Only two weeks after I upgraded my home studio with professional Elinchrom lights, the requests for shoots are starting to flow in. Joan also mailed me for a portrait session, and this picture is one of a great series we made. She had done multiple shoots before, which took out the stress and made deciding on poses and lights a bit easier.
I used classical beauty lighting on this image, with a Deep Octa softbox from above camera and a smaller Portalite softbox from beneath. A third softbox, a strip box, was lying on the floor behind her and the strobe in it lit the black background paper from the bottom up.

I like sunglasses. Dark ones especially :) Do you like the somehow tighter crop on the top and bottom of the picture?
Light: One elinchrom quadra ranger head into 70cm deep octa (only inner diffusor attached), flash on camera axis about 1,5m above camera aimed downwards.

After making portraits of quite some female models, it was nice to welcome a male model in my studio for a change. His haircut, clothing and love for working out made me look for ways to capture his friendly personality combined with his growing power. I believe this pose says it all...
Sitting in front of a black paper background, the model was lit with a Style 300 RX through a Deep Octa softbox above camera and a Ranger Quadra AS through a smaller Portalite softbox on the floor in front of him. A third strobe with a reflector fitted was used to lit the background just as much as to make it not completely black.

More or less "classic" beauty light setup:
Quadra head into 70cm deep octa (white deflector, no diffusors) from above the camera, white paper card beneath the face for fill.

Photo shoot with my adorable neice, Jessica. It's amazing what a difference a year makes. She's so much bigger than the last time we took photos of her. I didn't realize how difficult photographing moving children can be uintil trying it first hand. Profoto B1 in the 27.5" Elinchrom Deep Throat Octa held by an assistant trying to keep up :). I had to experiment a bit with the power of the light to keep everything really natural, but eventually gave up using the light meter, since everything was changing so fast.
