Dedicated to my Mum whose birthday was on 5th November - she would have been 94 this year. The only present she received when she was young was a packet of sparklers 😊 Have a lovely week everyone, will try to catch up soon!
Marvel at the perfectly carved walls of Egypt's most preserved temple at Edfu.
The temple of Edfu is the largest temple dedicated to Horus and Hathor of Dendera. It was the center of several festivals sacred to Horus. Each year, "Hathor travelled south from her temple at Denderah to visit Horus at Edfu, and this event marking their sacred marriage was the occasion of a great festival and pilgrimage."

Trawlermen Sculpture
Photo of the Trawlermen Sculpture.Artist Alan Strathern's sculpture, dedicated to the commercial fishermen who toil at sea, came out of a curious financial story.
In 1973, the Municipal Electricity Department discovered that over many years it had overcharged for power supplied to New Zealand Cement Holdings Ltd. The financial tangle was unravelled, and the upshot was that the cement company and the power authority agreed to donate $10,000 of the overpayment to the Napier City Council to fund an artwork.
Initially, the life-like bronze was a feature of the forecourt at the Hawke's Bay Aquarium which opened in December 1976 at the southern end of the Parade. It was later relocated to its present site adjoining the aquarium when it reopened as the National Aquarium Of New Zealand in 2002.
From Invercargill, Alan Strathern graduated Diploma of Fine Arts, University of Canterbury, in 1969. He was awarded the Hansells Prize for Contemporary Sculpture in 1972.

St. Peter's Church (Dutch: Pieterskerk) is a Reformed and former Roman Catholic church in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands, dedicated to Peter the Apostle. It is one of the city's oldest churches. Its construction began in 1039 and it was inaugurated on 1 May 1048.

Style and fashion could be said to be two different things. Style is about knowing who you are and what you want. Fashion is about chasing the dreams and diktats of others. Which clothes to wear this season, what accessories to pair them with, the correct way to wear them, etc. Keeping up with the latest decrees of others can be confusing and ultimately pointless and most unsatisfying/unedifying.
As long as people are free to choose then surely that's fair enough.

The abbey church, dedicated to the Nativity of Mary (Maria Geburt), was consecrated in 1136 and remodeled in the Baroque style in the seventeenth century. The impressive monastery complex was mostly constructed between 1730 and 1834. Its foundations, including a castle tower and a Gothic chapel, date back to the twelfth century. Other older buildings still extant within the complex include the chapel of 1318 with Saint Leopold's tomb. From 1634, the Habsburg rulers rebuilt the facilities in the Baroque style, which the architects Jakob Prandtauer and Donato Felice d'Allio continued. The plans to embellish the monastery on the scale of an Austrian Escorial were later resumed by the Neoclassical architect Joseph Kornhäusel, though only small parts were carried out. In 1879, the abbey church and monastery were restored according to plans by Friedrich von Schmidt, and the neo-Gothic twin steeples were erected
