotia from New Brunswick from here I had to go another 2 hours to be home. I then had to wait to get a call that my car was fixed and then drive back to Matane to pick it up.

If what I hear is true that PIERRE POILIEVRE is Canada’s Trump I will not vote for him (Conservative) or the Liberals this time. It is expected that PIERRE POILIEVRE will be the next Prime Minister and I do like the fact of a stronger military but not Trumpian ways of doing things - we are Canadian not American let Trump screw up the USA but not influence Canada we are better than them.
As far as the Liberals go - I do not mind paying a carbon tax but lower it at the pumps and don’t send me a check - even people who do not buy fuel get the check!!!!

Nowadays - the process of deleting files consists of a few keystrokes.
Sometimes, I have felt the process is too easy. Has anyone else experienced deletion regret?
I have - especially with photos. Sigh.
That's one reason good old paper copies are treasured.
Problem is that finding and retrieving paper files can be a challenge. Also, the amount of space needed for a big collection can be hard to find - especially space that is climate controlled.
Good news- used file cabinets are dirt cheap!
Well - during this period of Covid-19 virus self-quarantine, I'm clearing out old files. It's more emotionally draining than physically taxing - but nevertheless soul cleansing.
If you find yourself with unexpected down time, how are you investing it?

Dressmaker’s House was originally built on the Crysler property, the exact date of construction in the early 1800s is unknown. It is an excellent example of masonry techniques used by veterans of the British army when they worked on bridge and canal construction in the 1820s. This stone building was originally a rear addition to the large brick home, in Upper Canada Village, which is called Crysler Hall.
By the 1860s, communities were well established on the northern banks of the St. Lawrence. While most women continued to make everyday clothing for themselves and their families, there were social occasions when women wanted to look their best, and there were local dressmakers to help them. By 1871, there was one dressmaker for every 200 women in the area.

The bellows dominates the forge, providing a source of oxygen to keep the charcoal burning. The panes in the oak-framed casement windows are tanned animal hides treated with oil, to allow light inside. Most of the ironware used for the doors, windows and fireplaces was forged by the blacksmith who also made and repaired tools and manufactured trade goods. Repairs to military equipment were made by the armourer or locksmith. These men received a higher salary than the apothecary or surgeon, demonstrating how highly these trades were valued.
Awful quality, but couldn't bring myself to delete it : ) This Snowy Owl, seen way off down the road, decided to take off just when I clicked. I like my owls to be sitting still - I know most people want in-flight shots of birds, especially owls. Taken at Focal Length (35mm format) - 1200 mm, and then cropped. I love those mighty wings.
Yesterday, 14 January 2017, I drove to Fish Creek Park to meet with others to go east of the city, looking for birds. Everywhere looked so pretty down by the river when I arrived, with everything covered in frost and a thick layer of mist rising from the water.
I think there were about 8 cars in convoy, as we headed eastward, out of the city. For much of the day, birding was extremely slow, especially as we were not seeing any owls : ) As the day wore on, several cars returned to the city.
The first owl to be seen was a Great Horned Owl, perched in a row of trees alongside the road. It was so well hidden by a tangle of thin twigs and branches, making it impossible to photograph, but still a treat to see.
Eventually, we saw our first Snowy Owl at 2:30 pm, perched on a very distant fence post. A second Snowy was seen 15 to 20 minutes later, again very, very distant. Then, shortly before the trip ended, the friends in the car in which I was travelling, decided to go back to a certain area to see if we could see any Short-eared Owls. On the way there, we spotted another Snowy Owl (seen in this photo), on a power pole way, way down the road. Managed to get a quick couple of very distant shots before it flew off to hunt. I had found no Snowy Owls or Short-eared Owls the previous afternoon, when I had gone there on my own. This time, we spotted two Short-eared Owls, perched far, far away along a fence line. Useless for photos, though.
Thanks so much for driving the whole day, Carolyn - greatly appreciated by all of us! So glad you wanted to stay a bit longer than the actual trip, as we had a few lucky sightings, even if they were all very distant. A beautiful, sunny day to be out, too, and thankfully the deep-freeze had just ended.
Thanks so much, Terry, for organizing this trip! It always makes for a very enjoyable day out. Nice to see a few other birds, too, including Horned Larks and Snow Buntings.

I found this site as I got lost when trying to find another place, as lost as you can be on an island. I had to phone to tell the boat I would not be back on time for the pickup, called later and he came.
Part of a old rifle target shooting range used between the 1880s and 1920s., this equipment was used to raise and lower targets up targets, now it is sinking into water.
At the south end of McNabs Island, near Fort McNab, two 800-yard rifle ranges were constructed, one for use by sailors and the other by soldiers who regularly camped on the island.
2 years is not!

Baccaro is the oldest place name in Nova Scotia. It comes from the Basque word, Baccolaos, cod-fish. Baccaro point is the most southerly point of mainland Nova Scotia. (Cape Sable off Cape Sable Island is the furthest south.) In 1852 the materials for the first lighthouse were hauled along the beach to the site as there was no road. Today the building stands on solid rock.
In January of 1934, the Baccaro Point Lighthouse was destroyed by fire. A temporary light was exhibited from a pole until the present square, pyramidal tower was constructed later that year.
Location: East side of Barrington Bay, 3.22 kilometers (2mi) from Port Latour
Operating: This light is operational
Began and Lit: 1934
Structure Type: A white tapered square wooden tower, with a red lantern
Light: Flashing White (1992)
Tower Height: 13.7 meters (45ft)
Focal Height: 15.85 meters (52ft) above water level

The most interesting structure at Kabah is the so-called Palace of the Masks (Codz Poop), which is 46m (151 ft) long and contains ten chambers arranged in two tiers of five each; the chambers of each pair are built one directly behind the other, with a single outside doorway for each pair. The exteriors of most Maya buildings are usually devoid of sculptural decoration below the medial molding, while the rich and intricate mosaics are principally concentrated in the upper half of the façades. The Palace of the Masks, however, is different in this respect. It stands on a low platform, the face of which is decorated with a single row of mask panels; above this is a rich lower molding, surmounted by the lower half of the façade composed of three rows of mask panels running entirely across the front of the building. The medial molding of this building is perhaps the most ornate of any in Yucatan; above it, in the upper half of the façade, there are again three rows of mask panels, the top-most row being surmounted by a third and terminal molding. The effect of this lavishly sculptured façade is overwhelming, and the building itself is one of the most beautiful examples of Puuc architecture that has come down to us.
The area was inhabited by the mid 3rd century BC. Most of the architecture now visible was built between the 7th century and 11th centuries AD. A sculpted date on a doorjamb of one of the buildings gives the date 879, probably around the city's height. Another inscribed date is one of the latest carved in the Maya Classic style, in 987. Kabaah was abandoned or at least no new ceremonial architecture built for several centuries before the Spanish conquest of Yucatán.

Union Square is a 1.1 ha (2.6 acre) public plaza. "Union Square" also refers to the central shopping, hotel, and theatre district that surrounds the plaza for several blocks. The area got its name because it was once used for rallies and support for the Union Army during the American Civil War, earning its designation as a California Historical Landmark.
The Dewey Monument commemorates the victory of Admiral George Dewey and the American fleet over Spanish forces at Manila Bay, the Philippines, on May 1, 1898, during the Spanish-American War and also is a tribute to the sailors of the US Navy.
Từng phút từng giây nhớ anh
Bờ cát biển xanh in bóng ai
Khoảnh khắc ngọt ngào
Và ký ức người trao bao ngày
Tim em chưa một lần quên
Lời nói, vòng tay rất êm đềm
Ngọt đắng làm môi em nhớ thêm
Dù chỉ là mơ, là những phút dại khờ
Đợi anh đến ngẩn ngơ
Even though I’m not in your heart
Và anh thật quá xa xôi
Bao ngày nắng, bao chiều giông
Chỉ là hư không.
Even though I’m not in your heart
Cớ sao lòng cứ hi vọng
Dù nắng có phai
Dù mưa có tan
Mình em sống trong giấc mơ có anh.
Thanks all

The Thai know how to dress for the heat. This silk wrap skirt is heavy, but was quite comfortable for a 98° day.
I love finding a foreign Netflix show to binge. I was halfway through Delete while wearing this outfit. I enjoyed the concept but liked the twists and turns of the story even more! Check it out.

I am interrupting the Gaspe Trip as I went for a 13 hour drive yesterday to see some unique Lobster Trap Christmas Trees.
This lighthouse, which originally was built on a pier, now sits on a crib at the east side entrance to Shelburne Harbour. At low tide the tapered wooden tower is accessible across a sand bar. There is a sandy beach, swimming, birding, and a community hall where snacks may be available. Many festivals and activities take place here in summer, especially lobster dinners.

The Templars were a military monastic order who aided pilgrims who came from Europe to visit the holy sites. They did their work in the name of the pope.
It was the western edge of the tunnel where the main fortress of the Templar order was built.
The tunnel was a strategic underground passageway, 350 meters (1,148ft) long and it extends from the Templars fortress to the city's port.
The tunnel was discovered in 1994. The tunnel's western section was opened to the public in August 1999. Work to clear other parts of the tunnel continued and in 2007, the entire length of the tunnel was made available to the public.
