I had planned on Snowy Owls today but its raining and windy. Time to go thru and delete a lot of Great Gray shots from last winter/spring! Have to keep this one.

The nest was about 4-5 m (15 ft) to camera left, and this little goldfinch had just taken it's maiden flight. Mama took awhile to bring it some food, so it sat there and nodded off. Centre Wellington, Ontario. August17, 2022.

A 35mm slide image, originally shared almost a decade ago, that has brushed up nicely courtesy of the improved digital darkroom skills (and software packages) I've managed to pick up over the last few years.
In this shot an Eastern Region Rail Rover and an overnight train from London Kings Cross provided for a dawn arrival in Newcastle Central, where first light catches a class 03 shunter at the eastern end of the station ready for the day's action. The Keep, a must-do destination for rail snappers visiting Newcastle back then, stands imposingly in the background.
As ever, exposure was a bit finger in the air with the Zodel F Lightmeter (a 60's vintage hand-me-down from my Dad), but two or three bracketed shots for safety managed to yield a result.
I had a couple of these ERRR's over the years and they provided superb rail photography opportunities for this East Midlander who had rarely ventured further east than Grantham.
This version should go to full-screen quite well. The original has been deleted.

Full moon night. But moonrise about two hours after sunset. So just enough time to capture some stars. Guess the glow on the horizon is left over from sunset. Amazing how long it takes to completely disappear. Probably longer than two hours. Of course it would be nice to think it's the Aurora Australis. I doubt that.
Processing technique:
9x 15s ISO640 14mm F2.8 images.
1. Open as layers in PS
2. Mask out the land and copy mask to all;
3. Group into "sky" group;
4. Duplicate that group and make a "land" group;
5. Auto align the nine images in the sky group;
6. Delete all the masks in the sky group;
7. Convert to smart object;
8. Blend-mode Median;
Now do the land group: invert the masks and do same as above.
Finish by blending the two groups together.
PLEASE, no multi invitations, glitters or self promotion in your comments, they will be deleted. My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR.
Brier Island is frequently inundated by fog and has witnessed 57 recorded shipwrecks.
The first lighthouse was wooden structure, the first lighthouse on SW coast of Nova Scotia. In 1818 it was described as "so vilely constructed and ill lighted" it was a hazard. By 1832 it had been rebuilt, due inefficiency. This light was an octagonal wood tower with a metal lantern. The building was painted white, with 3 red bands. A large fog signal building also stood on the site. This tower burned in 1944 and was replaced by the current concrete tower.
Lighthouse Location: West point of island
Lighthouse Structure: Octagonal concrete tower, white & red bands
The lighthouse was built and first lit in 1944.
Tower height: 060ft feet (18.29m)
Light height: 095ft feet (29m)
Light range: 17 miles (27.36 km)
Light characteristic: Flashing White (1992).
Light automated (destaffed): 1987
Note: This is a reupload due to some sync errors in Adobe Lightroom Classic which unfortunately caused some photos that were uploaded previously to be deleted as well.
This photo was taken at the Changi Point Coastal Walk during sunset. It is a very beautiful and often overlooked place, not just for photography, but also a place to take a breather from the very fast pace of life in the city.

*MINOR SPOILER BELOW*
I was surprised how FO Snowspeeder was skipped in the movie. I saw it once for a very short time. Luckily a list of deleted scenes was discovered yesterday which gave me an opportunity to use this…weird vehicle in a scene from TFA.
Hope you like it guys, this isn't really a movie scene, just my own creation ;)
Hello Flickr friends.
It's been so long since I've been on here that I had to delete some pics before I could upload this one. I obviously need to go through my older stuff and see what I don't want to keep as I don't want to pay for a PRO account :-(
Anyway, Hi! How's everyone been? Last year was hectic, stressful, crazy busy and very non-photogenic (until the end of the year that is when I road-tripped part of the USA) but hopefully now life has settled down again I can be on here more regularly.
The Joshua Tree National Park in California is one of the coolest places I've seen since I moved to the USA. This is a snapshot SOC from my compact as I still haven't edited my DSLR pics... ;-)
Wow! First time on here in months and Explore picks it up. :-)
Thanks for all the comments and likes!
