On dit qu'le temps guérit toutes les blessures
Et celles que j'ai subies sont dignes d'une brûlure
Au dernier degré
Je sais, je rigole mais j'ai saigné
Des plans comme les tiens, tu sais ce qu'on dit

Dug out one of my fav M42 lenses for an early morning walk in the woods. More subdued light.
PLEASE: Do not post any comment graphics, they will be deleted. See info in my bio.
I had planned on Snowy Owls today but its raining and windy. Time to go thru and delete a lot of Great Gray shots from last winter/spring! Have to keep this one.
Two take-aways from this weeks challenge for me:
1) Creating an interesting image of an eraser is far from easy
2) No matter how much you clean between the keys on your keyboard it still looks like a biohazard.

And: I don't like Comment-Codes, "awards", or such groups. Because of that, Comment codes, "Awards" and invitations in such groups will be deleted. There is an Explanation at my profile.
So, if you want to say something about my photo, it will be really appreciated, no matter if it's about liking or some constructive criticism. Your own thoughts and words will mean much more to me than a universal-text.
Also please don't post pictures in the commenting-area. You could post them much better in your own photo stream. ;-D
Another negative that has been rescanned and reprocessed to produce an improved result. The original image, uploaded seven years ago, has been deleted.
The shot was taken at Hartlepool while on a week-long Eastern Region Railrover ticket, and features class 37 unit 37160 hauling a rake of COVHOPS, possibly carrying lime destined for the nearby Steetley Works from Thrislington or Coxhoe Quarry.
Above the loco can be seen the floodlights of the Victoria Ground, home of Hartlepool United FC and, to the left of that, is the dog track - now demolished and replaced by a Morrisons food store. The signal box is just visible through the girders of the barn-like structure on the right.
In the brake van the Guard has his coat hung up, and he's no doubt thinking about the imminent arrival and any tasks he needs to perform before signing off.
The station and surroundings were looking pretty uncared for by this time, hardly unusual for the period. Even so, I suspect there would still be a queue to go back and take a few more snaps, should the opportunity ever come up!

As I sort through old image files I keep finding these gems. Here's another from last year.
I'm over snow... bring on the warm weather.
I inadvertently deleted some images on Flickr I previously posted this year. I've decided to repost them over the next few days.
A Great Blue Heron takes flight along the banks of the Thames here in London Ontario and into the morning light. Thanks for viewing!
Normally when I make a mistake, I delete it. In this case clearly I didn't. I normally really, and I can't emphasize it enough dislike slow pans. Its like the best effort to use a mistake. In this case thats exactly what I've done. Opps I was too slow and got lucky. Period. To clarify there are some who really do these well on purpose...you can tell those from the mistakes and I appreciate those. This is meh.

A sister is someone who loves you from the heart,
No matter how much you argue you cannot be drawn apart.
She is a joy that cannot be taken away,
Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.

If you look closely you can see some fine wires running from the tips of the tail planes to the mid-rear fuselage on each side. These were an early form of 'friend or foe' detection; a radio signal from them helped differentiate defending RAF aircraft from others on the crude radar screens of the time.
This aircraft has a 'c' type wing, sometimes called the 'universal' wing which had provision for up to four 20mm cannon and four 0.303 Browning machine guns, although because of weight restrictions, not all could be carried at the same time without seriously degrading the aircraft performance. It is not uncommon to see two of the cannons capped off, as here. The red tape over the machine gun ports was to prevent debris from muddy airfields being blown back into the guns from the propeller while the engine was running on the ground. Wet mud could jam the guns. Of course, the first shots would go straight through the tape.
The outer machine guns were often considered to be not all that effective - the wings would vibrate when they were firing, so an ever widening cone of bullets would issue forth reducing the effectiveness on the target. The 'e' wing, which many later Spitfires sported, was a simplified 'c' wing, had the outer four machine guns bays deleted and could carry heavier machine guns and/or cannon in the four inner bays.
Full moon night. But moonrise about two hours after sunset. So just enough time to capture some stars. Guess the glow on the horizon is left over from sunset. Amazing how long it takes to completely disappear. Probably longer than two hours. Of course it would be nice to think it's the Aurora Australis. I doubt that.
Processing technique:
9x 15s ISO640 14mm F2.8 images.
1. Open as layers in PS
2. Mask out the land and copy mask to all;
3. Group into "sky" group;
4. Duplicate that group and make a "land" group;
5. Auto align the nine images in the sky group;
6. Delete all the masks in the sky group;
7. Convert to smart object;
8. Blend-mode Median;
Now do the land group: invert the masks and do same as above.
Finish by blending the two groups together.

I never tire of the great art deco mascots of the 20s and 30s. This design evolved over the years, changing details and design elements, but it appears it was originally designed first by designer Joseph E. Corker patent granted to Packard Motor Car Co. 7/12/1927, patent #73,026, exhibited on a Rollston cabriolet at the New York City Automobile show January 1926, Packard deluxe emblem known as the Packard "Goddess of Speed.
Based on Nike, the divine charioteer of Greek mythology.
In Greek mythology, Nike was a goddess who personified victory, also known as the Winged Goddess of Victory. The Roman equivalent was Victoria. Depending upon the time of various myths, she was described as the daughter of Pallas (Titan) and Styx (Water) and the sister of Kratos (Strength), Bia (Force), and Zelus (Zeal). Nike and her siblings were close companions of Zeus, the dominant deity of the Greek pantheon. According to classical (later) myth, Styx brought them to Zeus when the god was assembling allies for the Titan War against the older deities. Nike assumed the role of the divine charioteer, a role in which she often is portrayed in Classical Greek art. Nike flew around battlefields rewarding the victors with glory and fame. Nike is seen with wings in most statues and paintings. Most other winged deities in the Greek pantheon had shed their wings by Classical times. Nike is the goddess of strength, speed, and victory. Nike was a very close acquaintance of Athena, and is thought to have stood in Athena's outstretched hand in the statue of Athena located in the Parthenon. Nike is one of the most commonly portrayed figures on Greek coins. The shoe and sports equipment company Nike, Inc. is named after the Greek goddess Nike.
